I ended up staying home and resting. A few more days and I'll be reasonably back to normal. Time to start working up to grand prix OKC in December. Had anyone got any testing in with new lists and unclaimed territory?

Lifecrafter's Bestiary is the opposition of Vial, no point of playing both
If you want to go grind way replace Vials with some lands and slivers
Otherwise replace Bestiary with Striking, Sentinel or Dismember
I have been doing a little online slivering. Not any tournaments because I still need practice to not go to time which I have done even in my practice games.
There are just a lot of interactions that make it so we can't just speed through turns. Here I am just griping about MTGO at the moment.
I haven't faced a lot of top decks. Storm was a loss unless we can get enough threats or vial and back it up with Warping Wail if they go for it. We need to force them to go for it or Warping Wail will have little effect even if we blow up the dork.
I am looking at the new Simic Merfolk and it plays a lot like how Fast Slivers would. The issue for slivers is that we don't have the 12 cantrip spells that Simic Merfolk has to stay relevant past the first few turns, nor the countermagic or possibility for grindier stuff.

i see one issue with part of the Sideboard, With the Lifecrafter's Bestiary, you have only one green source (maybe 2 if yer lucky with the Gemstone Caverns), to activate it.
The Lifecrafter's Bestiary is mostly for the scry. It is also mostly for Jeskai, U/W Control, and other grindy control games like Lantern Control who have Path to Exile (I know lantern doesn't). It is admitted lower value against Jund where I probably wouldn't bring it in and should preferably have Hivelord in 1 of its places.

Why dont people use my tested build with results and instead opt for a vastly rebuilt list which I think severely hurts decks idea?) Try my list, play 10-20 matches, THEN start changing things putting aside what you believe underperforms and throwing in new techs. I dont think I remember a single response thay they tested my exact list, despite my numerous explanations why I think my card choices are better
I second doubt on Lifecrafter's Bestiary, green ability is uncastable and scry alone isnt worth it.
I have been playing slivers for a just found this forum post. A couple people were asking about ad nauseam. That is a really hard match-up, but the best cards against it are harmonic, necrotic, and chalice. Harmonic blows up their mana eggs. Necrotic dose the same, but you can also stone rain them. Chalice of the void on 1 stops them from cantriping through their deck and counters angel's grace. They can still cast unlife, but they are always at risk of you blowing and causing them to lose. If you are able to lock down their mana, you can overrun for the win. I haven't ever played mindlash, but if you can keep them with one card in had, they can't win.
I see a lot of you have been having trouble with burn. I have lost to burn once out of 10 times. I play 2 darkheart in the main and block their creature till I get him. If you play him right, it is impossible for burn to win, once he's on the field. They play about 19/17 1 and 2 CMC spells respectively, so chalice is still really good on either number. Also, their sideboard for us is all 2 CMC spells.
Have you tried the diffusion trick against add nauseum? Basically sandbag a land until they go to combo off and redirect the lightning storm to a sliver while you have diffusion in play. This creates a trigger making the spells controller pay 2 additional mana or else counter the spell. 99% of the time they won't have it available and can't pay so the storm is countered even if they redirect again.
Hey everyone,
I finally got back to playing tonight with traditional slivers.
Went 2-2 at FNM.
Round 1,2-0 vs 8 rack. Mutavault was mvp of game 1. Game 2 I was able to coco on turn 3 which led to his demise. This 8 rack player decided to be on the draw both games, I thought that was strange.
Round 2, 1-2 vs bant vizier combo. Game 1 I got mana flooded and couldn't keep threats up. Game 2 I dropped cocos on turn 3 and 4 to pile up the damage quickly. Game 3, he comboed off before my turn 3. Saw both dismembers in game 2, but saw neither them nor the 2 warping wails in game 3.
Round 3, 2-1 vs burn. Game 1, burn did burn things, I want able to find the darkhearts. Game 2 I saw a darkheart and it was relevant enough to swing the game. Game 3, my opponent have me the game in 1 horrible turn. He had 2 eidolons on board, i had 2 vials ( on 1 and 2) a galerider, predatory, and darkheart. the vial on 1 was used for the gale rider, the vial on 2 was up, i had sinew in hand. I swing I with darkheart for 3 damage. He cast lightning bolt, eating 2 eidolon triggers. I respond bringing in the sinew. He responds with another bolt, eating 2 more triggers. My response was to sac it and gain 3 life. So that turn my opponent ate 8 damage from his own eidolons and i gained 3 life.
Round 4, 1-2 vs storm. Game 1 and 2 were very quick. He stormed off on turn 4 game 1 and mulled to 4 cards game 2. Game 3 was epic! I had brought in warping wails and the 1 relic along with life link. I saw both wails and a dismember in the game and managed to keep barals off the board. I likely should have held the second wail for the eventual past in flames which was my mistake but it took him to hard cast the flashback of past in flames and chain manamorphoses just to greet going. He managed to pull it off but i have him one hell of a fight.
My list is in my signature if any of you want to have a look.
I saw where you guys mentioned that trick a couple pages back. I asked a judge about that at FNM. He confirmed that even if they redirect it with more lands, there is a trigger to counter the spell on the stack and they still have to pay. I'd imagine that they would go for the lab man win, if you did that in all the games after that. Most lists play 4 sprite guides, but some play a desperate ritual. Two lands or two diffusion would be better, but that is rare.
3-1-1 at FNM 4th/20
Round 1 1-2 vs Jund 1) Slow start and they had 2 abrupt decays, 1 Liliana, and 2 goyfs.
SB) + 1 hivelord, 1 diffusion, 2 frenetic, 1 chameleon - 1 blur, 2 darkheart, 1 gemhide, 1 galerider
2) Opponent kept a greedy hand and I had diffusion and a couple slivers. I ended up killing him with 2 galeriders and a mutavault.
3) I had the gas of hivelord, necrotic, frenetic, manaweft, coco. I was play off only fetch lands and got mana screwed after manaweft ate a push. He then played blood moon and that was the loack.
O) This was really 3 non-games. Also, I realized afterwards that I don't always know what to take out. I shouldn't have took out the gemhide or galerider.
Round 2 2-0 vs UB Control 1) lots of lords including a sedge to regenerate from a verdict.
SB) + 1 diffusion, 2 frenetic - 1 blur, 2 darkheart
2) Lots of lords, diffusion, and frenetic
O) I have officially love frenetic. It may just be a 50/50, but it's just fun flipping a coin to see if verdict works.
Round 3 1-1-1 vs B devotion 1) I stated slow but, started to build a board and stabilize 4. He played gray merchant for 8.
SB) + 1 diffusion, 2 frenetic, 1 chameleon - 1 blur, 2 sentinel, 1 ?????
2) I built a big board, but was at a stall because of phyrexian obliterator. I slivercycled for galerider and over ran him
3) I stabilized at 1 with darkheart. I slivercycled for a necrotic to get obliterator off the board in response to gray. I just ran out of time to kill him.
O) Homing is extremely good. The look on you oppenet's face when it happens is priceless. I would have liked syphon in this matchup.
Round 4 2-0 Venser lock w/ Saheeli combo 1) Lots of lords. I killed the saheeli as soon as it came down.
SB) + 1 telekinetic, 2 mindlash - 1 blur, 1 diffusion, 1 sentinel
2) Lots of lords, necrotic, and sedge. I vindicated the cat and stonehorn dignitary in response to the saheeli
O) The deck was working on all cylinders. It really showed playing multiple lords in modern is just good.
Round 5 2-0 Lantern 1) Turn 3 coco, sedge and homing. I cycled to the necrotic. I established the vindicate lock.
SB) + 3 chalice, 3 harmonic, 2 mindlash, 1 screeching - 2 darkheart, 2 sinew, 2 sentinel, 1 blur, 1 diffusion, 1 vial
2) The opponent kept a bad hand. I resolved a harmonic turn 4 and had mana to make tokens.
O) I was really excited boarding in 9 cards. Chalice on 1 is really bad for them. Harmonic just wins the game. I wanted to mill them.
The deck did pretty good. I definitely like the homing and frenetic. I want to use the mindlash and chameleon. I think chameleon is a good card, but i'm not sold on mindlash yet. Also, I'm always torn on what to take out besides darkheart. Every other sliver could be good in most matchups.
I bring in chalice in match-ups were it slows them down a lot or stops their combo.
Storm ( on 2 ) - 2 sentinel, 1 blur ; all rituals are hit
Affinity ( 0 on the play, 2 late game, out on the draw) - 3 diffusion ; stop their quick starts
Shadow ( on 1 ) - 2 darkheart, 1 blur ; hits ~26 cards
Lantern ( on 1 ) - 2 darkheart, 1 diffusion ; hits ~ 22 cards
Ad Nas ( on 1 ) - 2 darkheart, 1 blur ; hits cantrips, fog, angel's grace
Infect ( on 1 ) - 2 darkheart, 1 blur ; hits ~26 card
Boggles ( on 1 ) - 3 diffusion ; hits ~24
Living end ( on 0 ) - 3 diffusion ; hit's living end
I used to play it against burn, but they have shifted to more 2 CMC spells and turn 3/4 chalice instead of coco is bad. Also, darkheart is much better than chalice against them.

I would use the same strat except I think Chalice on 2 vs storm is only viable if you have manadork otherwise its too slow
Also Id use it on 1 vs Burn on the play (maybe on 2 on the play with mana dork)
I have 3 Chalice and have been thinking about running with them, but havent pulled the trigger yet. I might just try to find room for them for this coming week.
You are siding out Blur alot. I might keep it for matches we need to race as Blur provides those advantages. Any combo deck, blur is going to be pretty good. I might side out other utility slivers depending on the matchup. Diffusion/Sentinel/Darkheart/Galerider depending on the matchup. I just highly prize haste from slivers since it helps our explosive starts and turn 4 wins.
Sideboading is something that I struggle with a lot. I usually know what I want to bring in, but don't know what to take out. I've been transferring my deck to tappedout and putting notes for each match up. If we figured out some sideboarding rules, I'll add them to my notes for each match up. The link to my note is down below. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/28-12-16-modern-slivers/
I acknowledge that Fast Slivers are probably better in this environment see Simic Merfolk.
The issue with fast slivers is something that Simic Merfolk can do, but fast Slivers can't. It is card selection/advantage. It is the reason why I find the Fast Sliver list both tantalizing and frustrating. It can kinda work in legacy and pauper because the formats are different. Legacy works because of crystalline and there isn't a ton of creatures being played as their are in modern as well as less removal over all. Slivers can get larger in pauper and there is less power over all so a syngerstic deck can win. Notice though that Slivers are fringe in both of these formats.
With the amount of removal and relatively lack of good protection cards for slivers (mutagenic growth is weaker now that fatal push is in the format and lightning bolt is mostly gone). Apostle's Blessing might be an answer, but it still has major issues. It is why I was theorycrafting with Smuggler's Copters in my earlier list to provide at least some card selection if not advantage to provide the right slivers in the right time.
Also his list is old as he himself admitted that it was mostly done before hte current metagame and before fatal push.
Despite my concerns, I am planning on testing it as soon as I get some of the cards or money online to testing. I got the standard bug for Dinosaurs, so I haven't been playing as many FNMs for modern and I take a different deck to the occasional modern tournament. I do play Slivers on line, but I haven't entered a tournament as the learning curve on MTGO is slow for me. Modern Slivers I am taking way too much time playing and leave many a game lost due to time out. Fast Slivers could solve this, but I need to buy the missing cards and find a build that I like which will mostly likely include Aether Vial which isn't in his list to 1, not die to blood moon and 2 to get down faster as well as tricks
