There isn't anything better in magic that is colourless to deal with early threats besides… Moonglove Extract, Brittle Effigy, Arena.. Desert (in multiples), Pit Trap (yuk) . In the current metagame.. April 16th 2014.. there's lots of little guys like Delver Of Secrets, Stoneforge Mystic, Deathrite Shaman, Phyrexian Revoker, which can mount early and lasting game pressure against shaky strategies like MUD . Don't be greedy . It does what it does, removes a guy, that could save your rear if they stick a card like Revoker on the table . There are bigger effects like Spine Of Ish Sah available but they cost a lot of mana. If you don't have a Chalice of the Void, throwing down an Aeolipile is good-enough in the early game. A good answer in a colour, colourless, without answers. Cursed Scroll is not the greatest with a full hand (see -Arena)
