I think it's too early to say anything, but I'm excited waiting to see it playing on our deck in the near future, let's wait for the tests
could def see planar bridge as a one of in place of 1 mindslaver. my only issue is that it cost 14 to play and activate, whereas slaver is just 10. if the bridge sticks around though it is game over pretty quickly. hard to say. i agree just need to test it and see how it works. btw it seems like big artfacts might be a thing in this set, so perhaps this isn't end of possible additions to the deck.
Admittedly I took a break from the deck for a while, but did we ever play gearhulk? It hits thirst and remand and I guess cyclonic rift? Doesn't do anything with x spells.
Heya guys I´m back after a break for couple of months. Wondering why Torrential Gearhulk is fallen out of favor again?
Any ideas?
I like the Gearhulk a lot for our deck. I think it just being a huge flash creature is enough. It's also great with dismember, and spatial contortion. It does lose a bit of value with X spells, but they aren't completely dead. Condescend with x=2 let's you scry 2, and repeal on 0 let's you bounce tokens(voice of resurgence and lingering souls come to mind) and our own Chalice of the Void in fringe cases.

i could def see gearhulk in the deck, but what would you cut?
Against grixis control, is it correct to leave in chalices? They have a fair amount of one-drops, but also k-mands. I guess it does force them to have the command though.
i actually have decided to drop chalice in favor of anticipate. i'm just not that impressed by it. if we had some way to cheat it out early like sun and moon does then maybe, but most of the time we're playing it on turn 2 just to stop their one drops, while cutting off our own e. maps. not to mention the card is trash on the draw. also after watching a fair amount of pierkador's videos i decided to go down to 23 lands. he got mana screwed a fair amount of times, and i have also noticed an excess land draw problem. new list is in my signature.

I have testet and feel the direct opposite.
With 23 i have more often to mulligan, i play 25 to assure every land drop.
And with Chalice you have to know your enemy, to cut of path or stabilise against burn /infect/Zoo its a must have.
Maybe its how you play the deck, it has to fit your needs or what your meta needs.
i've just noticed that late game chalice is almost a dead draw late and early it doesn't always ensure victory. i would rather have a card like anticipate that increases the consistency of the deck. also with more card draw means you can keep hands that might have three or 2 lands and still feel safe about drawing into lands. i feel like most of the things that chalice is used for can be overcome by our late game plans. against burn i try to focus on their creature's with cards like spatial contortion, repeal, and engineered explosives. spell pierce is also a good sb card against them. also i run a singleton filigree familiar in the sb.
I cut snapcaster mage for gearhulk. I just thought when you cast snapcaster for any value you are already paying double blue + two or three generic mana. And snapcaster is so slow for us that I never found it to be an efficient attacker. Everything I've cast gearhulk it has been very good for me.
tested a little and went back to chalices. played in a 4 man tourney and won. beat bushwacker zoo and coco company. game 2 against bushwacker i landed a turn 0 gemstone into a turn one chalice. so much for not cheating it out lol
so what is the strategy against ad nauseam? chalice on 1 is sub par. chalice on 0 tends to be pretty valuable. i found room for 2 spellskites in my board. it is a pretty nifty lock piece against them and it is good in other match ups.

what are the thoughts on spellskite?
Ad Nauseam is my go-to deck which I play in tournaments competitively for more than a year and a half, Tron being new to me in tournaments.Spellskite is pretty useless with Laboratory Maniac and Conflagrate is laughing at it. Even with Lightning Storm holding priority, Spellskite is not enough sometimes. Slaugther Pact mainboard deals with it easily too.
So best bet is to hold up a buch of counterspell. Chalice on 0 is great against Lotus Bloom, on 1 that's good for countering cantrips and Angel's Grace. Stick to that plan. Also, tutoring for Tec Edge or Ghost Quarter when Boseiju, Who Shelters All comes in during game 2 is good because it's a free way to victory with that land into play!

wow i was under the impression chalice would not stop split second...after looking at the ruling it makes sense now. def could have won that match then. i had multiple chalice in both g2 and 3
ok so i played ad nauseam again in another mini. won game 1 with chalice on zero and 1, game 2 he beat me to death with dromoka, g3 i landed chalice on 1 and 2. i had already surgically extracted his phyrexian unlifes, so the only way for him to win was with lab maniac, since his only way to bounce both chalices was hurkyl's recall. i landed a platinum angel, which he lightning stormed and i recurred it with ruins. he tried to go for lab man then realized with platinum angel it wouldn't work, so he conceded. round 2 i beat grixis delver. chalice was big in that match up as well.
really feel like i'm starting to get the hang of the deck. i'm playing it on magic-league, which is actually very competitive. the first few tourneys i ran it felt like the deck was way out matched. now that i have a few games under my belt, i'm starting to feel much more confident about it. people get really salty losing to this deck. which is good cuz that's sort of the theme of my other 2 decks
Chalice has always been spectacular for me, even late game against some decks. On a separate note, Filigree Familiar or Bottle Gnomes in side? They basically fill the same role but I'm not sure which is better.
Definitely! I agree everyone should just play a 75 that fits their style.
I don't have too much trouble dealing with early creatures because I play 4 Spatial Contortion main, and one dismember. So even when I did play snappy I don't think I ever ambush vipered him.
My meta has a lot of infect, affinity, burn, and company so that's why I play a lot of early removal.
Padeem seems sweet as a budget "alternative" to chalice. I kind of want to try a build with 4x talisman, 2x Padeem, and 2x Solemn simulacrum for fun. I'm not sure if it could be as competative though. I really wish the guy wasn't legendary
So I was able to test this mainboard at my LGS two nights ago. Quite liking it, but I made a lot of mistakes since it's a different version from what I'm used to. The synergy is truly incredible, as any combination of Chalice, Padeem, and Angel means somewhat of a lock, all 3 is a pretty hard lock. I'm going to cut 1 PON for a third Talisman as I didn't see as many Talismans as I would like and had too many dead PON. Aggro matchup is improved I feel, and while normally plat angel wouldn't be the plan against slower decks it just ends up happening now with 3 of them. I usually find every game that goes decently long ending with a plat angel and sometimes a lock. There are a lot of stalemates, but we are good at those, especially if your drawing 2 per turn off Padeem.
P.S. Love spellburst. I haven't seen it in any lists for a long time but with an angel out and tron assembled, it's hilarious. Had a lantern player scoop upon seeing me buy back a counterspell with angel out.

Bottle gnomes give me the option of gaining life whenever I want. Always found the gnomes more superior, and has saved me a couple of times against burn match ups.
