Man, I was really hoping for an Urborg effect for Deserts
"During our testing, we found it to be too powerful in eternal formats", said the card design team for Hour of Devastation.
I bet we won't see one even though we really should and it flavor-wise makes sense.
I really wanna read where they said that but I can't find it. Where did you see that?
It's a joke because when we don't get our land that says that all lands are deserts, they will say that exact reason, even though they "don't design things with modern in mind".

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Thought-Knot Seer shenenigans? Being able to make colerless mana means you can cast Seer and later you can use this land to protect Seer from removal and then get the etb effect again?
Safe Haven have a bit different wording, but it still gives creatures back to their owners, from gatherer:
10/4/2004 Creatures return to the control of their owners, regardless of who controls the Haven when it is sacrificed.
Card has great flavor, but requires tons of mana to be effective. I wouldn't play it in any format because of the huge mana investment it requires. Also, people praising it for EDH should remember that lands are more vulnerable in the format and tend to be destroyed relatively often, leaving your creatures forever roaming the barren sands of exile.
And the foils will be pretty bright, really hoping to find one.
Flavor-wise, it would have been an absolute home run
So why not use something with a free sac ability, like Yahenni?

Which is why you play Teferi's Response or Terra Eternal
You know it would be awesome and would actually make these Desert cards good.
Also, thematic overload.
