Commit decent in both of those matchups, but it targets different things than Summary Dismissal does. Against storm we can keep them from having an Electromancer, or flashing back past in flames due to it being a hard counter. It's not perfect, but neither is Summary Dismissal, Grapeshot can be recast, Though Past in flames and Empty is dealt with better by Dismissal. Against Ad Nauseam we can target Phyrexian Unlife,Pentad Prism and even stop the Laboratory Maniac win. All the while being exactly as good as Dismissal in a counter-war.
You also mention they play 1 or 2 copies like they have to get lucky finding them but you only run 1 commit to answer that threat. Whats the logic in the thinking there?

And memory, Control is about 2 for 1-ing or making opponent 2 for 1 in our favor, this is called card advantage. When i am up 3 cards late game I feel like I have stabilized, giving my opponent 7 cards and me 7 cards feels very bad when we run more lands than they usually do, meaning we statistically should have more dead cards in our 7 and put them right back into the game. Not sure what match up I would feel comfortable giving them 7 cards and tossing my 3 card advantage.
First off, you don't cast Memory when you're ahead on cards. You cast it when THEY ARE. You don't cast Balance or Living End when you have more creatures than they have. Even so, there are a lot of situations where spinning the wheel become favorable to continuing with the same cards. That said, commit is fine alone. That it also comes with an option to cast a highly costed variant of legacy banned effects (Wheel of Fortune) without investing in a card is not a negative.
Control isn't necessarily about 2 for 1-ing though. Our deck usually isn't. We draw cards and use counterspells to go 1 for 1 until we can resolve a big spell that's hard to deal with. If we resolve that big spell we have a good chance of winning the game even if they are up on cards. I've won a large number of games off of casting Memory and finding enough mana to either cast an Ugin, a Platinum Angel or the Wurmcoil that kept me alive for that one turn i needed to set up protection or a slaver lock.

You are correct on many points but for me Commit is just Unsubstantiate 2.0
It's nice that it offers flexibility to deal with spells and permanents but the powerlevel isn't high enough to make me want to play it over Remand/Repeal/Rift/Condescend etc. Commit for me is just 1 mana too expensive to be playable on its own. This could've been rectified by having a decent aftermath, I think Memory could've been an instant that returns 2 cards from your GY to hand for maybe 3UU and then I would want to play the card mainboard. Right now Memory is too expensive at sorc speed and the effect is too risky... Gearhulk does not save Memory.

First impressions on Supreme will, I'm really liking it, played a few matches whith it and it performed great.
How many copies are you playing and what did you cut for it? Which mode do you find yourself using more often? I find myself thinking of this as a way to dig for a Tron land 1st and a counter 2nd, but not sure that is the right mode of thinking.
I tried Wayfarer's Bauble. It just didn't seem that great. Getting to 4 mana on T3 was never an auto-win and not really impressive. I could see slanting the deck that way with 4 TKS + 2 Gifts or something but then it would make sense to run 4 Bauble and begin morphing into more of a U/(w)/G? Prime Time deck.
I think I am going to try Supreme will.. it seems like remand is the card on the chopping block. Digging 4 deep is a big deal and the extra mana over mana leak is relvent but often you can't even win the counter fights due to blue limits anyway. I'll see if there is another cut I can make (second solemn perhaps) but I don't want too much counters. Perhaps - remand - solemn.
The complete lock out that spell burst causes is hell for my opponent I can't bring myself to cut it. I have just had so many good experiences with the card.
We didn't have many at modern night yesterday with release tonight, I easily cut through the field of Black midrange and Blue control easy match ups. My only issue was getting caught by crumble to dust without my GQ or a counter up. Amuseingly I had spreading seas help me out a lot with my all colourless land hands.
I am still looking for good options for Deaths shadow match up though, using up so much sideboard space for the leyline ergh (sure it's also good against burn and storm not worth it for GBx), Then having to mull for it ergh I seems real terrible. Atm I just keep any hand with lands and assume they are going to tear it apart. Tormod's crypt and ratchet bomb is my current plan feels inadiquite
Hmm so we moved away from Thought-Knot Seer because people are ready for large creatures and playing thing bigger than 4/4s but I am starting to think it is quite good against Death's shadow where you can strip thier protection from thier hand. Could we main some thought-knots and sideboard some reality smashers to supprise Death's shadow. It is really stubbon denial that is the troublesome card perhaps we have to use more creatures to fight it.
Condesend is also a turn 2 counter (for 2 drops), still perhaps it is my tutors I should look to cut due to the other mode of the card. Hmm will need testing.
TKS is horrible against Shadow decks. Solemn is great against Shadow decks. TKS is bad when your opponent can easily kill it (Terminate, Fatal Push, ...) and has bigger creatures (Shadow, Tasigur, Angler). TKS is good when your opponent cannot kill it (only Path or Bolt) and has mostly 2 and 3 power creatures. If you want to beat Shadow just play WCE, Solemn, Chalice, Gearhulk, Repeal, Spell Burst
Platinium angel has saved me so many times. I Jester's capped Eggs removed his Eldarzi he cast the Ulamog from his hand I tutored and played Angel and he could not win. It is also great at buying time against decks low in removal. Elves, Merfolk, Affinity costs Burn two spells. It is better game one before they get the artifact destruction. Always the first cut to sideboard though.
okay sure, thought Knot isn't great against removal but we don't have many way to attack the enemies hand to strip those Stubbon denial that is hampering us. I did a search for cards we can cast to attack the hand: Distended mindbender, thought prison, muse vessel

I would take out Spell burst and the 2 tks from sideboard and add 3 Surgical extraction,
This cards is so under rated, if you know the right cards to hit and counter then you can use surgical to disassemble their entire deck, it absolutely destroys dredge, and it destroys red green tron if you fetch for ghost quarter hit a tron land and then rip away their chances of ever having tron, they wont cast a threat till turn six when they hard cast a wurmcoil which we can easily counter
plus it lets you see their hand and go through their deck as well, all for 2 life its fire
I would also just straight up run 4 remand it is much better then mana leak. it can even just straight up win you the game against things like living end.

Once you cast Memory you either win the next turn, or have reset the game to a situation where both players have similar amounts of resources in hand.
