Hi all, I looked at the oracle text for all of these cards and can't find an answer anywhere so I'm hoping someone here can help.
When playing with Tireless Tribe and Inside Out, I'm confused as to how the pump works after power/toughness switch and then how damage can be responded to using the pump ability... basically 2 Qs:
* Does discarding a card to Tireless Tribe before or after casting Inside Out affect which stat gets pumped? Like should the sequence be to discard 5 cards making Tribe 1/21 - THEN cast Inside Out? Or should you cast Inside Out to make sure it resolves then start discarding, if you want to ultimately make a 21/1 Tribe?
* If the sequencing does matter, can you pump Tribe in response to a burn spell AFTER casting Inside Out, thus raising it's new 1 toughness to survive? For example: enter combat - cast Shadow Rift on Tireless Tribe - declare Tireless Tribe attacking - before damage discard 5 cards making Tireless Tribe 1/21 - cast Inside Out, Tribe is now 21/1 - op casts lightning bolt targetting Tribe - respond to bolt with discard 1 card to make Tribe 21/5 - Tribe survives bolt taking 3 damage
Would this work? Or is the only effective way to survive burn spells on Tribe by countering or protection?
The power/toughness switch is always the last, since all those effects are applied in the very last layer, even if they are created earlier than other effects that apply in earlier layers. Time stamp only matters within a layer. So Tireless Tribe will be a 5/1 wether you switch first and then use its ability, or the other way around. Further disards will only increase power due to the switch effect. A second switch effect would essentially negate the first one and make all those buffs affect toughness again.
Switch effects are applied last in the calculation of a creature’s power and toughness, no matter when the spells and abilities creating the different effects resolved and the effects started applying. As soon as Inside Out has resolved, everything that’s applied to toughness is now applied to power and vice versa. So as far as the combo working to give the Tribe a lot of power, the order in which you do things doesn’t really matter, the Tribe will end up 21/1 or whatever number. On the flip side, for as long as Inside Out’s effect lasts, the Tribe is stuck at 1 toughness, so yes, your opponent will have an occasion to damage the Tribe to kill it after the switch and you can’t do much about it with only the cards you mentionned in your scenario.
I'm a former judge (lapsed), who keeps up to date on rules and policy. Keep in mind that judges' answers aren't necessarily more valid than those of people who aren't judges; what matters is we can quote the rules to back up our answers. When in doubt, ask for such quotes.
I have also a question regarding this topic. If I got it correctly then, the only way to pump the thoughtness of my Tireless Tribe once Inside Out has resolved is casting on it a spell that pumps strength, isn't it?

It is called Power, not "strength", but yes. Use an effect that increases Power, and it will affect its Toughness instead, because of Inside Out.

You're right, sorry. I was literally translating it from Italian, my mother tongue. Thanks for the answer, now everything is clear to me.
By the way, love this deck and Pauper in general. Seems to be a pretty cool and affordable format.
Cheers.
