So you will notice right away that even though I'm playing Gifts Ungiven, Im not playing unburial rites. It may give "free wins" but idk its not my style I love grinding out games and love casting Gifts for value.
Early Game Disruption
2x Raven's Crime - Crime isn't nearly as effective by itself but combined with a land heavy hand, and a Life from the Loam you can strip their hand away pretty quickly. Great vs Control/Combo decks.
2x Collective Brutality - This card is the nuts in this deck, binning a loam/souls, duressing them, kill their creature. Card does it all, also great vs burn which this deck struggles with.
Removal
3x Fatal Push - Kills most stuff in the format pretty easy inclusion.
1x Murderous Cut - We fuel are graveyard a lot, could even see going up to 2x of these bad boys.
1x Darkblast - Great removal for all X/1's and token's also can take care of any pesky X/2's if you do it on your upkeep and dredge it back
1x Maelstrom Pulse - Usually I'll save this for a planeswalker or non-creature based problem.
2x Abrupt Decay - Not as good as it use to be, but still incredibly solid removal
2x Engineered Explosives - With 4 colors this thing can go pretty wide, has a lot of uses verse a variety of decks, also can be looped back with Academy Ruins
The Engine
3x Life from the Loam - You usually want to cast loam around turns 3 or 4 and start ripping through your deck, sometimes you don't dredge right away all depends on the matchup, but Loam has great synergies along with Raven's Crime/Academy Ruins/Ghost Quarter/Tolaria West.
2x Search for Azcanta - People have been trying to find a home for this in modern, it works great here, we fuel our graveyard and allows us to find answers while were dredging with Loam.
3x Gifts Ungiven - My win rate when this resolves is pretty solid, getting loam + academy and bridge/EE or both sword/foundry or just a bunch of a removal spells etc, it always is a sigh of relief to resolve this.
Sideboard
2x Collective Brutality - I side these in against most decks, great vs burn and fast aggro primarily.
1x Damnation - The best sweeper in my colors
1x Flaying Tendrils - A worse damnation but does the job in the right game
2x Thoughtseize - Best discard spell, brought in vs combo/control
2x Ceremonious Rejection - Vs any Tron Variant or Affinity as a catch all
1x Golgari Charm - Good vs cards like RIP/Leyline of the void and tokens etc
2x Surgical Extraction - We run a lot of discard, primarily sided in vs combo
1x Swan Song - We dont care about a 2/2 bird so countering an important spell like scapeshift etc is always solid.
1x Nihil Spellbomb - Gy hate is pretty important in modern, one of the better cards at doing so.
1x Pithing Needle - Brought in vs pesky planeswalkers that I cant pressure right away
1x Batterskull - Most decks side out removal as I play no creatures, so against grindy decks I'll bring in Batterskull as an alt win con.
Overall Matchups
I feel very confident vs decks like Jund, Abzan, Lantern, Affinity, UW Control, Storm(especially post board), Merfolk (hard time dealing with bridge if I can get there), other Control decks in general
I feel Mediocre against, GDS, Elves, Living End, Ponza, E Tron
I feel Un-favored vs Burn, Ad Nauseam, Blood Moon decks (mainboard)
Overall I think this deck has a lot of leg's and obviously could be tuned a bit tighter, if you read all of it thanks! Leave your critiques in the comments :D.
