I’ve started brewing. Started off Sultai, but have a splash of Red and White. I really like the idea of reducing the opponents life and then finishing them with tokens. Exsanguinate for big life swings seems great with all the mana dorks to help.
Mostly because Jace and Nahiri also win the game but have better utility otherwise. Samut can be a decent budget option to replace Nahiri untill you get her.
I think maybe Oath of Teferi should act as Doubling Season copies 5-8 to increase the consistency of the payoff cards. The worst feeling I've had with Doubling Season is never finding the card and having your planeswalkers stall the game just to tread water.
Hopefully one day wizards will make Deepglow Skate modern legal.
Samut is no good because you need walkers to win you games where you don't go Doubling Season -> Planeswalker (those are the games we already win). I've gone back and forth between a token/diversity of planeswalkers and the combo walkers (Tamiyo/Nahiri/JAoT). I saw Todd Stevens playing with new Jace (infinite 2/2 payoffs) and he felt awful in my opinion.
so now that the PW set has mostly been spoiled... Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God is a copy of any planeswalker in play, making it the most versatile walker ever
it also instantly wins with a Doubling Season too(most of the time)
the problem is the triple black cost... but it could be handled with an Oath,Birds,or Caryatid Kasmina, Enigmatic Mentor does a lot of different things at the same time
most of the other walkers however are designed to be for specific decks, it feels Ignite the Beacon might make it as a one-of for a toolbox build
a lot of the proliferate cards are cool but im not sure what direction that could go in
Evolution Sage fills a hole in the curve and has some synergy with Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and maybe Ajani, Mentor of Heroes. Ultimately, it's probably too vulnerable to removal. Huatli's Raptor is similar, but a single instance of proliferate practically does nothing unless you have several tokens with counters on them.
Oath of Kaya could be interesting as a sideboard option against aggressive decks.
Similarly, Teferi, Time Raveler could be an interesting sideboard tech against control decks. I think this is the only card that could be a solid inclusion in the deck.
Seems awful. You need to have four cards in your graveyard to get two back, and even then you'll get the worst two. Having a Bolas walker in play when casting it is a pipe-dream and is very win-more.
They left out the part where Yawgmoth is resurrected, but has been cleansed as Yawgmoth the Redeemed, and now must awaken Chromium so that Karn can fuse with him and create what can only be known as : the ultimate taco.
There are literally no cards that I'm excited to play in this deck from War of the Spark.
Unfortunately, this was mostly my reaction. There are a few things that are worth trying, but it's pretty disappointing that the planeswalker set has nothing big to offer us.
Nissa, Who Shakes the World: We're playing mostly forests, so her static ability is pretty strong. But if we're at 5 mana, we don't really care about having much more, and her other abilities don't have much synergy with the rest of the deck.
Karn, the Great Creator: Okay, hear me out on this one. Yes, he has almost no interaction with our deck. But, we are playing Stony Silence in the board, so maybe it's worth playing one Karn over one Stony just so we can find him with Oath of Nissa. (That's generally a big downside of the sideboard is that it's all enchantments, which make Oath of Nissa worse.) And then we include one Mycosynth Lattice in the sideboard, so that Karn basically becomes and alternate win condition. Might be too crazy, but I'll probably test it.
Karn's Bastion: Wow, now this is interesting. Unfortunately, it has to contend with Gavony Township, which is really good. It definitely allows you to put additional pressure on your opponent, but if you're sitting around proliferating onto your 3 planeswalkers every turn, you're already winning, whereas Township can actually save your life.
Interplanar Beacon: Maybe worth playing as a 1-of. This card has a pretty small opportunity cost. Yes, it's totally redundant with Oath of Nissa, but it might be a good way to get an advantage against burn.
Mobilized District: Again, has to contend with Gavony Township, and again, it gets better the more you're already winning. Shame it doesn't count legendary enchantments...
Planewide Celebration: 7 mana is probably too much, but proliferating 4 times all but guarantees an ultimate. And Doubling Season gives you 8 Citizens. This actually might be the most interesting card from the set.
Maybe there's a black version of this deck that runs Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God and Oath of Liliana and/or Oath of Kaya and The Elderspell. Can this deck support all 5 colors if we move it in a different direction? Can it support 4 colors with black being a main color if we take it in a totally new direction?
I wonder if it is a good idea to run 4x Blast Zone in the SB as an Engineered Explosives alternative which is easier to find thanks to Oath of Nissa being able to dig for it.
The deck is rather soft to fast aggro and running traditional sweepers (Pyroclasm/Anger/Wrath) kills the ramp creatures so this might help a bit.

Those cards + doubling season it is almost unfeasible in 5c control
I prefer 4 colours
what do you think of Deliver Unto Evil ?
Gideon Blackblade could be interesting in a more aggressive token-based build, but is probably awful if your opponent is playing aggro.
Ignite the Beacon is probably just worse than Deploy the Gatewatch, which is already a meme-tier card.

Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God is completely uncastable without Oath of Nissa.

Teferi, Time Raveler is a great addition to fight control decks that could previously just counter everything.
Much better than stuff like: Vexing Shusher, Grand Abolisher/Dosan the Falling Leaf (or Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir).
