Ugh, Grixis. Is Azorious getting any tools this time around? I'm guessing maybe in the Dragon deck, but otherwise completely crippled/ignored?
Hopefully there are a few decent mono-blue cards or reprints in the Wizards precon.
Are you not happy with Taigam?
Dear lord, I had completely forgotten about this and how happy I was/am. Got tunnel vision on the tribe in the last precon being Grixis, but this is quite encouraging. I'm guessing previews will not start until tomorrow or next week though?

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I'm sad that Cats deck is not Naya, although colors are not balanced...
Anyone able to translate that image?
I'm sorry for my thoughtlessness.
Translation of 2nd paragraph is:
There are 4 types of deck feature tribal: White-Green Cats, White-Black-Red Vampires, 5-color Dragons, and Blue-Black-Red Wizards.
Each of them includes 54 new cards (note: it's incorrect. 56 new cards across all decks, you know), 10 double-faced tokens, and 4 new commanders.
It's enough to your 1st play of Commander.
Making one of the decks Mardu feels weird to me, since up until now the wedges have been mostly equal in representation. Now instead of Jeskai being down one and everyone else at parity, Mardu jumps up to +3 over the others?
I'm sad that Cats deck is not Naya, although colors are not balanced...
Anyone able to translate that image?
From what i see:
This years 4 commander decks of 100 cards.
White, green.
White green and black
white black and red
5 colour.
Four new rules? (not sure on this bit)
WGB for the unknown deck. Well that means wizards aren't necessarily a lock due to the presence of green. Green screams human tribal. I'm holding out for clerics still. Runes around the portal, demon heads drawn on the walls and what looks like a demon-like horn rising up out of the portal behind the mysterious lady, who I think is Minaldra of the Vizag Atum, the leader of a secret demon cult in the Thraben.
Minaldra would be a good character card in Mono-Black for Wizards, but I am not seeing her as the new Commander. I'd rather she be in the Vampire deck as a Human tbh.

Pretty safe assumption that spoilers start next week, from Maro's article on the Mothership today: "Join me next week when the cat will be out of the bag."
The three kanji right before the word "wizaado" (wizard) are blue, black, and red respectively.

Ok, so now that we officially know it's wizards, the question returns to "What wizard characters (that aren't primarily artificers) from any of the blocks or old stories don't have cards yet that are in these colors?"
Only ones I can think of so far are:
Hurkyl (helped found the mage college during the Brothers War, and made artifacts disappear, not create them)
Rebbec (one time love interest of Yawgmoth, who put an end to his schemes and trapped him on Phyrexia).
Loren (Feldon's wife, helped create The Third Way group during the Brothers War)
Most other old wizard characters either already have cards (Barren, Teferi, Jhoira for example) or are primarily artificers (Ashnod, Tawnos for example).

This seems like the only opportunity we'll ever get to see a card for Eliza of the Keep.
What magazine? I ask because the image is of the cat deck without the main card. So I wonder if they are reporting rumors or if wizards gave them spoilers.
I see no reason to believe the Japanese magazine knows more about the decks when they went to print then we know about the decks now.

She sounds awesome, and is legit Grixis, so here's hoping!

Loren never really practiced magic, though. And Rebbec was an artificer (or more accurately she was like Sram, an edificer).
There are SO MANY unprinted Wizards in Magic. Here's just a few that could show up in Grixis colors. Not all three colors in most cases.
Gatha (Bloodlines)
Mairsil the Pretender (The Gathering Dark)
Jodah (Ice Age Trilogy, Time Spiral)
Sima (The Gathering Dark)
Voska (The Gathering Dark)
Jarsyl (The Gathering Dark)
Gerda Aegesdiotter (The Eternal Ice)
Gusta Ebbasdotter (The Eternal Ice)
Jenrik (Innistrad)
Bruenna (Mirrodin Trilogy)
Mother Luti (The Purifying Fire)
Brannon (The Purifying Fire)
Although they may be unpopular, the Numena from the Onslaught block novels happen to be in those three colors.

Wizards are in top 10 most popular tribes in magic the gathering
They by only just above 600 wizards printed in mtg. The second biggest tribe ever.
