Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

Clearly they knew Booster Tutor was insanely popular and profitable. This card is INSANE and even in an average set is going to be a ton of value - I'd imagine on average you'll get 6-7 creatures off this bad boy.
It is hysterical that the set one would most want to do this with (Legions) has several risks to balance it out:
- You could get a ton of under-the-curve morphs and cycling guys like Patron of the Wild and Gempalm Sorcerer and no way to trigger them (a little sad)
- You get get Graveborn Muse and die on your next upkeep (sadder)
- You could get Phage the Untouchable and die instantly (saddest)

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
It kind of bothers me that this card is black rather than green. Obviously the zombie part is black, and if it was a green card that part would be removed, but cheating creatures into play from anywhere other than a graveyard is not in black's color pie. It's in green's. I would think that any color would be able to interact with boosters the way it does with a library: black can tutor unconditionally (Booster Tutor), green can cheat creatures into play, blue or red can cast instants or sorceries for free, red can impulse draw, etc. But this card being green seems to imply that this isn't case, and that instead booster interaction is exclusively a black thing, with all the un-set cards that do it being black. Feels like wasted potential to me, but they probably aren't interested in making very many cards that require opening boosters.
Dragon's Maze actually has a lot of potential. It has Maze Rusher at common, which is a 6/3 Haste that grants haste to your multi-color creatures. All 18 uncommon creatures in the set are multi-colored, as are 20 of the 26 rare and mythic rares, plus 7 of the commons.

I want to draft this SO MUCH

Edit: This right here is what I wanted from a new un-set. Nice, cool, ridiculously flashy card for casual/draft use.
EditEdit: Can't wait to die to Phage the Untouchable when I crack a pack of Legions with this.
probably Rise of Eldrazi?
Funnier: Getting killed by your new Graveborn Muse and 14 other Zombies.

It's funny that Legions has at least two built-in forms of defense against this card.
