Mirror Match does the same thing except it's for all creautures and you might get random etb triggers. Arachnogenesis acts like a normal fog but you can get random one sided wraths and blockers for future turns.
While it is undeniably neat with how it skirts around block legality, I'd think that in the majority of situations a fog effect is going to be superior. Though funny stuff happens with an unbound Nightshade Peddler in play.

I've run the gamble of Gilt-Leaf Ambush for nearly that effect, though I'll take the second token with a relevant creature type any day.
Unless you are giving the token deathtouch somehow, I would rather have something like Foxfire than Flash Foliage. Of course, I think just having plain ol' removal like Beast Within or just having a Fog variant would be better. I would have to be really, really deep on a Saproling theme before I got to the point of running this.
Normally I wouldn't play a 2/1 for 1G, but gaining 2 life when it dies? Now that's value! /s

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I don't even remember this seeing play in limited. The last card was so much better at this.
I...guess it's a late addition to a Sun Titan package? But if it is, why wouldn't I just run Brindle Boar instead? (And it's not like GW is lacking for "permanents that sac or are discarded to do something or have an ETB or death trigger or whatever for 3 mana or less", the colors with the most focus on creatures and enchantments, and green has the most focus on lands.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Big old meh, if I was doing like a full on Wild Hunt theme deck (Master of the Wild Hunt et al) this could make the cut as an early drop, but that's literally the only theme I could think about building around, and even then there are viable game hounds, elves, hunters, and fairies to use for that odd little mishmash of a deck idea.
Could we just omit these obvious not even good enough for limited-way too small effects type chaff that are obviously not for EDH and never will be played for EDH from the discussion? I understand it's random for what you get in Gatherer, but these kinds of cards don't have any use at all.

"People are the worst. The worst thing about music is that people play it." - Mike Patton
You can play this in your Torpor Orb/Hushwing GryffSaffi Eriksdotter + Reveillark Combo for infinite life? If Saffi is your general, you don't get blood artist. Actually, are there other cards that would be better? The ones I'm thinking of trigger on ETB. That dies trigger is interesting.
Though, why someone would play a Saffi deck with Torpor orb is beyond me.

Well, I already do skip vanilla and the very weak french vanilla cards. This is still the kind of card SOMEONE might include.

My favourite thing about this thread is when a card comes up and three people are like "bah, limited fodder" and then a fourth person pipes up and says "actually, this card is amazing in decks A & B, plus it goes infinite with cards X & Y making it a solid combo choice in decks that are already running those."
The beauty of those kinds of situations is that it's not easy to tell in advance which cards fall into that category versus the ones that really are just "bah, limited fodder." I'm willing to suffer through some days with boring cards in order to not miss out on those really fun ones.
A++ name. Sadly very restrictive on the colours and I never play Mardu so...

I'm not entirely sure this would make the cut in anything outside of elk tribal and that deck would be too terrible for me to build anyways.

Good, but not great, since its ability trigger on attack, so it won't trigger the turn you recur it with Alesha.
But once you get to a 3 colour deck, it is very unlikely that you would play this.
