I think not because they're banned in modern, but I've never got to play with them When they were standard and I think that it would be fun to do. So what's your speculation on one or the other getting reprinted ever?
The reason that they're banned in Modern is because, with them legal, Delver would probably be the dominant deck type, which isn't what Wizard's wants.
We might see them in a Standard set after Snapcaster rotates out. They quickly learned that they can't have cheap, effective counter-magic and library manipulation while Snapcaster exists, because then Blue would just be way too powerful. After he's gone, there's a better chance of Ponder/Preordain reprints than there is for new cheap manipulation spells. Any new spells that come out would have to be tested and potentially banned in Modern based on power level. With reprints, they don't have to worry about that.
Either/both could see reprint (Ponder is more likely mechanically), but I have a feeling Sleight of Hand may become the card of choice at least for this next core set since it's similar, a little lower power level, and Modern legal.
Ponder and Preordain both make combo decks a little too consistent, however since combo decks by and large don't exist in Standard, I don't see why they wouldn't be up for a reprint.
Preordain is probably a bit less likely to be reprinted because it uses a keyword mechanic. Ponder on the other hand I could see being reprinted. I think though that having Delver of Secrets still in Standard means that it seeing print in Magic 2014 is somewhat unlikely. Like others, Sleight of Hand is a nice substitute, and one that doesn't make Delver or Miracles any better.
Its highly unlikely they will reprint cards banned in modern for standard play. Legal in standard banned in modern is something i imagine they want to avoid.
I agree that they would likely try to avoid but if Ponder/Preordain make sense in a set I don't think they will shy away from putting it in Standard even if it's still banned in Modern.
They have often said that they give considerations to all constructed formats but the only one they will go above and beyond to make sure it isn't broken is Standard: banlists take care of the others.
Considering we just had ponder reprinted in M10 and M12, I suspect it's very likely we'll see it reprinted again soon; if not in M14, then probably in M15. Fortunately I already have my full-art Argyle playset ready and waiting for when that time comes, but what I'd really love to see reprinted even more than ponder is brainstorm, which sadly I'm afraid will probably never see print again in a standard environment. Oh well, at least modern players have serum visions which is better than nothing.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.

I like to think Brainstrom will come back once Miracles are out of standard
You just can't allow that card in standard while things like Bonfire and Entreat are around

I don't think they want Brainstorm being legal in Modern. Especially because it has fetchlands.

Those who fear the darkness have never seen what the light can do.
I have a feeling that they might reprint Opt at some point, which would be awesome ... It doesn't enable Delver or Miracles but it is both card selection and instant speed, and I think its power lever is just about right for Standard and Modern.

Thanks to Gabgabdevo for the awesome sig image!
I'm always looking for foil Madcap Skills and Ghitu Fire-Eater, [trade thread link forthcoming]
The only card in there that isn't garbage is Gitaxian and that's due to it being able to be cast for 0 mana.
I would hope Wizards would reprint Ponder or Brainstorm in standard. If they don't want it in Modern then they can just ban it. But not putting in standard due to not wanting it in modern is a crappy reason.

You're probably right, but Ponder was legal in standard last season while it was banned in modern, so what's stopping them from printing brainstorm in standard and then banning it in modern? We just got a beautiful alternate art reprint of it in the Izzet vs Golgari duel decks, and if they reprinted it in a standard set with the same art, I can't think of a single legacy player who wouldn't pay top dollar to get their hands on a foil playset. Perhaps we can start a 'bring back brain' petition and make it happen

They have usually been just fine in standard. IMO there are two reasons we don't have one of those effects around right now:
1. Snapcaster
2. Miracle mechanic
So once Innistrad rotates out of standard I think blue will get some version of its toy back.

I don't always post about Rafiq of the Many, but when I do, I cardlink to the original artwork, and not the supplementary product version.
