Doombringer recently mentioned personally overhauling the custom keyword encyclopedia. It desperately needs an overhaul. Is that going to happen? If not, then why not?

Yeah, it could use some cleaning. Since Doombringer is willing, I'll PM him and see if he still wants to do it.
Nice to see this helpdesk getting used.

A) what's a reverse google image search?
B) How can it be Jintetsu when the signature clearly ends in a "g"?
C) Just because it's on his deviantart doesn't make it his, abigaille's deviantart is also listed on the image so it could just as likely be that account's.
A) This
B & C) The art description clearly states that the art is from the artists old deviantart account, thus the change in both deviant art account and signature.
Do y'all have any tips on how to find appropriate art for a custom set? I was amazed at how well the art fits the vibe of Aenyr, and I would like to do the same with a custom set I'm working on now. In general, just searching on DeviantArt for what you are looking for doesn't seem to be a winning formula. What are the tricks of the trade? Thanks!

@kjsharp: Although I've never actually started a custom set design project, I have done a bit of preliminary art sourcing in case I ever do. What has worked for me is plugging on-theme keywords into an image search, picking some images that have the desired aesthetics, then researching those artists. Without a big budget to commission specific styles and depictions, I've found the most reasonable way to maintain a cohesive artmosphere is to stick to just a handful of artists. It makes crediting them on card renders much more streamlined, too. For this to work, you have to find pretty prolific artists, of course.
Another option is to Google reverse image search a piece of art that exemplifies the feel you're looking for, and dig around in the "visually similar images" section. Finding the correct artist credits can often be a pain, so this method is tedious, and a bit hit-or-miss. But it does provide a finer control over the art style of your set.
Recently it seems the tool bar at the top of the text field has disappeared. I could type out some of the more common tags from memory, but being able to click on a button to tag text quickly was nice.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

As part of our techs fixing the bad nodes that caused the persistent runtime errors, other things were disabled. All the features of the site should be back up soon so please be patient.
I'm trying to design a custom set, and am nearing a time when I want to do playtesting. What is the best way to do that?
That is beyond the scope of a moderator helpdesk and frankly depends on who you have willing to playtest with you. I'd post your set information in the Custom Set Creation forum and you will probably receive help that way.

Nice to see this helpdesk getting used.
Please learn to use reverse googleimage search in the future.
Are you designing commons? Check out my primer on NWO.
Interested in making a custom set? Check out my Set skeleton and archetype primer.
I also write articles about getting started with custom card creation.
Go and PLAYTEST your designs, you will learn more in a single playtests than a dozen discussions.
My custom sets:
Dreamscape
Coins of Mercalis [COMPLETE]
Exodus of Zendikar - ON HOLD

Yes, look in Doombringer's sig a couple of posts up.
Speaking of Doombringer, what's the word on the custom mechanic list overhaul?

Also, have a gander at this very old MTGS thread on the topic: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/community-forums/creativity/custom-card-creation/368159-fantasy-art-thread
G'luck!
