Whenever someone asks me about a sympathetic Rakdos character, I automatically default to mentioning Asuka.
Asuka is driven by the ambition to be the best Evangelion pilot, willing to sacrifice everything for this sake. In and of itself this is rather Black, but the reasons she wants to be the best I find very Red indeed. Asuka needs constant validation from others to justify her existence and seeks that validation in being an Eva pilot - these are all very Red reasons for doing what she does. And at the same time, there's this very Black underlying fear that colors it; Asuka wants to be the best because if she isn't, she'll be discarded like a useless tool. Her performance as a pilot even follows the typical progression of a Rakdos deck, as she starts out performing very strong but her power peters out as the series goes on (in contrast to Shinji).
What I find interesting about Asuka is that she's both a sympathetic Rakdos character and an example of the color's most self-destructive tendencies. Without spoiling too much, the aforementioned fears and anxieties that underlie her character end up swallowing her whole and leaving her a physical and mental wreck.
I don't know, I guess I consider Asuka more pure red than rakdos...

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
That's exactly the kind of image I wanted to shed. Rakdos isn't all just edgy, bloodthirsty psychopaths.
Well, I guess there is the guy on Launch Party. I see her more like Ash Zealot since she has a lot of fiery, uncontrolled passion.

Her uncontrolled passion is an element that's undeniable, yeah. But the thing is...Red fails to account for her ambition to be the best, even to the extent of putting down Rei and Shinji. This ultimately stems from a fear of being treated like an object (de-individualization), which I think is a very individualistic/Black thing to do.

You have a good point about ambition, but it's actually more than just ambition that makes someone black. Putting other people down is one thing: Letting ambition potentially lead to the death of others or stealing from / maiming others for selfish reasons are the kind of things that make someone decidedly black. Asuka is childish and is driven to excel, but she isn't necessarily "using" Rei or Shinji to reach her goals.

Not all Black characters are murderous characters. Donald and Daffy Duck are listed as Black characters and I can't remember either of those ducks being murderous, even at their worst. To be splashing Black, one has to look out for oneself - if you've ever gone to the hospital to get something treated, you've been Black.
I think that Cuphead from the game of the same title is also a sympathetic Rakdos character. He makes a deal with the literal Devil for monetary gain (B), a deal he of course loses - it's his R lack of foresight that leads him down this road to ruin.
if you've ever gone to the hospital to get something treated, you've been Black.
That's not even remotely true. Generalizations like this make it sound like having any kind of want or motivation is self-centered and therefore black, which means logically that every character is black-aligned.

What do you guys think?
Another great example is Deadpool, although some might say he's pure red.
