How has your build of the deck felt without Spell Snare?
I really just couldn't find room for it. I learned from some of the other users of this thread that having a mainboard Dispel is very useful for helping you successfully combo off g1, so I picked it over Snare. I've gotten burned by topdecking stuff like Snare when a Dispel for an eventual topdecked Kiki would be miles better, but I've also had bad experiences of getting Thoughtseized and the opponent playing around the Snare the rest of the game while it rotted in my hand -- both in Twin and in Kiki. So yeah, I would want to play 1, but I don't have the room and Dispel is just better in most contexts.
For example, against Esper you have to play into snare to create a possible opening later (which is partially why Snare is so good in that deck and why it plays 3-4 of them -- they have pressure you or you just solitaire the game away with draw spells, at which point they can't win. If they try to blank Snare, they're facilitating your gameplan.) This is not the case against UR Kiki, since we have to win via creature beats or combo, both of which are easily disrupted. Sitting on threats vs one Snare isn't the end of the world, because we don't pressure them to win, only to respect the combo, the beats, and (in my case) Blood Moon. That's part of the reason I like Blood Moon in the main.
This a my new list that I'll be taking to Modern when my extra pieces get here. Feel free to post how you guys think the list looks. I took a very rough draft to modern last week
(old list in spoiler). The wandering is new but jund is REALLY heavy in my meta, so when they bring in crumble to dust, I don't wanna lose 4 lands if I don't have a counter for it, plus I like the color fixing it gives since I've added more commands alongside the 2 kiki's.
Tournament report 8-2-16
Results were 2-1-1 (Last one was Intentional Draw in the last round. I knew him and he needed to head home early)
First round Jund
He mulls to 5, but everything seems to run out of his deck just fine. I can't answer an early tireless tracker, So it basically runs away with the game while he keeps drawing lands. the only pressure i drew was a v clique and that was taken care of very quickly, and he hits 2 of his discard spells so i fire off a lightning helix or 2 before they got hit but I don't really draw anything this game that doesn't get answered very quickly. I am able to try to combo off with Resto/Kiki with 2 lucky top decks, but he has an answer for the kiki, and i lose in 2 turns from not seeing a path to exile
You guys will have to help me on my sideboarding, I don't remember what I did honestly, because im terrible at sideboarding. I should have brought in my Geist of Saint traft from the board but for some reason I didn't.
0-1
This game goes my way. I have answers for hia threats, and slowly start the attrition battle, and win the war when Colonnade starts hitting unanswered, then i see a elspeth which takes the game over in 3 turns. I didnt see many discard spells this game so everything felt a lot easier lol
1-1
This game i get wrecked. I'm stalling on 2 lands, and when i finally start getting some traction, timely discard spells followed by 2 fulminator mage, AND a crumble to dust, then a k command, and he rides raging ravine to victory while i have a basic island and a desolate lighthouse. Complete Destruction

Affinity! Round 2
Game 1:
He comes out blazing with the nut hand, but I don't see any counterspells, affinity does what they do when you can't answer cranial plating and the 3rd steel overseer lol
BRING IN THE HATE
0-1
GAME 2
it's grindy, but i have answers to the big threats, but he's slamming in with etched champion slowly killing me. A lucky top deck lightning helix stalls the game so the next 2 turns i top deck a resto then kiki for the win!
1-1
GAME 3
we both mulligan to 5. The cards fall in his favor for the first few turns, but i keep drawing answers and spells. I ride restoration angel to victory here with a few burn spells to back it up. Felt pretty good.
2-1
2-1 total counting the bye.
2-1-1 counting intentional draw.
More to come next week
I havent finished this tournament write up yet, my kids woke up mid typing lol
but anyways im excited to try out my new list. I want to add 2 Leyline of Sanctity in my sideboard, because I hate all that discard jund/abzan brings to the table and it always feels like a tough match up.

If jund is popular in your meta I'd put a keranos in the sb. If you get a Keranos on an even board. You will likely win. I wouldn't worry about crumble on collonade. You have counter magic and it's such a big tempo loss for them. I play jund and I don't bring in crumble against any collonade deck.
It's also interesting you don't play ancestral vision is there a reason? It's very helpful in the jund match up. I've beat jund with ur kiki the last 2 times I played it. Ancestral was pretty key in allowing me to trade aggressively and still have cards in hand.

I do have Keranos, and I definitely miss that powerhouse!
I also have 2 Ancestral Vision that I did have in the sideboard. I just took it out to try new things, it seemed my ancestral would never come at the right times, but the deck was MUCH different than it is now.
Would you recommend putting the AV side or main? My meta is pretty competitive honestly. Lots of tier 1 decks in general, and im also noticing an uptake in Bant Eldrazi.
I'm pretty open to suggestions on what you guys think
I like av main and I wouldn't play more then 3. I would consider moving them to the side if there was alot of aggro. My meta is very grindy.
I also prefer desolate lighthouse over tec edge. Being able to filter our draws. It helps us use our mana every turn. makes serum visions better late game.
How are you finding elspeth? I've been thinking of including a planeswalkers or 2 in my sb

I had deaolate lighthouse, and honestly I never once used the filter. So I decided I would try Ghost Quarter or Tec Edge to be able to remove a raging ravine or gavony township.
I'll start with AV in my side and over the next few weeks I'll see how it handles, because there are a lot of aggro decks as well. And Serun Visions has been doing very well for me in filtering in that aspect.
In regards to Elseph, she is awesome. I honestly love her. She stabilized me against jund last week, and I have used her countless times before. She is probably one of the only cards I'm not hesitant on keeping in my post 15 cards. My sideboard constantly changes but that always comes back lol

Yeah could be play style differences. I'm thinking of trying jace architect of thought. In the sb
Oh I love Jace AOT. I just can never find room for him lol I have 2 in my optional sideboard cards. He's slowly starting to creep back around in scg deck lists as well as Gideon Ally.

I think it has alot going for it. Good in the grindy match ups. Dodges celestial purge which keranos doesnt. Doesn't die to decay.
I playtested my deck against my brothers affinity deck, and he got me 2-1. I smashed him the first game with t5 win, 2nd game I drew all creatures and no removal, 3rd game i knew i had to get around blood moon, and i saw too many serum visions and non basics, and 3 arid mesas. If just one would have been a flooded I would have been able to search for a basic island but since it wasnt, as soon as as blood moon came down i of course did not have the answer, and proceeded to draw blue heavy spells, and my 4th arid mesa. So I took out an arid for a flooded, and will be getting a scalding tarn as well to help better fight this in the future.
When I played uwr twin in the past. Affinity always felt fairly easy. Stoney silence and so much removal with snapcaster.
How did you sideboard?
I think you just have to accept uwr is weak to blood moon. No matter how much I tuned my mana base blood moon always got me.
I'm surprised to see no discussion on a light black splash. Outside of hard removal, Kolaghan's Command is a massive incentive to be in black. Kiki-Jiki is a weaker combo piece, but it does mean you're able to continually threaten the combo if it's broken up with every K Command.
This is the decklist I've been testing, using Andrew Tenjum's old list as a base. While the objective power level of this deck is lower, it's well rounded. 4 Pestermite means you play a better fair game and you're able to leave the combo in more often when you never getting two-for-one'd by going for it. I'm not sure if the 3rd Island should be a Wandering Fumarole, but Blood Moon tends to be pretty powerful for me locally.

I brought in 2 Stony silence, wear tear, negate, dispel and wrath of god. Took out remands, mana leaks (maybe next time i should leave them in?) 1 bolt, and i think i took out a resto. Like you said the match up feels easy honestly, so i wasnt super worried. But when your deck wants you to have crap, you're going to get crap sometimes even with serum visions and fetches lol and if I had drawn wear tear i would have beaten it cuz i had a basic plains out, just needed the time and he had a very good clock lol oh well sometimes it happens. Ill be playing modern next week for sure so ill post another review. Oh that reminds me ill finish my write up from last week now!

And it shouldn't surprise you that no one is talking about a black splash, since people are barely talking in this thread in general lololol i think it's cool, but it's just too much for me. I wanna get better at running 3 colors before i think about adding another one lol but i love the idea of tasigur amd k command in this bad boy though:D
Against affinity with your sb. I'd bring in the wrath, 2 Stoney, anger, explosives, wear/tear. And start cuts with remand then cryptics. Then v clique. Remand just isn't where you want to be against affinity. Cryptic is too slow and unlikely to get alot of value. And v clique is the same.
Negate and dispel don't do enough in the match up. If your under the kind of pressure that forces a turn 5 combo you can't hold up dispel anyway. And negate only really hits plating. Where mana leak isn't great it can get a plating on the play and their 3 drops.

I honestly like the idea of crytpics after sideboard. I like the idea of forcing a ravager sac when I bounce it to their hand, or bounce something that already has a bunch of counters on it, or even just taping the team and drawing a card seems ok enough if im relying on the combo, tap down something with deceiver, cryptic team bounce/draw, kiki. perfect world scenario sure, but not highly unlikely to happen. I definitely get the remands, dispel/negate was just something to bring in if they brought in instant action against me. You're suggestions definitely make sense to me though. I'm not sure why i didnt bring in EE... but i get it now lol
I really like the general idea of your list but imo if you are going that deep into the combo (6 creatures to combo with) you should go more into Kikis.
The biggest (and only really) advantage jeskai Kiki has over Jeskai Nahiri or traditional Jeskai with restos (and one or no kiki, no exarchs) is the maximum potential of killing your oponent on turn 5 out of the blue.
This is especially potent vs decks such as Scapeshift, Tron, RG Breach and other non interactive combo and big mana decks.
All of these are traditionally bad matchups for blue based control but if you maximize your chance of a turn 5 "twin" this migt not be the case for your deck.
Another thing that could be interesting is playing Ancestral vision main (instead or along side of additional kikis) since a turn 1 AV lines up well with your turn 5 "twin" plan.
On that note: how consistantly have you been getting turn 5 Kiki mana and has it ever interfered with cryptic command mana?
I allways have reservations about running those two cards together
URx Kiki is a passion project of mine currently because i refuse to believe that there isn' t a (combo focused) version of the deck that can be competetive on the large scale ^^
thanks for the reply! I haven't been to a modern event since I got the update list, So I can't speak from experience on the mana base, However from my playtest with affinity, I drew Cascade Bluffs almost every game so that is definitely ideal for both Kiki and Command. I imagine I'll have to get a scalding tarn or 2, and possibly another bluffs, but we will see with testing. I am able to go to modern this tuesday so hopefully I do not get the first round bye, and I can play some freaking magic lol
I'm not opposed to adding AV in the main, it's just been pretty bad throughout my testing so far, but that was before I had this combo version built so im definitely willing to give it another try. I understand what you're saying about utilizing the combo as quickly as possible and this helps ensure that pretty much.
My sideboard will be changing before Tuesday, So I'll be posting the new deck list before I go and edit the thread with my results of the night.
You have some interesting points. I agree with you on many of them. And disagree on some. I have found nahiri to go a good match up. I wouldn't bring keranos in that match up anyway. I don't like any 5 mana bomb against other control decks.
As for affinity. Try putting in a single stomping ground (if you can replace your deltas with mistys) and using ancient grudge in the sideboard.I've also used it to bluff being a 3 colour deck and getting them hard with blood moon. Keranos for me is only a concession to jund. You'll see my list back a few posts. I'm playing a few more counters. I'll try a list with a bit more removal.
Izzet charm has not been great for me. I'll be looking to cut that first.
As for 4 mana planeswalkers i really like jace AoT. It doesn't get hit by celestial purge. And can immediately get you 2 cards or atleast 1. It's just insane card advantage if left unchecked.
I wrote this at work sorry for any spelling errors or if I'm not being clear. Will clarify if needed
I have not had any problem with the 1 stomping ground and have considered dropping it. But that has way more to do with my meta having no affinity players.
I have found the blue control mirror to be favourable. They are always afraid to tap out. I will try goblin dark dwellers in the sb for jund.
My thought on the blue control mirror I find that there are alot of tap out control decks, And we are abe to force action on there EoT. I like to stay pretty combo focused only trimming 1 or 2 pieces.
8 cantrips and 4 kiki seems like to many. I think cutting 2 anticipate for 2 lightning helix and 1 kiki for the 4th resto will give you some more game against jund. And still leave in plenty of combo.
I personally would find replacements for anticipate but if they work for you. Keep them.
Glad to see you did well. I'm not a fan of reality hemorage. I would play kozileks return if I really wanted that devoid damage. I cant agree more that people have forgotten how to play against deceiver and blood moon.
I am excited to test goblin dark-dwellers just because copying him with kiki seems like insane value. My meta is super grindy and aggro it may be worth trying batterskull.
If anyone's interested, I top 8'd a 45 person IQ. I went 5-1 in swiss and lost in quarters to the guy who eventually won on Infect. My list is down below.

Thank you for sharing your list! I like a lot about it. You and I must think along the same axis when it comes to UR Kiki (I know that it's been a while since I posted a list, but it would include many of the cards you have there -- even in the same numbers).

any thoughts on the card choices? any changes moving foward? interested to hear some of your thoughts on the deck ive just started playing it and was hoping to take it to the local 1k in a couple days.
@TheAnnihilator0798
The list felt very tight, but I felt like I wanted another threat that could be good in both the tempo/bluemoon sideboard plan. Pia and Kiran is actually amazing in this deck and helps grind in slow matchup and control the board against Aggro decks. In order to make room I had cut Cryptic Commands. I love Cryptic, but it is far too slow right now to be relevant most games.
@jlm_0726
I'm not sure if I'd change the maindeck around too much. It's quite possible that it needs one more land, but it runs many incidental card draw. Another thing could be adding Blood Moons maindeck because they come in after most game 1s. That draws the deck away from the tempo/combo plan though. If there was a tournament soon I'd probably just run the same list or something very close. Good luck!
I started dabbling with this deck on Cockatrice after seeing that 5-0 list. I understand the idea behind making it more of a control deck with a combo finish instead of tempo, but with the current meta I just jammed 3 Blood Moon main. I think I'd rather abuse the greedy decks running amok. Also since you can't combo until turn 5 now you don't have the dilemma of what to cast on turn 3... BM or Mite/Exarch eot? BM on turn 3. Creature in turn 4 with Dispel backup, then hopefully combo on 5 or 6.

Thanks you very much DarkNightCavalier for the Sig.
Thanks you very much DarkNightCavalier for the Sig.

How did you sideboard?
I think you just have to accept uwr is weak to blood moon. No matter how much I tuned my mana base blood moon always got me.
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Polluted Delta
2 Bloodstained Mire
2 Steam Vents
1 Blood Crypt
1 Watery Grave
2 Sulfur Falls
1 Cascade Bluffs
3 Island
1 Mountain
1 Swamp
1 Desolate Lighthouse
Creatures (15)
4 Snapcaster Mage
1 Spellskite
1 Deceiver Exarch
4 Pestermite
2 Vendilion Clique
3 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
2 Dispel
1 Thought Scour
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Spell Snare
4 Remand
1 Terminate
1 Murderous Cut
3 Kolaghan's Command
Sorceries (4)
4 Serum Visions
3 Countersquall
1 Engineered Explosives
2 Anger of the Gods
1 Izzet Staticaster
1 Kolaghan's Command
1 Crypt Incursion
2 Blood Moon
2 Pia and Kiran Nalaar
1 Shriekmaw
1 Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Thanks you very much DarkNightCavalier for the Sig.
I'm not sure why i didnt bring in EE... but i get it now lol
thanks for the reply!
Thanks you very much DarkNightCavalier for the Sig.
I personally would find replacements for anticipate but if they work for you. Keep them.
I am excited to test goblin dark-dwellers just because copying him with kiki seems like insane value. My meta is super grindy and aggro it may be worth trying batterskull.

Thank you for sharing your list! I like a lot about it. You and I must think along the same axis when it comes to UR Kiki (I know that it's been a while since I posted a list, but it would include many of the cards you have there -- even in the same numbers).
Pia n' Kiran is interesting, how was it for you?

any thoughts on the card choices? any changes moving foward? interested to hear some of your thoughts on the deck ive just started playing it and was hoping to take it to the local 1k in a couple days.
@jlm_0726
Good luck!
