Hello, its nara (and CJ) again! We have been trying out some ideas. We need to have some battles with other people (or a good simulator that will use our decks right off the bat) but I (Nara) have revamped my red/black deck into a good deck that burns everything. My gf is a tad obstinate to remaking her G/B deck as much as you all recommended, so I made her a decent B/W leech deck. But of course when up against my R/B deck she didnt stand a chance. I thought about making a new deck, trying out Blue. It was neat, I made a decent R/U control and flying deck. It wasnt getting the mana I wanted in order to use surge abilities but I still utterly destroyed my gf. I beat her, she made some slight changes but I still destroyed her. Even worse than before.
The Play:
She played Fetid Imp
Then buffed it up with Cartouche of Ambition and Sunbond , if that wasnt scary enough, I had out Furnace of Rath so that made damage ramp up at double the rate that it normally does, so in a few turns she wouldve easily taken me out. However... I had Mind Control so things went in my favor kinda fast. The game ended when she decided to take 18 damage, with FoR making it 36, then Sunbond adds 36 +1/+1 onto his atk and etc. Oh btw, Cartouche has lifelink ..
Anywho after that battle we realized I need to have something far more casual so we can enjoy our battles. At the sametime, I realized either I could make a deck to bring it down to casual levels, or I could make her a new deck that ramps a lot. I made this post before looking at the color posts. I like to gather comments as I look at the decklists.
In conclusion is there any cards or decks you can recommend to us to make the game more casual or turn up the heat so BOTH of us are ramping? Also is there a simulator that we could use to test out our decks on b4 we test them out on each other?
The best way is probably to let the same person build the decks.
That said: as you probably don't want to rip up the BR and the love of your life is fond of the BG the best is probably building a third deck that has the same percentages as the BG. Just using different colors and mostly cards that are fun to play and not tooo cut throat.

In magic there's Harry Dresden, Fizban, Sethra Lavode, Dorotea Senjak and me...
My meta: 3 or 4 player free for all, anything goes but boring games or broken decks cause a vote to end that game.
My group went thru this a while back.
We started with a few rules. Legacy ban list, no infinite combo's, no "I Win!" cards.
It helped a lot, but we still had a few decks that were capable of winning by Turn 2 or 3. Not much fun...
After that we tried a few other things as some people just weren't interested in playing fair decks.
The thing that stuck was singleton. Everyone has at least 2 or 3 singleton decks.
Of course we play other more focussed constructed decks too, but should we start playing with casual decks or someone without a focussed deck (noob!), we find singleton decks usually tend to bring it down to a more friendly level.
Singleton also has the benefit of having lots of cool art to look at too.
