Theorycrafting with a buddy, he pointed out that I missed another card from Commander 2015 that I should test - Corpse Augur. I'm not sure how I missed it, but it's a solid beater with an incentive to die, which this deck inevitably wants. The reason I skipped over it initially was that I saw it was not a "may" effect, and I thought it was only my graveyard, so I could see the augur killing me. Given that you can choose which player's yard to use to determine X, he becomes much less of a liability and much more promising. I'll be testing him when I have time.
So I was reading a thread about spellslingers here and I saw Skirk Ridge Exhumer. Seems like it could be a very powerful card, functions similar to Necromancer's Stockpile. Has anyone played this creature before?
Got in a lot of games this weekend. On the chopping block:
Bloodchief Ascension: Incredibly powerful card, provides an alternative win condition...which hardly ever works. When I've gotten it online, the games is over in a round or 2 of turns; however, it makes me a HUGE target, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the risk. I could like to up the creature count some more, and this seems like a prime spot to cut from. I'm considering trying Skirk Ridge Exhumer or Corpse Augur in its place.
Karn Liberated: Again, very powerful card, but it just doesn't fit well with the rest of the deck. I have no means of recursion on a planeswalker, and 7 is a lot of mana, even for this deck. And although it gets rid of permanent types that give me fits (artifact, enchantment) this might not be worth it for me. I will probably be testing Ob Nixilis Reignited in his place.
Black Market: Great card, has performed alright...but just alright. Magus of the Wheel must be in this deck, and I think the market is the next up for cutting.
Change Log 1/4/16:
+ Zombie Master, - Falkenrath Noble Reasoning: I've been testing out Zombie Master. Though he can be a huge liability (via theft or cloning), he's too strong to not include. He's a mid game threat or a late-game finisher. He's also another zombie, which the noble (which had underperformed at 4 cmc) was not.
How is Zombie Master a liability if cloned/stolen? Is it not only against another zombie deck? As for corpse augur, I have been using to good effect. I like its on death trigger in this build and has decent power to swing.

Any other zombies you might face, but also makes our own general a 2 turn clock in most cases (if stolen).
Awesome deck!
I had a LoT deck for some months a while ago but sticking strictly to the zombie theme it was fairly underpowered and I stopped playing it.
Since I really like LoT I have recently thought about rebuilding the deck as a Grixis good stuff deck and am now browsing the net for ideas - that is how I came across this thread.
Do you find yourself blocking often with your creatures? If not (what I am expecting of an aggro strategy) Bedlam and Berserkers' Onslaught were successfully used in my deck.

For your card draw spells I highly recommend Rhystic Study.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you've decided to revamp your Lord of Tresserhorn deck - mine is probably my favorite to play, and people also enjoy playing against it.
In terms of blocking, it really depends. I have a very broad meta in my area and games are dramatically different depending on the decks I'm facing. So while Bedlam and Berserkers' Onslaught might work in some metas, I need the ability to chump with my zombie tokens. The double red can also be a problem in my deck.
In terms of flying, I've definitely considered Wonder, as pitching dudes to the yard is precisely what my deck does best. However, I've found my attempts at fixing the flying problem also tend to dilute my plan, which is probably why I run so much removal in the deck. I've been lucky lately my opponents haven't been playing a lot of decks with a focus on flying creatures. Otherwise, I think Wonder would be the best option for me (since the double blue in Levitation. Chaosphere is a pretty neat idea, though I prefer my abilities on creatures when possible.
I love Rhystic Study, but I only have one copy, and it's being used in another deck of mine. I'll be testing out Magus of the Wheel as soon as I get around to piecing apart my new commander 2015 decks.
Nothing really caught my eye. There are a few vampires with the ability to create zombie tokens, but I do not consider any of them worth putting into my list.
Hey all, Shadows Over Innistrad is already looking like it's going to be very helpful to this deck. Be sure to check out the spoiler page here to keep up with what we have to look forward to!
Relentless Dead is absolutely amazing and will find a spot immediately. Definitely a mid-game play where you can keep up at least B to bring him back, and insane value late-game, as he can recur any zombie STRAIGHT TO THE BATTLEFIELD! Very excited about this guy. He will also play extremely well if you need to sacrifice dudes to Lord of Tresserhorn. Geralf's Masterpiece is probably not going to make the cut, but he's worth a mention as he's one of the rare flying zombies.
But on to bigger and better things! The full Eldrich Moon spoilers are up, and below is a list of cards that, in my opinion, deserve some testing or at least some discussion.
Advanced Stitchwing: Lackluster, but he's a flying zombie with the ability to fill up your graveyard (albeit at the cost of card advantage), and recurrable. Still probably not worth it.
Laboratory Brute: Fills up the yard from the library, but still lackluster.
Cemetery Recruitment: Not a terrible spell, as it usually can net you card advantage, but it is limited by its card type.
Cryptbreaker: An incredible creature. Fills a gap in the deck (early threats), plays well with filling the grave for value, and has late-game ability to do direct damage to opponents without the combat step. He will definitely find a spot in the deck.
Dark Salvation: Meh. Too mana intensive to be worth it most of the time.
Graf Harvest: Very cool idea. The menace can be very relevant, especially with our commander. The activated ability can be relevant sometimes.
Liliana, the Last Hope: She is ok. Her negative is good, and the fact that she doesn't immediately die to it is a bonus. However, her plus ability is trivial in EDH. Her ultimate is great. If I played more planeswalkers, she would be an option.
Noosegraf Mob: I don't like him at all. But if you have consistent ways to put counters on him, he gets way better.
Wailing Ghoul: Cheap way to put cards in the yard. Lackluster.
Gisa and Geralf: Another incredible addition to this deck. They're a large body, they fill your yard, and allow cheap recursion. This will definitely find a spot in the deck.
There are some other more vanilla beaters, but the above are the ones that caught my eye. Any way you look at it, there are a lot of cards to consider with this set. What do you think? Are there cards I missed, or cards you believe will be stronger (or weaker?) in the deck? I appreciate all feedback!

Hey Jwelt, thanks for the feedback! Quite a few of these have been tested or talked about, but here goes:
Anathemancer's ability, in my opinion, is too minor for EDH purposes, though I wouldn't knock someone for using him.
Dregraf Colossus is a solid card, I haven't really tested it much, but I could see it being a solid token creator. My concern is that my list, while pretty true to a zombie theme, is competitive enough where I have a high number of non-Zombie spells, which would mean this guy wouldn't pull his weight as well as he would in a purely zombie tribal deck.
Prized Amalgam is good and is on my list of dudes to test.
Entomb and Buried Alive are both good, but my meta doesn't appreciate combos much, and I try to avoid them where possible. If I were to change up this deck to combo more, these would be absolute includes.
Oversold Cemetery was in my list at some point, but I found it too slow for my liking. I just wasn't triggering it as much as I'd hoped, and I was finding my slots for non-Zombie cards to be very competitive.
Phyrexian Altar used to be in my list, but outside of combo purposes it didn't do much, so I cut it.
Patriarch's Bidding is really good, but in my meta it can also be a liability, and I already have Living Death in the list, which I like a bit more.
Phyrexian Delver is a solid piece of reanimation, but I'm pretty happy with my reanimation suite already. I wouldn't fault anyone for using him though.
Altar of the Brood I am not a fan of in this deck, as it can be a liability if I'm not comboing off, and I combo too infrequently to get a kill with this effect more often than it would cause me problems.
Balthor the Defiled was in my list at one point. He's pretty good, but again, in my meta, it can be a serious liability, and it's an effect that everyone can see coming, as opposed to Living Death and Patriarch's Bidding.
Graveborn Muse is really good, but I do not like that his trigger is a must. If it said may, I'd include it in a heartbeat, but I can see this card possibly killing me.
Hey Outcryqq - as mentioned in January I am going to relaunch my Lord of Tresserhorn deck.
And again I first want to try out zombie tribal with some nice addditions from the latest sets.
(If that does not work I can still try Grixis good stuff)
If your list on the first page is your current one I have a question: do you sometimes have problems with having too few creatures (I count 24)? When I ran Lord of Tresserhorn the last time I had 27 creatures and that felt ok.
Hey MightyPox! Definitely let me know how the relaunch goes, this is still a really fun deck!
To answer your question: yes, I sometimes have problems with having too few creatures. Thankfully between tutors, recursion, and draw engines, I'm generally able to keep a decent body count on the field. But there are games where I simply couldn't find enough bodies to be effective.
Hi all. Conspiracy: Take the Crown full spoilers are up. Below is a list of cards that I thought at least deserved a mention.
Covenant of Minds: It's a mediocre draw spell; however, it has the potential to mill and become a great draw spell. The problem here is that the opponent is given the choice, so if one of the top 3 cards happens to be the card you need in a given situation, you won't get it. Still, it's a draw spell to consider if you're in need of more draw spells.
Capital Punishment: A decent removal spell, but at 6cmc and sorcery speed, I'd probably pass.
Kaladesh is fully spoiled - so what are you considering testing? Below is a list of cards that I think warrant at least discussion:
Demon of Dark Schemes: This guy would be wayyy better if he didn't kill your own zombie tokens. Still, his ability makes him worth a thought.
Noxious Gearhulk: Shame he's not a zombie. Probably not good enough in this deck.
Cathartic Reunion: Pretty solid in that you can discard your zombies and draw, but it's a dead late-game draw when you're in topdeck mode.
Aetherworks Marvel: Probably too much work to be good in this deck, but it will reward you for playing this deck naturally (your permanents hitting the yard often)
Key to the City: Also probably more trouble than it's worth, but this can help make the Lord unblockable, and allows a small amount of draw in the latter portions of the game.
Perpetual Timepiece: In a graveyard hate-filled meta, this might help you keep your important pieces, and keep the juice flowing into your yard for when you need them.
Inventor's Fair: This deck probably has too few artifacts to make proper use of this card, but it's a very powerful card in a lot of EDH decks.
Fastlands: these are probably not great in most EDH decks, but for those on a serious budget they could be used.
So I have not had a chance to test any of the Kaladesh cards, as I recently got married and haven't had much time to play; however, things are slowing down so I'm looking forward to testing some new cardboard!
That being said, the new Commander 2016 decks have been fully spoiled, and below are my impressions of the new cards and their possible effect on this deck:
Magus of the Will: I've always thought about whether this deck would benefit from Yawgmoth's Will. My decision is that it probably would not, but it's fun to think about situations where this would steal a game!
Ancient Excavation: Not a bad card in this deck - you get to filter through a lot of cards and fill up your card, and better yet you CHOOSE which cards end up in the bin. I've been trying to keep my non-creature cards low, so this might not see play in my deck, but I think it could be worth testing.
That's about it. There are some really cool cards, and I really like how they're doing the 4-color decks, but Lord of Tresserhorn won't benefit too much from the new cards.
What are your thoughts? Did I miss anything? Have any other cards been tearing it up for you that I should try?
I'm thinking about building this deck, with a few adjustments.
Even though I love Tresserhorn, I'm planning on using 2 of the new commanders with partner.
I was thinking about running your list without Torpor Orb and maybe the Loxodon Warhammer and bring in Ancient Excavation and play Vial Smasher the Fierce and Kraum, Ludevic's Opus as commanders for more value.
The new partner commanders look like a lot of fun. If you do not use Tresserhorn himself, I agree with cutting Torpor Orb, and it makes cutting Loxodon Warhammer easier, though keep in mind this deck likes to hurt itself and that sources of lifegain are not insignificant.
As to the commanders you are choosing, my fear is that they both lend themselves better to spellslinger-type decks. If you do want to go that route, I'd encourage you to use as many wheel effects as you can, and I especially like the newly spoiled Ancient Excavation. I'd also add Magus of the Wheel and Wheel of Fate. This will keep the gas going in a spellslinger build, and will keep your opponents casing spells so that you can take advantage of the Opus.
Good luck, and please let me know how the deck runs!
So, did you never find a spot for relentless dead?
Yes I did, and he's been fantastic, after I get caught back up here at work (I was gone for a week and a half due to getting married and my honeymoon), I'll update the OP to my current list.
Cool! I'd love to see. I've been playing mono black Gissa zombies. Its fun but kind of weak in contrast to other EDH decks so I'd love to see some of the things you've found, and also maybe try a similar version to you.
Also, whip of Erebos should probably be in this deck. Its insane in my zombie deck. Either gaining loads of life off a zombie horde, or recurring something like grey merchant for game.
Also, whip of Erebos should probably be in this deck. Its insane in my zombie deck. Either gaining loads of life off a zombie horde, or recurring something like grey merchant for game.
My issue with Whip of Erebos is that it exiles my creature at end of turn. I played the heck out of the card while it was in standard, so I understand how powerful it can be; however, in EDH, zombies on their own are not very powerful. Rather, their power comes in the way they keep coming back, over and over again. The deck wins a fair share of games by repeatedly killing and recasting something like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, so exiling it with the whip would be a problem.

Melira PodRIP 1/19/15GWHatebearsMy issue with Whip of Erebos is that it exiles my creature at end of turn.
