to make it modern viable, first tweak i'd make is swapping out the eldrazi. I feel annilator is more desirable as well as friendly to splashing through the breach
This is possibly better as a SCD, and you should probably update the title to have the full "Aetherworks Marvel" rather than just "Aetherworks" as some people may not know what it is.
That aside, I think running Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is better than Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre as you not only exile the cards, but get two instead of one. If your Ulamog gets Pathed before attacking then you would have wanted the 2-for-1. Although the art on ROE Ulamog is far better so it does make it a hard choice....
I have been looking at quite a few deck to pay with Aetherworks Marvel. RG Breach type decks are an option. Eggs seems like it could really abuse it. There is a lot of possibility with the card but at it's base form it is a 4 mana do-nothing. You can set up to activate it right on the turn it's played, but by doing that then you are probably playing sub-par cards and falling behind in other aspects. In the offchance you just whiff on the activation you will just straight up lose the game.
You will probably see more from me in the future with the card but I do tend to not post a lot of my brews unless they are super-jank status or could have some merit.

I think the incidental hate for affinity and TRON's early plays would make piloting the deck full of headaches for games 2-3. There are also a ton of very fast decks that don't really care about a T4 ulamog much (elves, fish if they have enough island walk already, infect, affinity, etc.).
I think it could be a fine kitchen table deck, especially with additional energy support coming in Aether Revolt hopefully.

The shell to cast big Eldrazi is pretty terrible in Modern as you have to play so many incredible terrible cards, just to produce energy and you fight all the hate in form of counterspells and artifact hate aswell.
Theres simply better options to play Prime Time if you want to go that way.

Using Greater Gargadon as a "sacrifice" engine to fuel its own energy production works probably way better.
Then you can use a bunch of self-sacrifice artifacts like Chromatic Star to make it work aswell (which you can also sacrifice conveniently in Greater Gargadon).
Fetchlands are self explaining.
Mana boosting would work well with stuff like Pentad Prism, which again is an artifact you can sacrifice if in need.
Primeval Titan shell might be good enough, so you could use Nahiri, Emrakul and a Through the Breach engine just like the allready classic R/G Prime Time does.
A potential infinited combo with the marvel would be with Faith's Reward and self-sacrifice effects (Greater Gargadon works best, as it big, potentially a game-winner, especially if you draw multiples in the engine, and it makes sure you get all permanents back from a reward), together with a Eternal Witness its allready infinited.
A nice engine would allow the inclusion of Chalice of the Void to answer 1-2 mana hate cards.
Nahiri answers enchantments against you quite nicely, while they can not really interact with a suspended Greater Gargadon (unless they have the Processor Eldrazi, which are not a thing anymore).

So i think a shell , maybe combination of Prime Time and Greater Gargadon / Faith's Reward / Eternal Witness, could be a very potent engine for modern, as you will actually combo infinited fairly easy and it allows you to tutor all your cards, while you are able to actually cast them in the first place just aswell (so nothing you draw is dead).
And most important, you dont want to have a easy to disrupt deck, so hitting a lot of angles is a plus too, while you can pack hate cards against them.
that would be an interesting engine using Greater Gargadon..... adding faith's reward, maybe thats a thing, I wasn't envisioning aetherworks marvel as a version of "eggs" but if that is the path that ultimately works, then so be it. untill then.....
Did some quick brainstorming. Here's a sloppy first draft, probably the direction I would build towards. Maybe cut some removal for more draw artifacts, and sideboard would include stuff like Relic of Progenitus, artifact removal, more removal (a la Anger of the Gods), etc. I don't see the need to splash a color that isn't red, mostly because of space issues. If you don't draw Aetherworks Marvel, you're dead on board. Only color that I would possibly splash is green for Ancient Stirrings and some ramp/filtering (fetchlands, etc). I feel like Spark fits well in this deck because of the 12 creatures with CMC >=10 (plus it allows you to pay alternative costs so you can suspend Gargadon), and Gargadon gives you enough sac power to wipe your own board for Emrakul or Ulamog to be conjured up with Aetherworks. Still seems really janky.
They wont print enough good energy cards for it to be viable. If they did, it would break Standard.
As it stands, I don't think that the card is remotely playable. A lot of conditions need to be met. First off you need a heavy load of big fatties. This isn't an issue if you put it in a Through the Breach deck but it does severely limit the design space to pretty much only that. If you for instance could go through your whole deck instead of just the top 6, it would not just be a bad version of Through the Breach but open up for different kind of designs. Second off, you need a self sac/energy sub-theme which limit the design space to an unacceptable degree. Being 1 mana cheaper than Through the Breach is a small upside compared to the huge downside of you needing to fill the deck with a bunch of supporting junk. For instance if you cut the support and replaced it with mana accel that would help you cast TtB 1 turn earlier you'd be far better off.
Yes, it does bring consistency to the deck, making it a functional Through the Breach 5-8 but decks like that already have access to Goryo's Vengeance which has a lot smaller deck building requirements. In fact playing cheap spells that loot is something you wouldn't mind putting into a Through the Breach deck to begin with.
What I have been looking into the card with is a Locket of Yesterdays and Grinding Station Eggs shell. You have your typical Eggs lists now a days that look like this using KCI and higher cmc artifacts:
Some lists even go as far as to drop Reshape + Lotus Bloom Then there are the old eggs lists that are lower cmc and rely super heavily on the recursive cards. I began looking at a balance that could be found between KCI and Aetherworks Marvel and all of the cheap artifacts found in original eggs lists. You will be generating a lot of energy with an AM out, and in getting multiples of them means you can get multiple activations. Ideally you want to be hitting a Faith's Reward or Lotus Bloom for maximum value. Without using KCI you won't have a ton of mana, but AM can still cast Open the Vaults if you're lucky. The reason I like Am, in some numbers, is that it gives you some reach in the gas needed to combo off and keep comboing off. KCI is good at starting the combo, but will stall with a few bad draws. The numbers are not final yet, but I'm sure the right numbers are out there.
Locket + Grinding Station can become an insane engine, making everything drawn cost 0. From there it is actually easier to mill your own deck, constantly killing an Aetherworks Marvel and bringing it back with one of the many ways. Every time it comes into play you can just grab the best of your top 6 to keep going. Would a deck like this warrant a more powerful draw card like Ichor Wellspring? Probably. The mill from Grinding Station can be your wincon, or you could use the classic Pyrite Spellbomb loop.

For Marvel to be good in this format you have to play good cards. I would start by using energy cards that can work in this format as well as things that can sacfice themselves that ARE ALSO good on their own.
Energy cards that are good in modern:
-Rouge Refiner (cantriping is always nice)
-Aether Hub (easy to run since it is a land)
-harnessed lightning (removal that can act as a pseudo Skred for this deck)
-Glimmer of Genius (This is actually being ran by itself in some UW control decks because it's so good)

You'd probably do better with the Standard deck than this.
Ancient Stirrings can help find the Marvel (or lands to cast it).
The problem with a deck like is that it does nothong without Marvel and there is no reliable tutor for it in R/G so you have to splash Blue (for Fabricate) which is othewise unecessary.
Aetherworks marvel can hit any card not just creatures. The big eldrazi are certainly the most game ending but boom/bust can also be hit and has a side that can be cast without aetherworks marvel and if you hit it it will probably let you fire the marvel next turn too.
Given how many modern playables are in Kaladesh, yes buy them. There haven't been sets as good as Eldrich Moon and Kaladesh for Modern in ages, and just because there isn't a modern Marvels deck yet doesn't mean that someone isn't going to finally cook a net deck list up eventually. Also, don't underestimate the puzzle knot cycle. I'm pretty sure there will be some good cards in the upcoming sets as well, but we have to see full spoilers.

Frank Karsten did the math on hitting a bomb off of Marvle here which I think is really good to know about and account for when building your deck. He has some good points in the article even though it is standard.

why use standard junk when you can use thirst for knowledge, Chromatic Sphere, Chromatic Star, Relic of Progenitus, Expedition Map. All the artifacts trigger marvel and thirst is just great in this strat.

I was looking at Dynavolt Tower that plus phyrexian mana could ramp up a lot of energy counters.
(gitaxian probe noxious revival) beyond those two other dig spells certainly contribute as well. serum visions green land ramp, etc. ancient stirrings.
harnessed lightning may yet still have some part to play in this. 20 energy and 1 stuffy doll would be a silly combo, but doesn't feel unviable.
