I feel you on the Deflecting Palm. That card used to give me the heebie jeebies.
I played at a 31 person FNM for 5 rounds.
Round 1 vs. Abzan Midrange. A match against the player who used to be our best Modern player, playing BGx variants. Well, the past few times I've seen him play, he's been on some sort of UW Flash type deck. My hand has Bogle, Dryad Arbor and Horizon Canopy and spells. But he is on Midrange and does a combo of Liliana of the Veil and Slaughter Pact on turn 3 and I lose my board. I find no creatures and lose to a Bob, although it had him at 3 life when he revealed 2 land in a row. In game 2, I mull a triple Leyline of Sanctity hand, Dryad Arbor, and spells into turn 0 Leyline of Sanctity and Horizon Canopy. I never draw another land and he has the right combination of Goyf and Abrupt Decays to punish my 1 land hand. After I lost on turn 9-10, I had 4 land in the next 5 draws. I died with just that Horizon Canopy and Leyline in play. 0-2.
Round 2 vs. Jund. This round is different. He misses a 3rd land drop for Liliana, which my hand was vulnerable to. I draw a fetch to possibly get Dryad Arbor. He had a 1 turn window and missed it and I smash. In the next game, he taps for Tarmogoyf on turn 2. I fetch to Dryad Arbor, put Spider Umbra and Ethereal Armor. It gets bigger from there and it gets there. If he had Abrupt Decay, he could have gotten the Umbra because he had Damnation. 2-0.
Round 3 vs. Abzan Company. In game 1, I get a solid Bogle going, but at 2 life, he casts Kitchen Finks to be at 4 now, shocks a Green source, and now has enough to Chord for the last missing piece, Viscera Seer. In the next game, my had is somewhat slow, but alas, he draws a bunch of lands. The last game is similar, but a Daybreak Coronet gets my kill a bit quicker. 2-1.
Round 4 vs. Mono Blue Delver. In the first game, he just has Delver and it can't race my big Bogle, although he told me that he can Disrupting Shoal a Bogle. In the next game, I completely punt it after Delver reveals Redirect. I try to Dismember his Delver so I won't get Auras put on Delver, but he Redirects it to my Bogle, since I control the spell. Just a big ole brain fart. I try to Dismember again and he does Disrupting Shoal/Hibernation and his Delver smacks me a few times while I have a hand of 2 Ethereal Armor and 2 Rancor when I lose. In the last game, he was too greedy, Commandeering a Rancor to his Delver. I Path to Exile it; he Remands with his last card. But I have my turn 3 land drop and fetch and Path to Exile it again and he has nothing but a Hibernation later for my Rancored Bogle. I rebuild and smash again, as only a Vendilion Clique of relevance is drawn. 2-1.
Round 5 vs. Dredge. In the first game, I am on the play and that's basically game since I race him with a large Bogle, but no lifelink. In the next game, he mulls to 5. I get turn 2 Rest in Peace, but he has Abrupt Decay next turn. I am barely racing him again like game 1, but this time, I draw Daybreak Coronet and that's match a couple of turns later. He did Gnaw to the Bone and flashback, but I'm swinging for 8 per turn. 2-0.
I finish 5th at 4-1. It's a start, considering I've had a lot of X-2s lately.

I played in a 24 person GPT today. 5 rounds of Swiss.
Round 1 vs. Mono White Humans. There wasn't much to see here. I was on the play and ran him over with an early big Bogle that got much larger than his creatures. In the next game, we were at a Standstill because my large Bogle couldn't attack through a potentially Indestructible Kytheon (3 mana to do so). But I was at 88 life when he said, "I am getting bored of this game." This statement exemplifies Modern. 2-0.
Round 2 vs. Double Moon Walkers. Awesome deck, but I had too many quick, super strong hands and he was flooded a bit in game 1 and had 2 Doubling Season in game 2, but couldn't find a Planeswalker in time. Awesome, awesome deck! I think I found my new deck! My friend got Blood Mooned out on turn 2 twice by this guy in round 1, so I knew what he was on. 2-0.
Round 3 vs. Affinity. He gets some dudes out after he mulls to 5 and I mull to 6, but I have Daybreak Coronet and Spider Umbra for my Dryad Arbor and the rest is easy. In the next game, I have a strong hand, but 1 land. On turn 2, I draw Dryad Arbor, so I can't cast Stony Silence yet. He gets a Steel Overseer activation, but Stony Silence on turn 3 turns off his other Overseer and I slowly build my creature up until it's game. He made 2 misplays in this one. The first was Galvanic Blast on my 5/5 Dryad Arbor in game 1 after I blocked a 1/3 Ornithopter. He didn't realize the First Strike meant there was no damage on my 5/5. He also attacked into Spider Umbra before realizing. 2-0.
Round 4 vs. Grixis Control. We ID, 0-0-3 even though this is an easy matchup.
Round 5 vs. Jeskai Control. Another easy matchup. ID, 0-0-3 and into the top 8 at 3-0-2.
Top 8 vs. Titan Shift. In the first game, my Bogle gets big enough with lifegain to make his Prime Time too late and irrelevant. In the next game, I get an early Bogle into Spider Umbra into Unflinching Courage, but I fail to draw another Aura. Oh yeah, I did double Leyline of Sanctity on turn 0. He came back with double Prime Time when at 7-29 life totals after doing a Nature's Claim on my Courage. I draw a single Spider Umbra and lose. In the final game, I kept on Leyline, lands, Kor Spiritdancer, and Bogle. I go for Kor Spiritdancer and Hyena Umbra on turn 3. He gets large enough to get lethal after he picks up an Unflinching Courage. He was nearly killable for 12 damage from Valakut triggers, but at worst, I'd lose an Umbra and hopefully draw another Aura the following turn. 2-1.
Top 4. We SPLIT prizes to go home early. Me and my friend that I came with and loaned Titan Shift to both scooped so the Grixis Control and Double Moon Walkers players could play for Byes for GP Dallas. I wiiiiish I could go.

I always enjoy reading your Bogles tourney reports and analysis; I'm curious if you ever tried Open the Armory and your thoughts/experience with it? You might've mentioned it once everybody else was experimenting with it, but I don't recall. My list is pretty identical to yours save for x2 OtA and 3 Leyline rather than 4 (+1 Path in SB).

I honestly haven't tried Open the Armory. It seems slow to me, even if the choice can be very important. In this meta that is super fast right now, I don't usually feel like I have time to use it. I could be wrong though, as I haven't tested it. I have now tested Gryff's Boon over a 2nd Dryad Arbor and it's just been okay. Nothing all too impressive.
Path to Exile may be better over one of the Dismembers. They essentially do similar things. Part of the reason that I wanted to try Dismember was to be able to use it with just a Forest or Dryad Arbor up; or even through Blood Moon. Haven't been able to do any of this yet, as I haven't been playing this deck much.

im so happy someone else is running griffs boon I run it as a three of main board and it works wonders for me , especially against affinity when they have so many signal pests and vault skirges and ornithopters having a second way to get flying/reach with gryffs boon in addition to spider umbra is amazing

A 3 of Gryff's Boon is far too much, imo. It's not that great of a card, especially since ithe ONLY gives you +1/0 and Flying.
You have the Spider Umbra and Spirit Mantle to get past creatures already and flying shouldn't be that much of an issue, if you have a proper good hand and you're explosive enough.
I even dropped my 1 of Gryff's Boon and switched it for MB Gaddock Teeg.

I may consider playing more if Affinity was more common where I play. I haven't seen it much. In fact, Stony Silence was in the SB nearly exclusively for Affinity for the past 2 years, but now it's more for other matchups. I have cut Affinity hate in my SB and now rely on knowing the matchup and playing well to win (the few times I play against it nowadays).

yeah it defenitley depends in the meta where you are I have more affinity and abzan combo/midrange I usually have at least two affinity decks at each modern event so I was running stony silences mainboard for a while which was fun but dromokas commanda is mor versatile

I find Gryff's boon to be a tricky one... When you have a small bogle it is not necessarily the most impactful however it does enable early swings if the opponent has no fliers. It also seems like one of the best cards for Kor Spiritdancer. I will say it is likely more powerful in an open the armory build - I have won a few games on 3 mana where I OTA, apply gryff's boon and win. The key thing here is that none of the other evasion enchantments in the deck cost 1 mana so Gryff's Boon is often one of the best OTA plays if you need to tutor and cast it and win this turn. All that said, against decks like esper tokens and other things with copious flyers that are not infect and affinity, the gryff's boons are among the first cuts when sideboarding. My list currently plays 3 Gryff's Boon but I will probably go to 2 to make room for at least 1 more spirit mantle in my deck as that card seems to be so impactful especially during stalls.
Also, I have been running 2 OTA and it is unclear just how good the card is. It lets you go a bit more tool-boxey which can be important but it does seem a shade slow to me.

I'd agree with you on both cards. I run a single Boon along with 2 OTA and that's a big reason why I continue to run OTA, because it gives you a situational tool box. Cards like Boon and Unflinching Courage aren't things I'd want to run multiples of, but I can justify running singles if I'm playing with OTA. The only instances when it feels like a complete waste of space is when I have two in an opening hand.
Fought off against Naya Burn first round, quite easily actually [especially after SB Leyline of Sanctity].
Second round I faced off against Infect. Barely beating him first game, since him only being short 1 Infect counter. Second game, plowed through his deck, due to a lot of removal in hand.
Game 3 against Slivers. Path to Exile and Daybreak Coronet did some work that round.
Game 4 against Dredge and had a pretty solid matchup and game against. Paths and Rest in Peace are key.
I replied to that article as well. Fuel to the fire!
Well, I got crunched at an IQ today. 15 players for 5 mandatory rounds, cut to top 4.
Round 1 vs. Infect. Tough way to start. Well, he draws somewhat awkwardly and mulls to 6 twice. I end up barely getting there, although I did lose game 2 on turn 3 to Vines kicked and Mutagenic Growth. 2-1.
Round 2 vs. Jund. I keep a loose hand to Jund and can't make up for it. I get him hellbent and I have a lethal Kor Spiritdancer on the field with another Aura in hand while at 2 life. He draws Maelstrom Pulse and kills my Spiritdancer, who coincidentally didn't have an Umbra. He had a lot of outs though, Bolt or 2nd K Command kill me, Terminate does the same thing. I was hoping he'd draw a land or 1st Goyf since my Spiritdancer had Spirit Mantle anyway. In the next game, I mulligan twice, keeping Leyline and nothing else. I don't draw out of it. Four fetches in the yard and 4 more lands in play. 0-2.
Round 3 vs. Mono Black Rack. Before he shuffled, his deck was upside down for a split second and I saw Dakmor Salvage. Good, Dredge. I probably beat Dredge. Nope, he makes me discard everything and uses Liliana of the Veil and Smallpox to get me low on life. Then he drops the Rack and Shrieking Affliction. But I get there at 1 life for lethal. In the next game, I have triple Leyline of Sanctity. I put 2 into play, which was a misplay. I only needed 1 obviously and could use the extra card in hand. It gets down to the end after Smallpox] saves him. That card's hard to beat! Even without the misplay, I die on the following turn with nothing in play anyway. In the final game, I crack a fetch for Dryad Arbor to try to race his double Mutavault (after turn 0 Leyline of Sanctity) with Arbor and a Spider Umbra'd Bogle. But he has Funeral Charm into Smallpox to get my large Bogle. It turns out that on his turn 3, he could have done it anyway even if I left the fetch uncracked for Arbor. Then he gets a Flying Tendrils for my follow up Bogle with Rancor. Then he kills my Kor Spiritdancer with Rancor with Smallpox. He keeps up with gas and Mutavault attacks while I get some late Auras. 1-2.
Round 4 vs. Blue Moon with GDD. In the first game, he does double Anger of the Gods on consecutive turns into Spell Snare a Kor Spiritdancer into Roast/SCM + Roast and triple Goblin Dark-Dweller. It's too much for a really solid hand that I had. In the next game, I go Bogle into Ethereal Armor into Ethereal Armor and Daybreak Coronet. He scoops. In the final game, I just wear out his resources. He had a Blood Moon out with lands while I was looking for creatures. He killed the few that I got, but I suited up a large Bogle and went to town soon afterward. 2-1.
Round 5 vs. Living End. I probably have a 10% chance to win this. Even if I do get Rest in Peace, he will most likely have Beast Within for it immediately. I win my first die roll of the day, so now my chances are 20% and not 10%. I get a Bogle, but he does turn 3 Violent Outburst. Why do they always have that one? It would seem they run 7 Violent Outburst and 1 Demonic Dread. I was ready to rebuild with Kor Spiritdancer and Spider Umbra, but he has turn 4 Evoke Shriekmaw into exile SSG to Beast Within the Spiritdancer. I scoop immediately. In the next game, he does turn 2 Anger of the Gods off SSG. My Bogle with Rancor and Ethereal Armor is now gone. I rebuild, but he as Violent Outburst shortly after again. 1-2.

Fair criticisms, but advocating players to stop playing it altogether is a bit rash, especially considering the rate at which WoTC has been pumping out new sets. If Aether Revolt (or literally any other future modern-legal set) introduces an all-star aura then it could theoretically catapult the deck to tier 1 or broken; every new set is an opportunity to improve the deck and it's more or less just a matter of time.

Prior to seeing your post, I was actually reading through the comments in the link and thought to myself, "Hmm, sounds like that foodchain guy from MTGS". Made my day haha.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I always enjoy reading your Bogles tourney reports and analysis; I'm curious if you ever tried Open the Armory and your thoughts/experience with it?

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)A 3 of Gryff's Boon is far too much, imo.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I find Gryff's boon to be a tricky one...

Here's my list ..
Counts : 60 main / 15 sideboard
Creatures:13
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Gladecover Scout
4 Slippery Bogle
1 Gaddock Teeg
3 Kor Spiritdancer
Spells:28
4 Ethereal Armor
1 Gryff's Boon
3 Hyena Umbra
4 Path to Exile
4 Rancor
4 Spider Umbra
4 Daybreak Coronet
2 Spirit Mantle
2 Unflinching Courage
Lands:19
1 Forest
3 Horizon Canopy
1 Plains
4 Razorverge Thicket
4 Temple Garden
3 Windswept Heath
3 Wooded Foothills
Sideboard:15
1 Gaddock Teeg
2 Natural State
3 Rest in Peace
1 Seal of Primordium
2 Stony Silence
2 Dismember
4 Leyline of Sanctity
Thinking about taking out the 1 of Gaddock Teeg in the MB, as my meta doesn't really call for it. I always seem to side him out after first round.

I got crunched. I ended up 2-3. Itfeelsbad.jpg.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Fair criticisms, but advocating players to stop playing it altogether is a bit rash, especially considering the rate at which WoTC has been pumping out new sets.
