Proph, what's your general stance on powerwolfing a buddy under a lot of pressure? Cause your flip on shin, while great, kinda looks like a "cut my losses" bus. I've liked your posts today significantly, but I still feel like your slot is >rand scum.
No, you don't get to drive-by shade me like this. Tell me what posts of mine you like and explain why you think my slot is rand scum.
As for my general stance, I like to bus my teammates if I am scum.
Most of the game WG has been pushing Vaimes-as-scum and hailing Shinichi as a paragon of Townieness regardless of his actual behavior. He even literally said in one post that Shinichi and Vaimes did the same thing but that he considered it a scum-tell on Vaimes while continuing to Town-read Shin.
Oh my god you're right. I retract that statement. Somewhere I got flipped around. His switch to vote Shin was even worse then.
Are we 4 Shin vs. 4 WG?
I'm leaning WG and I don't mind lynching someone before the deadline today. We can't get another no Lynch.
Proph is the only person making any sense (he at least smells that something is wrong) and yet people are flocking to the arguments that put Proph as scum

This is Wheat, being exasperated and frustrated at the game state. He's frustrated that AG has pretty much escaped all pressure, and now the wagon momentum shifts to him and Shinichi (a person who Wheat thinks is town). Him expressing doom and gloom at this game state makes sense, here, because if Wheat is town then he knows he's town and he thinks Shinichi is town as well.

Wheat votes Shinichi here, but his mindset shifts from "a desire to win the game" to "proving EL wrong". It makes sense here because Wheat is so frustrated at this game state right now, but he wants to prove EL wrong. Proving people wrong when they flip is a sentiment that I often see from townies about to be lynched.

Wheat is so frustrated here that he is even willing to self-vote in order to prove EL wrong. This is entirely consistent with his mindset and goal at the moment. Plus, I've found that self-vote threatens often come more from town rather than ballsy scum.

I think you're town which makes this stupid double lynch you want to set up even worse for playing against your win-con
Furthermore it cements what I've been saying all along that even if something comes along and proves wrong the stupid reads you keep having you're going to keep on riding that train all the way to our loss
So I'm not going to put up for your antagonism when I'm merely giving up on stopping you from hitting the iceberg directly in front of us, and you're the one at the helm shouting "FULL SPEED AHEAD, NO TURNS"

And if he's scum then he's (in addition to feigning frustration for pity points, which is more what that feels like) frustrated that his tactic of tunneling Vaimes Day One and tunneling AG Day Two has failed. How do you get a Town read out of that post?
Wheat votes Shinichi here, but his mindset shifts from "a desire to win the game" to "proving EL wrong". It makes sense here because Wheat is so frustrated at this game state right now, but he wants to prove EL wrong. Proving people wrong when they flip is a sentiment that I often see from townies about to be lynched.
You are the only person who is (allegedly) seeing Wheat's sudden vote on Shinichi, after singing praises of his Towniness all game, as Townie behavior. You also just told shadowlancer that you think bussing is a good scum strat, so how do you not read a flip from "THIS GUY IS THE TOWNIEST TOWN TO EVER TOWN" to "yeah sure let's hop on this convenient wagon" as clear bussing? How do you get a Town read out of that post?
Wheat is so frustrated here that he is even willing to self-vote in order to prove EL wrong. This is entirely consistent with his mindset and goal at the moment. Plus, I've found that self-vote threatens often come more from town rather than ballsy scum.
Self-voting and not going through with it is a scummy attempt to gain pity points. Self-voting and going through with it can never come from scum, obviously, and is thus anti-Town when a Townie knowingly mislynches himself. In no case can self-voting be read as Townie unless it's in a situation where it's actually beneficial (such as a 1v1 which the entire Town is 100% convinced is a TvM situation, in which case they're gonna lynch both people either way and you may wanna end the Day before the Mafia can spread more disinformation). This is not such a situation; this is just a threat for pity points, to go along with the whole "I'm so frustrated" routine. How do you get a Town read out of that post?
The bolded are strong town tone statements that I more often see come from town rather than scum.
Too bad that, whatever you consider the town to be, the actual content is nonsensical for multiple reasons, most notably cuz he's labeling my reads stupid when it's our reads. The whole Town is pretty solidly behind either Shinichi or Wheat today. The fact that I've been calling them 2/3 of the most probable scum team is practically incidental; I don't singlehandedly control the Town's wagons, and trying to demonize me is just a convenient tool for him to undermine the wagons while ignoring the actual content on which they're based. How do you get a Town read out of that post?
Everything you're referencing is a "read" of Wheat's reaction to the current votal, which is 5-4 Shinichi-Wheat. Of course he's going to be frustrated by that situation regardless of alignment; reading into emotion at that stage is just not useful at all.
Proph's argument for town.Wheat isn't very convincing, but it doesn't look like scum defending their teammate.
I find myself agreeing with this despite all three people involved being in my PoE...
I am kind of checked out right now. I think Shin is scum, he's not posted anything of any interest of late and I want to get a flip and a result from AG's donated shot.
Ok time to catch up tho, I see i almsot got lynched well then. I was just trying to take a break from this game becase i was actually starting to get pissed off, but its time to read.

Vaimes had no wifi, or do you think its a good idea to pressure someone who cant even properly reply to the game?
Agod, claimed a role that can be backed up tho. Unless you can prove what made his actions scummy which i seem to fail at nothing can be done till he posts something very imcriminating.
Also if Shinichi flips scum, then Wheat is probably cleared. I don't think Wheat is the type of guy who blatantly power wolfs just as his buddy is receiving a lot of pressure.
U act like that is different than how i normally play, grapefruit isnt someone im sure of when i read him. His play is has been town consistent but ive been wrong about him before.
Why do you say he is iffy, though? You still haven't answered that question.
Also escape hatch attempt is noted.

Sad that the person supporting me others also scum read, i wish grape or cross would notice this. Wheat has never even played with me before yet hes noticed the behavior.
Dude, if you're town, then I WANT to notice that. It's just that every time you post I don't understand how you come to the reads you've gotten. You take a stance and then a couple posts later you reverse it, and it just reads as incredibly opportunistic to me.
Like, look at 1154. You say that you agree with my shadow townread "a little" and then you say "Shadow and AG seem to have the highest chance of being scum in my book". HOW DOES THAT WORK? WHY DO YOU THINK THAT?
And like:
Quote from Shinichi »
Only 2 people im truly convinced have the highest chance of being town that would be vaimes and grapefruit.
Quote from Shinichi »
]U act like that is different than how i normally play, grapefruit isnt someone im sure of when i read him. His play is has been town consistent but ive been wrong about him before.
How do you go from "you're truly convinced have the highest chance of being town" to "I'm not sure about Grapefruit, I've been wrong about him before". It feels like you're setting up the stage to push Grapefruit late-game.
There is a few quotes that brought that idea up, I just havent had the time to go find them. I didn't just pull that out of my ass. Explain the the hatch, i mean I understand it but am i now allowed to back down from my reads?
I was implying i can see where the read was coming from, but at the same time I still think he has a high chance of being scum. I'm sorry my play isnt consistent. But i'm just playing veyr *****ty right now because I am just not usd to keeping track of posts from 30 days ago even with this iso feature,
That was after seeing a certain post, and thats just my general playstyle ive gain from being on ms too much. No matter who i town read, i always take everything they do with a grain of salt because I am better at scum reading people than town reading them.
Vacation is now semi over and I'll be more involved after today. Haven't flown home, but going to have consistent wifi at least!
Anyway full catch up to come tonight or tomorrow, but in the mean time....
Vote: Shinichi
Shin I've played with you before and I know you're evasive and like to play devil's advocate and don't like to lock yourself in, but this is another level. It's so far removed from what I consider your normal game that I've stopped considering meta. Maybe you're town and just don't have any footing with the longer phases. That's a possibility, but it seems much more likely to me that you just are scum and are making it up as you go.
You are right about that, but I wont let that stop you from lynching me obviously. Thought I can't see what is different from this game compared to my most recent town games on MS
"inconsistency is Townie and consistency is scummy"
man, reading Wheat's posts is always so entertaining
That should be solved case by case.
The Town gathers evidence and uses it logically to draw coherent conclusions.
The Mafia has an agenda and twists facts as necessary in order to achieve the lynches it wants.
Consistency is Townie. Inconsistency is scummy. Deviations from this are poor play and should not be rewarded with free-pass Town-reads; I don't do derp-clears. Mistakes certainly happen occasionally, but when they're happening constantly in spite of people repeatedly warning you about them throughout the thread, I don't buy it. Throughout the game thus far, you've played like you're making up reads as you go along in order to force your narrative, rather than having any actual interest in scum-hunting or Town-hunting.
The 1st line could be said about both alignments, the 2nd line is true though cause town have no reason to do that. I'm not asking for a free pass, your all welcome to lynch me if that helps the game get moving. Still trying to get used to this whole 3 week phases cause for me its very hard to keep track of information.

Crossbell does seem like the kind of player to bus teammates, but if I flip town does that make you town? I mean I know you unvoted but that was to make sure no hammer happened. I can see both scum and town pulling that action for some general town points.

Replying in order of Lurker reponses:
1. Are you assuming his fustration is scum aligned due to your read? Because I can sense a town player inside all that fustration. I'm doing the exact opposite of WG just playing with a calm attitude at my own pace. What does that mean for my algnment, are your saying I'm faking that too?
2.I can't see why scum would vote me for other peoples reasons, in such an obvious manner. If anything if he flipped town it would most likely show i was town which i am of course, but he was being pressured and pressued. What do you think happens when you tell someone their read is meaningless it makes them feel like complete crap town can't fake that level of emotion.
3.So what happens if he gets hammered with his vote still on himself? If he never unvotes himself what does that say? Or are you refering to a situation where he hammers himself which would just be freaking stupid lol. Man honestly your really full of yourself lmfao, you remind me of a logic340. @grapefruit doesnt he?
4.It's cool you can be solidated but I know i am town so therefore i do find your reads stupid, I get where they are coming from but at the same time its pretty obvious from the start that when you came into the came you literally jumped on the most obvious target for a mislynch. Uhm a person who controls the game can be scum, so its quite fair to demonize you. I literally just finished dealing with a situation like that.
@crossbell Question why are you afraid of a hammer? Am i not scum? I thought you were super sure of my alignment if you are then so that conviction and keep your vote on me.
I'm doing the exact opposite of WG just playing with a calm attitude at my own pace. What does that mean for my algnment, are your saying I'm faking that too?
You might be, or you might not. Your calmness is as null to me as Wheat's anger. It's not relevant at the moment when analyzing the content of your posts.
If anything if he flipped town it would most likely show i was town which i am of course
Sure, if either one of you flips Town I will be a lot more open to Town-reading the other, more so you being Town if Wheat is than the other direction. I've already acknowledged as much.
he was being pressured and pressued. What do you think happens when you tell someone their read is meaningless it makes them feel like complete crap town can't fake that level of emotion.
...How can you not fake a level of emotion in a forum setting? It's not a difficult task to type out angry words. Wheat called my reads stupid and you don't see me foaming at the mouth about it, though I certainly could pretend to do so if I so chose.
3.So what happens if he gets hammered with his vote still on himself? If he never unvotes himself what does that say? Or are you refering to a situation where he hammers himself which would just be freaking stupid lol.
It would be stupid, which is why self-voting is stupid. Your point being...?
4.It's cool you can be solidated but I know i am town so therefore i do find your reads stupid, I get where they are coming from but at the same time its pretty obvious from the start that when you came into the came you literally jumped on the most obvious target for a mislynch.
Are you saying that I'm protecting Atheist_God? Because he was the most obvious target at the time I joined the game, so unless you think I'm his scum-buddy your statement about the "most obvious target for a mislynch" is just not true.
Uhm a person who controls the game can be scum, so its quite fair to demonize you. I literally just finished dealing with a situation like that.
Certainly. I just don't see myself as "controlling the game". Grapefruit is almost everyone's primary Town read at the moment, so Town's following his lead, not mine. I'm just supplying evidence to be considered.
@lurker how is his anger null, you just said that it's being faked so he must be scum?
Those arguement are freaking valid though, explain to me why they can't happen? Also my emotion put into a post should be taken into consideration, sure the content says more but the emotion helps too so to just ignore that is kinda bs.
No ***** its not hard to type emotion, but if your a human being you should have some kind of sense and think "Hey is that something a mafia player would say if fustrated"? The way you look at it is:
1. A town player who shows emotion is town
2. A mAfia player who shows emotion is scum
These situation should and can be swapped.
My point being in certain situation self voting can be a very townlike action.
How so? When you joined it was obvious you read my posts because right away I became your biggest target. Also it is possible, I mean I still can't seem to figure out if AG action was fueled by a town or scum mindset.
Just cause hes a town read by half the game doesnt mean hes controlling the game, no one is directly following him as much as they are you. A good example is this not until after you started poking did others realize oh ***** this guy might actually be scum.
Hmm if it is ill take any punishment, all I did was edit in my vote. So if that is grounds for being punished then ill gladly accept that.
We usually allow editing, aslong as is not some giant chunk of information.
Plus as long as they state what they edited in we are gucci, no one cheats on our site the few who have severely down it have been forever banned from the club.
For the record, the other edited post (so far as I know) was 1099, and luckily I happened to quote the pre-edit version of the post. Judging from that example and this one, it doesn't look like anything fishy's going on, just a legit rules mistake. I'd support letting it slide as long as no future edits are made, but it's Cantrip's game of course.
Work is killing me, still unable to catch up at the moment. I did skim though.
Pretty sure the host doesn't like me very much as I'm typing this. Just gonna give out some thoughts à la Grapefruit to give some substance to my very ephemeral presence.
In case I can't catch up by the lynch (I should be catching up tomorrow (as I've repeatedly said time and time again... :/)), I'm not voting Shinichi but I'm voting Wheat. Pretty sure my vote's on him at the moment so I'm not moving it. If my opinion changes tomorrow, we'll see if I'll help out on the Shinichi lynch. Not even sure who has the most votes at the moment. Please don't push for a modkill on Shinichi, I don't really care if that would benefit us or not. I guess Cantrip has the final word but just don't push for it.
There's something terribly wrong with the Shinichi-Wheat-Proph scumteam that Eternal suggets. Well, not terribly wrong, just worthy of attention for me. With all the defense I've seen these three players do towards each other, I don't feel like Proph would just do what she's doing right now. On one hand this seems like the exact type of situation I know she would bus in, on the other hand she mentioned in-thread that she very much likes to bus as scum (or something like that) and it's the fact that she mentioned it which bugs me. That or we won the game in three consecutive lynches.
Also is it me or is Shadow not here? Maybe I just missed his posts when skimming. Well, I'm pretty much like him in the activity side of things. Ughhh. Sincere apologies.
@crossbell Question why are you afraid of a hammer? Am i not scum? I thought you were super sure of my alignment if you are then so that conviction and keep your vote on me.

I still have issues with the claim. Sounds like a scum ability. However, I'm having a hard time not discussing why I think he's probably town due to what happened with the trap.
As per the rules, do not edit your posts, regardless of what the edits entail.
This can be a modkillable offence, but given that Shinichi is new to the forum and I have confirmed with a moderator that the edits were minor, I'm just issuing a general warning, TO ALL, that further post editing will result in a modkill.
Iso has very kindly reverted 1099 and 1267 back to their original state.

I was in no way "drive by shading you", my opinion on your slot has been pretty in the open, kpaca interactions with Shin were terrible. As far as your posts, pretty much the first half of everything you posted today I liked, you came into the thread, took everything in and got down to business. The second half feels a little more forced, but not as much as I'd thought.
I...maybe I'm confbiasing a little much on my assumption that shin and you are buddies.Actually now that Horsemen is over, I'm going to try and do a refresh and actually get wholly into this game, because a lot of my Mafia playing energy went into winning that game, and between that and the mash last week, I don't think I've taken in everything that has gone on here, and that's on me.

I still want to lynch Shinichi and see nothing but preflip association with Shin that is making anyone want to lynch someone else. Half of the case on Wheat is built on Shinichi's scumminess (the other half being the scummy push on Vaimes and complete doing their own thing, by not filling anyone in on the why's or how's ) and that makes me uncomfortable. I'd rather lynch the scummiest person based on behavior when we don't have flips to work with.
Do you guys just want to lynch Wheat so that Cantrip doesn't have to find a replacement?
I still strongly believe that Wheat is town, just.. given with how long this Day has already been + the flak Wheat's replacement will get, I think it's kiiind of better for game health if we just lynch Wheat now?

I don't really think justifying a lynch as such is healthy for the game, regardless of Wheats alignment.
@Proph: That's...really not a reason I'd back for lynching Wheat's slot before Shinichi. I've stated other reasons for that preference, but I don't like that one at all. If you really "still strongly believe that Wheat is town", shouldn't you want Shinichi lynched first no matter what, to give Wheat's slot a chance? On the chance that Shinichi flips Town, things end up looking better for Wheat's replacement.
I know there's weird rules stuff going on right now and hypothesizing about it is a lil' iffy, but your post really doesn't feel like someone who genuinely believes Wheat's slot is Town, since you're giving up on a chance to help exonerate him by lynching Shinichi -- who you say you want lynched anyway.
Half of the case on Wheat is built on Shinichi's scumminess (the other half being the scummy push on Vaimes and complete doing their own thing, by not filling anyone in on the why's or how's ) and that makes me uncomfortable.
I mean...1) part of it was him buddying up to Shinichi, sure, but the manner in which it happened would honestly be a problem even if Shinichi seemed Townie, cuz it'd just look like pocketing in that case; and 2) that "other half" alone has felt more scummy to me than Shinichi's posting, but that's debatable.
Uggghhh. I don't know. This day really shouldn't drag on longer and it's not fair to a replacement to come in as a Lynch leader with a day left. Does WG rage quit a lot? I'm trying to angle shot this, but would he really rage quit as caught scum? That seems pretty low.

I think if we are going to lynch wheat, it needs to be as a result of what we believe about his alignment. And frankly I feel a whole lot more confident in Shinichi's alignment than I do wheats.
Terry, what lynch do you believe to be best?
@Cantrip: Assuming the deadline is in the next couple of days, can we get an extension (like 2-3 days or something?)
EL - I'm speaking about this as someone in Cantrip's shoes. I know that when I mod games I HATE searching for replacements, and having a replacement for Wheat is kind of unfair to the replacement because a wagon has already sprung up on Wheat already. Like, if I was in Cantrip's shoes, I would be really hoping the players lynch Wheat so that I wouldn't have to find the... FOURTH replacement this game?
I'm not talking about this as a player, I'm talking about this from a mod and game health perspective.
I'm getting this bad feeling that EL is scum and he just came in blasted Wheat and Shin until one of them got lynched, full well knowing both were town. It seems like he's been in a pretty hard tunnel on them.
Wheat didn't claim anything did he?
I was leaning Shin earlier. I thought his response to the Edit-Gate was respectable though and don't like a Lynch on WG after his rage quit, which is angly, I know and would hate to Lynch a replacement right away. I would probably put my vote on Shin still, but not be super excited about it.
@Cantrip: Assuming the deadline is in the next couple of days, can we get an extension (like 2-3 days or something?)
See bolded (and the additional that follows):
Quote from Game Rules, Deadlines and Extensions Spoiler »
1. Deadlines for this game will be: [# of players] + [lynch threshold] = Deadline in days. The maximum length for a Day will be three weeks.
2. Each Day phase will have a deadline. Night phases will last 72 hours until half of the players are dead, at which point they will be shortened to 48 hours. Nights may be shortened further toward the end of the game. 3. During the game, there are up to three deadline extensions available. These extensions may be requested by the players at any time in the thread, and may be granted at my sole discretion. Don't be mad if I say no.
The options are as follows:
A: 24 hours per player OR 7 days, whichever is shorter.
B: 72 hours
C: 48 hours
4. Once a particular extension is used, it cannot be used again that same game.
5. Any number of extensions can be used in the same game Day.
6. If the players do not specify which extension they wish to use (or if there is no consensus on which one to use), I will pick the remaining option highest up on the list.
7. Extensions are appended to the deadline time. There's no need to strategically time when the request is made.
8. At least two players must request an extension for it to be considered.
Thank you,I promise no more editing from me.

As for my general stance, I like to bus my teammates if I am scum.
Are we 4 Shin vs. 4 WG?
I'm leaning WG and I don't mind lynching someone before the deadline today. We can't get another no Lynch.
The bolded are strong town tone statements that I more often see come from town rather than scum. I have a hard time explaining, like, WHY I think these statements make Wheat town, but they give me gut a town vibe if that makes sense?
And if he's scum then he's (in addition to feigning frustration for pity points, which is more what that feels like) frustrated that his tactic of tunneling Vaimes Day One and tunneling AG Day Two has failed. How do you get a Town read out of that post?
You are the only person who is (allegedly) seeing Wheat's sudden vote on Shinichi, after singing praises of his Towniness all game, as Townie behavior. You also just told shadowlancer that you think bussing is a good scum strat, so how do you not read a flip from "THIS GUY IS THE TOWNIEST TOWN TO EVER TOWN" to "yeah sure let's hop on this convenient wagon" as clear bussing? How do you get a Town read out of that post?
I find myself agreeing with this despite all three people involved being in my PoE...
I am kind of checked out right now. I think Shin is scum, he's not posted anything of any interest of late and I want to get a flip and a result from AG's donated shot.
[/b]/replace[/b]
I'm never playing with EL again due to OOG happenings.
Vaimes had no wifi, or do you think its a good idea to pressure someone who cant even properly reply to the game?
Agod, claimed a role that can be backed up tho. Unless you can prove what made his actions scummy which i seem to fail at nothing can be done till he posts something very imcriminating.
If i flip town then what?
You are right about that, but I wont let that stop you from lynching me obviously. Thought I can't see what is different from this game compared to my most recent town games on MS
The 1st line could be said about both alignments, the 2nd line is true though cause town have no reason to do that. I'm not asking for a free pass, your all welcome to lynch me if that helps the game get moving. Still trying to get used to this whole 3 week phases cause for me its very hard to keep track of information.
huh?
Crossbell does seem like the kind of player to bus teammates, but if I flip town does that make you town? I mean I know you unvoted but that was to make sure no hammer happened. I can see both scum and town pulling that action for some general town points.
I have to agree with Cross here, I don't think I could vote WG after reading this post.
Forgot to put in my last post
Also @re1031 wtf was that vote on me?
You might be, or you might not. Your calmness is as null to me as Wheat's anger. It's not relevant at the moment when analyzing the content of your posts.
Here we go with "too scummy to be scum" arguments again.
Sure, if either one of you flips Town I will be a lot more open to Town-reading the other, more so you being Town if Wheat is than the other direction. I've already acknowledged as much.
...How can you not fake a level of emotion in a forum setting? It's not a difficult task to type out angry words. Wheat called my reads stupid and you don't see me foaming at the mouth about it, though I certainly could pretend to do so if I so chose.
It would be stupid, which is why self-voting is stupid. Your point being...?
Are you saying that I'm protecting Atheist_God? Because he was the most obvious target at the time I joined the game, so unless you think I'm his scum-buddy your statement about the "most obvious target for a mislynch" is just not true.
Certainly. I just don't see myself as "controlling the game". Grapefruit is almost everyone's primary Town read at the moment, so Town's following his lead, not mine. I'm just supplying evidence to be considered.
This is the second time you've edited a post. Is that allowed on the Mafia forum from which you hail? Cuz it's pretty strongly against the rules here.
@Cantrip: Do we have to lynch Shin or are you modkilling him Cantrip?
Plus as long as they state what they edited in we are gucci, no one cheats on our site the few who have severely down it have been forever banned from the club.
The first post shows what i edited in that first time
The 2nd edit all i added in was the change vote part
this just to clarify everything for the host
@Cantripmancer
Your reads have been inconsistent. I don't understand why. Like I said, I have trouble buying them.
I think EL and Quickhoodies so far are sure, but I don't know about the rest.
I...maybe I'm confbiasing a little much on my assumption that shin and you are buddies.
Actually now that Horsemen is over, I'm going to try and do a refresh and actually get wholly into this game, because a lot of my Mafia playing energy went into winning that game, and between that and the mash last week, I don't think I've taken in everything that has gone on here, and that's on me.
I know there's weird rules stuff going on right now and hypothesizing about it is a lil' iffy, but your post really doesn't feel like someone who genuinely believes Wheat's slot is Town, since you're giving up on a chance to help exonerate him by lynching Shinichi -- who you say you want lynched anyway.
Please just don't.
Terry, what lynch do you believe to be best?
@Cantrip: Assuming the deadline is in the next couple of days, can we get an extension (like 2-3 days or something?)
I'm not talking about this as a player, I'm talking about this from a mod and game health perspective.
