Why do they have the rare foil sticker on the bottom? Ugh I hate that thing, I purposely try to buy older variants of cards to avoid that sticker. I thought these lands were common? Why are they rare?
They have the stamp because they're on the same sheet as Steamflogger Boss, and Steamflogger Boss needs one because it's a rare. Logistically, they have to give every card on a sheet a foil stamp, or none of them a foil stamp. There is no middle ground.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Especially given that John Avon clearly went for a unity of treatment with strong verticality and a central focus for all of them. I like how the arts look together. Too bad these will be the only cards with long-term appeal in the unstable set, making them expensive as hell.
Of course, they get spoiled on my birthday, and of course after I started getting foil unhinged lands for my Prossh deck....F you wizards I also generally like the Forest and the Island (probably the most expensive because...) the most, which is both fair and unfortunate for my wallet.
As a elf player in pretty much every format, I must say: I want 99 foiled forests...they are freaking gorgeous!

Can you imagine if they actually allowed other artists making land like this
I'd probably like them more if they were from a different artist. Just not a fan of Avon. Therese Nielsen, Noah Bradley, Rob Alexander. I'd much prefer just about anyone actually.
I'd love it if they gave other artists chances for this...ya know? Maybe even make the Foil ones ..OH MAN ..could you imagine ..chase foils of Full art that are different foil?
I like my basic lands to say "Basic Land - [land type]. I'll be passing on these. It's too bad, as I like the frames here better than the Zendikar ones. Just needed those few words somewhere.
I'm actually mistified as to why they need to have the name up there at all when the exact same design with the Zendikar/Amonkhet Basic Land - Type typeline and mana symbol on the bottom gives you all the info you need and is miles more aesthetic.
Tournament rules (and possibly the game rules) require a card to have the card's name on it. You can cover up the rest of the card, but the name is needed so that the card's text can be determined.
EDIT: Wait, hold on, I just realized something.... hologram on these lands? Well, I know they may be chase products, but is this the first time this happens to lands?
How much should we expect these to cost for foils?
The current value of the gorgeous Unhinged ones should be a pretty good guide.
They currently vary between about $40-80 a copy, dependent on which one you're after (with the Island naturally at the $80 end and the Mountain at the $40 end, as per usual).
Why is steamflogger boss in the land slots? Also DAM I did well with unhinged lands and I will do will with these. (their is a wonderful feeling when you walk in to a LGS and trade them a stack of basic lands for some new shiny duel lands...... )
I will probably pick up one of each for cube if I can. How will these be distributed? Will we get a unstable fat-pack with a stack of non-foils or will it just be from boosters?
So it wouldn't have a silver border. Also I think it's on the land sheet (as in printed with), not in the land slot (in place of a land in a pack).
It will show up in the land slot *because* it is on the land sheet. So, every so often, some "lucky" individual will end up with a foil Steamflogger Boss instead of a foil land.

This release is handled similarly to Conspiracy. That is, it is a Booster only product with no Bundle (Fat Pack).

Anyone have a link to these other than a forum attachment? Unfortunately the forum software doesn't let you share the images with people (like on facebook or messenger). I can't even right-click/download.

I'm not gonna lie, this is seriously making me consider ordering Unstable for the lands alone, and I haven't bought a box in years (finances).

So do thet come one per pack?
(I bought an additional Oath of Gatewatch bundle just to get an extra full-art land pack.)
