I know the answer to this question, I have a friend that wants to disagree on the ruling I laid down for them.
Situation: They have a Deathgorge Scavenger on the battlefield. I am running GPG. They attack and trigger the ability of Deathgorge and in response I disallow the ability.
I need this post for reference to them.
Hexproof does not protect the activated or triggered abilities of the creature correct?
Hexproof is stated as: Hexproof is a keyword ability that prevents a permanent or player from being the target of spells or abilities played by opponents.
My ruling: Since the ability is not the permanent it does not get the protection of Hexproof.
Am I correct in my ruling of the interaction between the cards?
(I assume "GPG" is God Pharoah's Gift though I am not sure it has to do with this question)
Yeah, you got it correct for the reason you stated. You cannot target the Scavenger because of Hexproof but luckily for you, you are not targeting the Scavenger; you are targeting an ability on the stack. That the ability's source has Hexproof is irrelevant for determining whether the ability itself can be targeted.
Worth noting that Scavenger does not have Hexproof so I will again offer an assumption that it gained Hexproof from something else.
Permanents with hexproof can't be the target of Aura spells (edit:) their opponents control. But if an Aura somehow else becomes attached to one, that's fine.

303.4a An Aura spell requires a target, which is defined by its enchant ability.
608.3a If the object that’s resolving is an Aura spell, its resolution involves two steps. First, it checks whether the target specified by its enchant ability is still legal, as described in rule 608.2b. (See rule 702.5, “Enchant.”) If so, the spell card becomes a permanent and is put onto the battlefield under the control of the spell’s controller attached to the object it was targeting.
