control magic but can get a artifact or enchantment instead
And almost everyone forgot this about the cycle (not the experts of coarse) just use the color non-land mana givers and the effect doesn't work. It doesn't say skip your untap phase it's only lands that don't untap so use non-land mana givers and the whole cycle will benefit.
Problem is you have to wait till the next turn to use the lands.
This would have been a fantastic card if it simply would steal permanents.
With the restriction it gets a hell lot more boring and the drawback of being tapped out for 1 extra turn is pretty huge unless you steal something that will keep you alive for that time (and thats not too likely).

They really way too badly try to make cards not good anymore , these feel like they are intentionally shaved too much.
This is alright. Not as great as Bontu's, but still pretty good. This only really feels worth it if they only have one big thing out so you can wait for the lands to untap and defend yourself, if you take a creature.
Dang I feel bad for these Gods... poor Hazoret is the only survivor of them and she has to live with her world being wrecked and with all her God buddies dying and her life being a lie...
This card is strictly better than Confiscation Coup even if you factor in the "land you control don't untap during your next untap step" clause--it costs less, can take control of more things, and it isn't dependent upon how much energy you have. This "player exert" spell is in blue, which means you have plenty of options for throwing in inexpensive artifacts by way of Servo or Thopter tokens, which lets you use Inspiring Statuary to tap artifacts rather than lands for noncreature spells.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I don't think you know what "strictly better" means. And losing your land untap the next turn is a HUGE drawback. I'm not disagreeing about its various strengths over the other card; I'm just saying it's not strictly better.
That's like saying Sorin Markov is strictly better than Lightning Bolt even if you factor in the different color and more expensive mana cost and sorcery speed because it can take out more of a player's life. There's nothing "strictly better" about the comparison.

Face it, "strictly better" is like "duel lands" and "plainswalker" - completely misused by a lot of players, and great fodder for Unstable. I really hope they do a riff on all those.

No, I know exactly what the phrase "strictly better" means, which is why I used it. I always say what I mean and I always mean what I say. That doesn't mean that I am objectively correct, of course, only that after having used Confiscation Coup I think that Kefnet's Last Word would have been a better card to have in the situations where I used it because the new card is not limited by how much energy I have. The floor of coup is "spend 5 mana to get an artifact or creature with cmc 4 or less" while the floor of last word is "spend 4 mana to get an artifact, creature, or enchantment"; the drawback of not being able to untap any lands I may have tapped next turn is a gamble I am willing to take. For other players, that is a gamble they are not willing to risk. Not untapping lands is not equal to automatic defeat. Usually.

At this point I beginning to wonder if Kefnet uses his wings to fly, or his giant, awkwardly photorealistic right hand.

Stop printing things that should really obviously effect planeswalkers and have it not effect planeswalkers
Card would be borderline broken if they printed it like that. Just let your opponent's planeswalker get close to ultimating, then steal it. Doesn't really matter if your lands don't untap if you have a Chandra or Liliana emblem.
In regards to why it doesn't target all permanents (i.e. lands), it's because Wizards probably doesn't want a Mwonvuli Acid-Moss variant back in Standard. Talk about all kinds of feel bad if your opponent runs 4-of this card and just locks you out of your own lands constantly.

That would make planeswalkers be something other than pure upside, which is a good thing. Adding Chandra or Gideon to your deck should be an actual decision.

But eh.... Again as I think of it, these Last Stands are good if played together, but on their own.... meh.
That's because unlike the others she survives.
I understand that Hazoret's card is not called Last Stand because she survives, I'm talking about Kefnet's.
Though, having reread the story, well, he doesn't quite do it the same way as Rhonas, so maybe that's why. Still eh though.
