Im trying to get some info about what brand of headphones/headsets people use, either portable (iPod, laptop, etc) or for online gaming (PS3, XBOX, pc). Im talking about the full sized, covering-the-ear headphones. NOT the in-ear speakers or bluetooth. Im not selling anything, this info is for a personal business matter.
What I want to know is; What brand/model do you own (or have owned), and why did you choose it over a different brand (unless it was a gift). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

- Let's just say, I've been around since the Ice Age
I use ultrasone proline 750 headphones. Got them after interning at a professional recording studio (big name acts, recording paramore when i was there). Best headphones ive ever used, worth the price hands down. I got them primarily for pro-audio and composion work on my computer, but its not uncommon for me to use them with my ds/ipad/iphone
I should mention that I use WeSC x The Bloody Beetroots Headphones while DJing and they are quite good but again, I like to use in the ear earphones while listening to my ipod.
I too prefer earbuds, and usually get skullcandy "inkd" I think they are called, which go for round $20 bucks and last pretty long. There was another brand I got around a couple years ago that was really good as well and about the same price but I can't remember what it was so \=
Skullcandies seem to be everywhere I could think of to go to get earbuds though, at least in the areas I've lived recently.
I find that getting ones at least around $20 is always worth it for not only the quality but the life, although that might be because I heavily use them.

"Virtue, Jacques, is an excellent thing. Both good people and wicked people speak highly of it..."
I use some JVC HA-X570 (the official page seems to be down at the moment) for anything I don't mind having a 10-foot cord for. They have good sound quality and do a decent job blocking outside noise. They are the best I've found for the price; I paid $15 for mine, and they've served me well.
For portable devices, I use whatever I can find for about $5. I'm too hard on them to justify wasting money on something lucky to last 3 months.
For portable-ness I generally use the cheapest in-ear headphones. Currently that's Skullcandy, their 2XD or whatever. I tend to lose my headphones a lot and/or break them from throwing them in a bag with a bunch of books on them, etc., so getting more expensive portable headphones wouldn't be the best investment.
At home I have a pair of Sony MDR-V6's I swear by. They're great.

JVC headphones are pretty good for everyday use. I had them once (don't remember the model exactly), and they worked for 3 or 4 years. That's my personal record in headphones use )
I personally use Senheiser (there are a few other brands I use as well) for over the ear headphones, and generally spend around $100 minimum on them. Of course for the quality, the amazing sound and the time that they actually last it is more then worth it. I use them to basically drown myself in music, you can seriously hear an excellent difference in them in comparison to name brands like Skullcandy and Beats even though Beats has some serious bass, which some people want.
For when I am walking around I just want small earbuds that cost little to nothing that I can replace at a whim if need be, plus I never am really engrossing myself in music while walking around so they never stay on for very long in public.
I can however say that Skullcandy is a terrible brand and their headphones are the most ridiculously flimsy pieces of crap I have seen. I've known many a person who has had to replace their Skullcandy's more then once which always made me wonder why they kept buying them over and over.
I think some people don't understand that the Mirrans are the bad guys. Arcbound Ravager is Mirran. Phyrexia are the good guys coming in to conquer an evil, evil world.
TurtleBeach Ear Force X11 I use them for my PC and my Xbox. They come with cables that you place into your TVs A/V jacks and then plug your normal A/V cables into them. Then you can hook the headset into the extension cable that you just plugged in for use with the console. They use a USB port as well and provide pretty good sound and it boosts the volume as well. They are great when the wife is sleeping and I'm still up playing since all of the sounds come through the headset instead of the TV.
I don't use headphones for gaming/on my main boxes.
For portable, I insist on over the ear and around the back of the head models. Currently I'm using Sony's MDR-G45's. They're cheap, and decent enough for the basic radio listening I do.
I hate earbuds because I find they either don't stay in my ear, or they annoy my ears after awhile.
I use my earbuds from my old iPod mini because my nano ones broke when I listen to my Zune. For computer gaming or monitoring when recording I use a pair of ☺☺☺☺ty Sony studio monitors I got for $15, but they work and have good bass. They don't completely cover the ears, but cover most of them.
Are you looking for a headset with a mic or just overear headphones?
Also, Price range?
Also, Disregard any poster that said they use Skull Candy headphones. They are pieces of ☺☺☺☺ and you can get better sound quality out of a couple of tin cans. And price really isn't an excuse
Without mic
The Best there is: Sennheiser HD 800
Huge budget: Grado RSi1, Grado RS2, Sennheiser HD 600
Large Budget: Sennheiser HD 598, Grado SR225i, Sony MDR-DS6000,
Modest: Bose AE2, Anything Sennheiser or Grado makes in the 50-125 range, Alot of the Sony Stuff. Shure has some good stuff in this price range
Low(25-50):Sony,Bose,Sennheiser. Phillips SHL5800.
I use the Sennheiser HD 558 around the house because they are 200 dollar headphones that i found for around 100 and the sound quality is just far superior then anything in that price range. I don't got out in public with them though because they are ugly.
For portable use, I use Sennheiser CX500 because there are sleek in ears that are relatively cheap and pack a hell of a punch

For gaming, I own a pair of Tritton AX720's. They're awesome. They cancel out the noise around me, and perform with the same quality as TurtleBeach headsets. They give me surround sound in my head, which is nice. They might be a bit expensive, but I've had it for a long time, and it has yet to glitch or break or anything like that. I definitely recommend investing in them.
In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?
The general rule of thumb for me and headphones is if they look stylish, they probably are garbage. Both the Beats by Dre and Skullcandy along with some other companys that are the "in" brands generally have highish prices with piss poor components. If they are cheap and stylish you can definently assume they are ☺☺☺☺ cause it all went to the style and not the components.(Although the Auravana Air's are beautiful pieces)
I ordered; Technichs RP-DH1200 from Amazon. It has a detachable cord so you won't need to buy a new headset on the ground of your cord being ☺☺☺☺ed up. And the soundquality is amaaaaazing.

I put them as the best of the best. I don't know if this guy is loaded or not. If he is, well the HD800 is the best there is.
I had plenty of other suggestions, way to nit pick the one there for vanity really.
Also it's loads better than suggesting him use stock Ipod earbuds.
Edit: Also we are on a magic forum, looooaaads of disposable income here.
