Is it better than squelch? I think it depends if you are playing squelch as LD or if you are really using it to hit non-land activated abilties. I'd be open to useing it. But it is one of those cards you look at and think.. this is good.. but you can't be sure what to do with it. I haven't tried it but I only just picked them up perhaps I'll try it. It seems really good against GR tron though.
I run tormod's crpyt over relic still you can't ruins relic for reuse and you have to exile your own grave. If it is useless later it becomes thrist fodder.
Game 1 I draw a hand full of counters and so stop her doing anything scary. After countering the third Primeval she concedes to a Sundering Titan blowing up two lands.
In - Spreading Seas x2, Summary Dismissal x2, Negate, Spellskite. Out - Spatial Contortion x2, Solemn Simulacrum, Platinum Angel, Repeal x2.
Game 2 I have counters again and Spellskite defends against her side play of beating with Courser of Kruphix. Summary Dismissal does great work against a single PrimeTime once I ran out of counters but the follow up Breach-Emrakul won her the game.
Game 3 I have a fast Tron start into Turn 4 Kozilek and she cant play any more of her ramp spells after that. Stuck on four lands, Kozilek finishes off the game.
Match 2 - Abzan Delirium/Value (2-0)
Game 1 I play Map, he plays Thoughtseize and takes my Spatial. I play Chalice on 1 and he plays a Goyf then a Liliana. I fight through with Repeals but it's looking grim until I draw Solemn and Wurmcoil after each other and hit land drops to victory.
In - Dismember x2, Pithing Needle. Out - Chalice of the Void, Spatial Contortion, Remand.
Game 2 I get to play Needle naming Liliana which it turned out he had two of in his hand. Two Goyfs and a Grim Flayer eventually make it through the counterspells but by this time Ugin had come down and saved the day.
Match 3 - GB Tron (2-1)
Game 1 I lose to faster Tron things. We both end up with a Wurmcoil Engine but by this point I'd expended my counters and World Breaker lives up to its name.
In - Spreading Seas x2, Summary Dismissal x2, Pithing Needle. Out - Spatial Contortion x2, Solemn Simulacrum, Sundering Titan, Repeal.
Game 2 I open with Tower, Map. He opens with Ghost Quarter and Surgical on the Tower. However he then misses a couple of land drops which allows me to get ahead on Condescend mana and Spreading Seas cantrips to shut him off Tron as long as I could. He lands an Oblivion Stone and a Wurmcoil without Tron, but the Wurm eats a Repeal and the Ostone trigger gets eaten by a sweet Summary Dismissal, saving my Ugin. Eventually I chip away at his life total enough to win.
Game 3 starts identically, with my Power Plant this time being Extracted. This time he has enough lands to continue playing and lands a Karn to exile an Island. I respond with a Pithing Needle to stop Karn and he plays a Wurmcoil. I take some beats for a turn or two before managing to rift the Wurmcoil, Map up a Tec Edge and play a Chalice on 1 all in the same turn. This buys enough time for me to hardcast my own Wurmcoil which eats a spicy Naturalize to split into the Tokens. The tokens beat for a while and I draw a Summary Dismissal to stop his last Sylvan Scrying. He plays a Walking Ballista on 1 for his last card and goes to five after it blocks a token. I draw my eighth land and play Ugin to bolt, attack and win.
Match 4 - Infect (2-1)
I knew this guy previously to frequently play Ad Nauseum, so on the play I took a gamble and dropped Chalice on 0. After T1 Pendlehaven Glistener Elf I assumed I was dead. Turn 2 confirmed my theory.
In - Spatial Contortion, Spellskite, Dismember x2, Negate, Pithing Needle. Out - Remand x3, Sundering Titan, Wurmcoil Engine, Anticipate.
Game 2 I drop Chalice on 1 against the Elf. Chalice just wins enough for me to find Platinum Angel and beat.
Game 3 I kept a risky hand with 2 tronlands, Map, Spatial and amazing blue spells but no Island yet. Spatialled his Blighted Agent then cracked my map for Oboro and managed to use Repeals to keep him at bay. He drops an Inkmoth with me on 6 Infect but I find my last Tronland and tap out for Kozilek. Kozilek counters all his spells and 12 regular damage a turn beats 1 Infect a turn.
Hi I just wanted to share my latest build which performed very good, I really dont post much in here... but I have always loved Shooktroopa style with 2 Solemns and 2 talisman, the rest is quite usual.
I started to test the approach when I saw the ideaof River of tears as the best land producing other color which also fits in BTron.
before the 3 EE main were 2Solemn and 1 taisman the 25th and was the 2nd talisman.
Then I started with 2 Reivers and saw they were good and up to 4 in order to make EE a better card
Noticed that i needed more often than not other sweeper and then went up to +4th repeal which is good vs Stony and DeathShadow.
EDIT: Squelch will become Obstruionist soon, has anyone tested it?
In deed I just dont know why i didnt play EE before... I alays played 3 in side maynly for burn, but now that i can cast them for 2 counters - I feel like it is a must in base.
well if any interested to test the list, this is just a conclusion of list which I recently came up with and i believe it is great.
The only slots in side that im not conviced much are Arbiter which before was filigree and otherinstead of repeal, but as said I found repeal a lot of valuable...
I like your SB except its a little weird that 4 contortions and 3 dismembers are all on the SB. I play 4 and 2 myself, but I have 2 Contortions and 1 Dismember main. I would suggest putting some of these in the main deck to free up your sideboard a little and give you some outs game 1 in the matchups where you really need them.
Thoughts on running a Reality Shift in the SB to deal with the big bads that we don't want to return to a hand? Cards like Ulamog. Giving them the manifested card isn't great, but at least it brings the creature down into Spatial range.
I've added 1 to the MB and 1 to the SB to test. Every time it has been in my hand it has been useful. I ended up cutting 1 Remand in the MB. I had really like Squelch but it was too often sitting there waiting to be used IF the stars lined up. The 3/1 flyer at least provides a blocker that often trades if I need to buy time and they aren't working to kill my lands.
