Calm yourself, it is still in Alpha/Beta, optimization comes later.
Why even give system reqs if the game is still in "alpha". If optimization comes later why not say:
Q. What are the recommended system requirements to run MTG Arena?
A. Why don't know yet. The game is still in alpha.
Far cry 3 recommanded specs are as follows:
RECOMMENDED:
Memory:4 GB RAM
Graphics:512MB Video RAM (1GB Video RAM), DirectX9c (DirectX11) Shader Model 3.0 (Shader Model 5.0)
DirectX®:11
Hard Drive:15 GB HD space
Sound:DirectX Compatible (Recommended Surround Sound 5.1 capable)
Other Requirements:Broadband Internet connection
Additional:*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release: AMD Radeon HD 2900 / 3000 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 / 7000 series, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX / 9 / 200 / 400 / 500 / 600 series. Laptop versions of these cards may work, but are not supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game. The only cpu listing is in min requirements and it is some ancient Core 2 Duo. I don't think it's unfair to say that Arena requires a twise more powerful pc than far cry 3 which is just nuts.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.2 GHz) or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2.6 GHz) or better
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512 MB) or ATI Radeon HD 4850 (512 MB) or better
Operating system: Windows 7 / 8
HDD: 20 GB
Core 2 duo is 11 years old. Athlon 64 X2 is 10.
How do you know if optimization comes later? Magic Duels got no performance patches. They had cap token amounts and remove cards that were prone to crashes.
Is this supposed to compete with Hearthstone or be a MtgO replacement? I watched the stream and it looked like neither. It looked like a new version of DotP to me.

It's not going to replace MTG: Online. They made that perfectly clear in the stream.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Since MtGA will focus on Standard, and specifically it looks like they'll be starting with the Ixalan rotation...I'm making a bet that they are already planning a new Legacy format that only includes cards available in MtGA, so starting with Kaladesh.
If the name is any indication, perhaps it is a battle system similar to Arena of the Planeswalkers (which I actually quite enjoy)
If it's just another terrible Duels game, well... at least it's one more thing to not have to buy.
I must've been playing wrong but this was basically the worst board game I've ever played and seemed like a total cash grab. But WotC has never been great with rules so maybe we were just doing something wrong? You can sometimes get across the entire map and kill your opponent before they even get a turn? And it seemed once you summoned a very few amount of units (3 or so), you were just out of cards and couldn't do anything?
