I'm not a fan of a transformational sideboard because you are not going any way to search for madcap but anyways test it and le us know.
In the mainboard I like the list but have the feeling that you need something more althought I'm not able to tell you what, it seems that something is missing. I write later if find it.
What do you think?? Have you any advice about building the sideboard? Any suggestion over the main?
Lot of thanks
The madness deck of old was a tempo deck that used card draw and discard as an advantage. In the old deck the three mechanics that were used were madness, threshold, flashback. Fast forward to the age of modern, madness is back. Since two of those mechanics are available in modern we can make an attempt at madness once again. Jund(RGB), Golgari(GB), and Rakdos(RB) are the available color options for madness in this format.
Of all the discard outlets there are only a few that are playable, if paying mana to cost to discard, then that's being added on to the cost of madness which slows the tempo of our deck down. Tapping to activate is in the same boat it takes 2 turns to discard.
The other option for a discard outlet is Oona's Prowler however i think it is a bit fragile. Same could be said about the dragoon as well, it's slightly better with flying
Golgari(GB) has the least support in the format with the lack of flashback in green. However, it does have two of the best discard outlets in it that being Noose Constrictor and a gold option in Lotleth Troll. Since green lacked options i went with Rakdos to start.
Now i am not a 100% on the youths and the wurm and Traitor's. The value of the youths is not as great as the game moves into the mid-game with it being a 4/3 haste, conversely the wurm makes for a better mid-game option being a 4/4 with trample. The 4 toughness places it outside of bolt range. But the youths are a turn faster.
With Traitor's Clutch, seems it would do well in a Golgari shell as Noose Constrictor is the best target for it. There is quite a bit more that could be said about this version there are some so-so slot choices but it think its quite solid for a start
EDIT: Finished the league 5-0!!! This deck rocks, I can't believe it's only like 100 tix! I had so many broken starts, including a legit turn 3 kill (see pic below).
Congrats on your result. I am perhaps the biggest Burning Inquiry fan out there, so I took the deck for a spin in the friendly leagues, getting a 2-3. Ouch! I'll still keep trying it out; there are a few tricky decisions to make along the way.
For sure, I took my lumps in the practice room before getting that 5-0. This deck can be tricky, certainly harder than it looks on paper. It's wildly inconsistent too, but I'm still pleased overall. Since my 5-0 debut, I've had one 2-3, one 4-1, and the rest are 3-2's. I mean, I basically going infinite at this point, so I'll take that for such a budget deck. There are still mostly tiered decks in the Friendly League, so it's exciting to see this one doing so well. It doesn't seem so "friendly" when it's doing its thing, however
Yeah everyone keeps talking about that bug, but no one has calculated the likelihood of faithless looting into madness card and hollow one without street wraith or open red mana to cast temper. It’s low. It affects very few games. I have played three leagues without it coming up.
I'm actually trying to remake one I saw a few years back. It was REALLY sick and I saw it go 9-0 at a GP here in Pittsburgh. Sadly the guy forgot Damnation and lost first round in top 8. I haven't updated this ina while, but this MAY be something you like.
This deck is ridiculously powerful for the price, no doubt. I just bought a second Blackcleave Cliffs, and it was up like 2 Tix from last week, so maybe people are catching on. The game plan is pretty straight forward; I'd say "race" is accurate, with this us starting out at a mega sprint! I try to stick to that game plan after sideboarding too, keeping my "answers" to a minimum. We basically look to be the aggressor in almost every match up, at least that's my experience.
As far as your card suggestions, they're interesting but they are all pretty expensive. This deck is really tight on mana, so I'd look for more 1 drops to fill those flex spots. I like Call to the Netherworld and Fiery Temper a lot, but I do side them out often, so I guess it's worth looking at other options.
@sim101 I wouldn't really want to play this deck in a lengthy, high stakes tournament, just because it is kind of inconsistent (and very "all in"). It's good enough to spike shorter tournaments though, so if that tourney isn't too terribly long, then go for it! It is a tricky deck with lots of interesting lines, so definitely practice first.
I don't think that DS is better than Lightning Bolt in this deck, you do need some way to remove blockers and finish games after your board gets wiped.
There is isn't enough support for it anyway with just SW.
I took it through 4 friendly modern leagues so far and went 3-2, 3-2, 3-2, 4-1. Made a lot of mistakes thought so results could be better. After I hit 5-0, I'm going to move on to competitive.
Deck feels good, maybe a bit inconsistent, thought it can suprisingly go for a longer game. It puts A LOT of preassure on the opponent in most games.
When it comes to sideboarding, switching very little feels natural, since our main plan is our only plan of attack. I am trying not to sideboard out any madness cards. Usually siding out bolts and reunion, not sure if it's correct though.
Congrats on the solid results. I've now had three 2-3's, a whole slew of 3-2's, two 4-1's, and of course, the one 5-0 :D. I don't feel real inclined about entering the Competitive League, but that's just because I am going infinite in Friendly at the moment. The big thing for me is to pay as little as possible to do this. I don't think I could go infinite in Competitive for many reasons, including that they pay no Play Points for 2-3. Out of those three 2-3's I had, I still got one-and-a-half free entries! This deck has shown success in the Competitive League though. As I mentioned before, I found out about this deck while browsing MTGTop8. It's been putting up results both online and in real life.
Speaking of MTGTop8, there is a new list up there. I like that it runs 4x Blackcleave Cliffs. I think I am going to go up to at least 3 myself, and cut a Blood Crypt. I have been losing a lot of games from damaging myself so much. I like my 8 fetches since they help with Gurmag Angler. No one else runs 8 though, so maybe I'm just wrong
Here is that most recent list from MTGTop8 (you've probably already seen it):
Definitely don't like the 4x Cathartic Reunion, and I'm not sure about the 4x Anger of the Gods either (Bloodghast ). I like do the 4 Thoughtseize though. I think I am going to go up to 4 myself; I just bring them in so often. FYI, since my original list, I went -2 Rakdos Charm, +2Nihil Spellbomb; other than that, my list is the same. I like the graveyard hate, but I may try something more like this list.
I just Thoughtseized my own Fiery Temper to trigger madness and pump my Flameblade Adepts for a win that gave me my third 4-1 with this deck. Makes up for that fifth 2-3 I got last night I'm still getting a steady stream of 3-2's of course, and feel like I'm going infinite /running a bit of a profit etc (up by about 50 tix, I think). This deck basically only loses to itself, but that does happen fairly often, lol. Regardless, it is a ton of fun and I am really loving it. There are so many cool plays (such as the one I described above) that make this one of the most interesting/entertaining decks that I have ever played. Flameblade Adept is just sick, by the way. I just thought I'd mention that since it might not be immediately apparent when looking at him on paper. I had turn two Flamewake Phoenix off him twice in one match earlier, and the fact that he has menace is super relevant. I'd still say Hollow One is the deck's MVP (and apparently its namesake), but Flameblade is a huge roll player.
Why do you guys insist on playing bad cards though? Clutch is certainly not clutch. it has to be discarded to even be playable. Top deck after a wipe it's terrible. If you are debating DS or bolt.... I'd rather see both and lose the jank.
So far it's going pretty well. I also like the fact that it's mono colored.
Maniospas, Traitor's Clutch looks like a card which can make a difference. However, I wonder how often you will be able to madness him. You need at least 3 mana to get this card going (1 mana for a discard spell and 2 for madness). Still, maybe as a 1 or 2 off he could be worth a try.
Go ahead and slide 4 Edge of Autumn into that bad boy. Lightning Axe can go to the sideboard in the current metagame.
Put this list together and had really good results, except against Martyr Proc which was unraceable and an Idylic Tutor deck that got got Phyrexian Unlife+Soleminity lock on me just before their death in 2 games. Def adding Destructive Revelry to the side for more versatile outs and considering adding Skull Crack as well. What are the must have catch all sideboard cards we should be running?
16x lands will lead to the deck losing to itself even more, and this isn't the most consistent deck as it is.
I consider 18x to be the bare minimum you can go down to (especially in a deck without a massive amount of cantrips and cyclers).
12x rummaging spells are enough especially since Looting counts as 2x because of the flashback mode.
If you want to add more I like Macabre Waltz as a 1x-of.
Call to the Netherworld is still showing up in winning lists from time to time, but many people have begun to phase it out. A popular replacement has been simply to add a third Flamewake Phoenix in its place. However, I tried that and found having three birds was a bit clunky. I settled on adding 2 copies of Collective Brutality to the main, removing one copy of Cathartic Reunion and Call to the Netherworld to make room. Cathartic Reunion is kind of a troublesome card anyways, seeing as how you need have two cards to discard to it or it rots in your hand. It still gives me fits from time to time, even with having only two copies now. Anyways, Collective Brutality has been great most of the time, and when it's not, I just side it out. I'd often side out one Cathartic and Call anyways, so this is no different!
Goblin Lore is an option that more and more people are trying out. It's already in use in the Vengevine version of this deck. I like that you don't have to discard up front like you do for Cathartic Reunion. Also,Edge of Autumn was in one of the lists I saw too. That is some super sweet free cycling tech to get Hollow One online faster. Might be worth a shot, although I don't know what I'd cut. Overall, I am happy with my build and this deck in general; I can't see my self wanting to play anything else for the time being - well, except for the MTGO Holiday Cube
Maybe play something like this? Thought process is to pitch Amalgams and company whwnever possible. Then you have this weird team that keeps coming back from the grave while you apply pressure.
Lots of different options to bring back peazy. Play a land it'll come back. Attack with a 4 power guy it'll come back. Sometimes just attacking with anything can being it back.
I'm developing a new RB deck based in madness and our old friend squee and it's being very imppresive in the early testings.
The list I'm currently playing is:
4 lightning Axe
4 Zombie infestation
2 call the bloodline
4 Bloodghast
4 Squee, goblin nabob
2 Big game Hunter
4 simian spirit guide
2 Kolaghan's Command
3 Hazoret the fervent
3 Voldaren pariah
4 Hollow one
4 Blood crypt
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
3 Mountain
3 Swamp
I'm very pleased with it and the new cards hollow one and Hazoret the fervent are great while our old friends are still really good.
I have to test it a bit more but I'm very happy with that list.
The issue I have here is in the sideboard mostlye because I don't know if build a traditional sideboard with cards like:
Or make a transformational sidebobboard including the secondary plan madcap experiment + platinum emperion
What do you think?? Have you any advice about building the sideboard? Any suggestion over the main?
Lot of thanks

I basically copied this from MTGTop8, but I switched out a few cards for budget reasons (Leyline of the Void, Verdant Catacombs, Stomping Ground). I like it! 2 - 0 in Friendly League so far.
EDIT: Finished the league 5-0!!! This deck rocks, I can't believe it's only like 100 tix! I had so many broken starts, including a legit turn 3 kill (see pic below).
It totally pays to peruse MTGTop8. I never would have known about this deck otherwise However, upon further research, I did find this article/video: http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=14264&writer=Corbin Hosler&articledate=11-6-2017. Enjoy!
Build this deck! Best 100 tix you'll ever spend.
What is the game plan of the deck ?
Is it always a race or is there more to the deck and sideboarding with it ?
The creature base seems pretty optimized but some spells I'm unsure about are the: 4x Fiery Temper and the flex slot of
Call to the Netherworld/Night's Whisper.
I wonder if there aren't better options for these 5x slots, maybe Alms of the Vein to gain life (good in racing situations) or more threats like:
Scrapheap Scrounger/Bloodsoaked Champion (Bloodghast 5-8x), Asylum Visitor (has madness and decent power, might even get to draw cards)
or Smuggler's Copter (more looting and evasion).
Other options can be Macabre Waltz or Grim Harvest for some value.
4x Dark Confidant
2x Figure of Destiny
2x Kargan Dragonlord
4x Death's Shadow
Sorceries/Instances
1x Damnation
1x Dreadbore
1x Fatal Push
1x Collective Brutality
2x Kolaghan's Command
2x Anger of the Gods
3x Terminate
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Thoughtseize
4x Inquisition of Kozilek
4x Liliana of the Veil
Lands
1x Arid Mesa
1x Polluted Delta
1x Verdant Catacombs
1x Scalding Tarn
2x Smoldering Marsh
2x Blackcleave Cliffs
3x Mountain
3x Swamp
4x Bloodstained Mire
4x Blood Crypt
1x Shattering Spree
1x Anger of the Gods
1x Dreadbore
1x Damnation
1x Slaughter Games
3x Fatal Push
3x Surgical Extraction
4x Skullcrack

Needs moar Delver.

Bloodrage Brawler and Lightning Axe don't really seem like an improvement over Lightning Bolt and Fiery Temper (or Alms of the Vein) to me.
The creature is pretty slow at 2-mana and easy to remove and the Axe can't go to the face which makes it a SB ard at best imho.
I'd rather add Bloodsoaked Champion/Scrapheap Scrounger as recursive threats or Asylum Visitor as a madness creature than Bloodrage Brawler.
12x rummaging spells are enough especially since Looting counts as 2x because of the flashback mode.
