couple notes on things above... that BR list , i played a league with it and it was pretty bad.
cavern is not necessary... its not wrong, but theres other lands that are more important i think. if you look at the last two lists posted (jordans classic, and my comp league 5-0)... neither have any caverns... our lists were the same but i had 3 ratchet bomb 2 neeedle, he had 4 bomb 1 needle) ... 0 endless ones.
idk I've found 1 cavern to be fine, though I wouldn't play any more than that.
what have you thought of scavenger grounds? maybe it's just my meta but I haven't found it all too impressive.

Also on one cavern over one sea gate wreckage.
Scavenger grounds are great, and two is the right number I've found. It just does so much against a variety of decks.

ive been playing 1 cavern over a scavenger grounds as I don't like playing more than one. I think the draws in the mid-late game are far too valuable.
although I like 1 tectonic edge over 2nd scavenger grounds or cavern. The 5th LD just feels so good to me.

I’ve never quite understood why anyone would want to Serum Powder. I realize this deck is mostly 4-ofs, but why would you want to exile cards from your deck?

Who cares what's in your deck? Are you going to draw all 60 cards over the course of a game? All that matters is what's in your hand.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

Do any of you recall any instances in which you chose to mull instead of Powder? I've never done it in the better part of a year I've played the deck. Only time I can think I'd do it would be if I had an unkeepable hand with Powder and three or four of a "must see" card in the matchup.

Once on the fourth serum powder where I had exiled too many lands.
It's still wrong. Always Powder instead.
I mean.. Hand of three smasher, two TKS, one mimic and powder... You'd powder away most of your top end?
Well done on your successful finish, Jordan. I especially like the photo of you with your trophy, almost channeling the retro geek-chic aesthetic of Hot Chip (you know those guys? Legendary).
I've had this deck built for the longest time, sitting in a box next to the Tron lands and other gubbins for eldrazi Tron (made a point of having both decks available) but somehow never got round to playing it (or eldrazi Tron for that matter)
#firstworldproblems I guess. I never quite got over the ban haha
In a funny sort of way, the deck will be worse in aggregate because it'll be more of a known factor, but at the same time I feel like I'll have more confidence to pick it up when I walk out the door instead of one of the other decks I usually pick up (Tron, jund, devoted druid, turns, scapeshift, KCI etc)
Grats on the finish. Guess I'll be getting back into the eldrazi fold.
I remember distinctly after the ban extolling the virtues of gemstone caverns for this deck, but at the time eternal scourge was just a distant glint in someone's eye. I also remember arguing against the inclusion of serum powder (which in a non-scourge list was totally the right call). The whole thing seems more well-rounded now that scourge acts as the glue for these effects-with-downside and turns them into weird benefits =)

"Always"
Huh... I have to admit that wasn't the response I expected =)
There's got to be a point where your returns are diminished though, right? I'm trusting you as the expert on the deck but I'm also conscious that those "always" autopilot decisions can situationally wreck you.
I mean in the above example, is losing three of your smashers and two TKS worth being 'up' a card after mulligans? In that example I'd be seriously questioning whether or not to just take a regular mull. Maybe you can explain this one to provide the insight I'm lacking, because without that top-end I'd worry a bunch of 3/2s and 3/3s would struggle to get there. Feel free to point me in the right direction here of course, I think your explanation for how to evaluate these sorts of considerations will help me play the deck.

I definitely powder away hands the have a solid amount of my top end and no meaningful way of casting them. Even if it's something like: 1x Powder 3x Smasher 2x Scourge, 1x Temple. A "mull to 9" is just too valuable to pass up, especially if you're post-board and you have relic as you can just chump block and loop scourges for days and swing with man lands. It's virtually never ending card advantage!
I'd keep a hand of: 1x Smasher, 2x TKS, 1x Powder, 1x Scourge, 2x Temple. T2 and T3 TKS seems too good and powdering away two temples is likely a bad idea. Of course though, I could be wrong...
So someone's making a play on Gemstone Caverns now... mtggoldfish has the card spiking from $10 to roughly $40.
Everyone's gotta make a living I suppose, but for my part, **** the speculators. They're the scalpers of the MtG world. Hope the guy loses his shirt on a reprint sometime soon.

The basic idea is ditch the hands that aren't doing something busted on T1/2 and keep the ones that are, so your outline is correct.
Does anybody have any thoughts on the spoiled Damping Sphere from Dominaria? It doesn't seem like a big deal for this deck but I don't know. If it doesn't come out turn two or three on the play it's kind of useless against us cuz we would've already curved out. But, using up a whole turn just to deny us an extra mana and giving us a free swing doesn't seem that great anyways. With 8 3 drops in the list it isn't like we will whiff for a turn and our manlands can pick up some slack as well. I can see why the card was printed but I feel like it's a bit irresponsible of a card, it's gonna have a lot of unintended targets.
