Surely it's okay to discus how our lists would look if BBE were to be unbanned after rivals of Ixalan?
The biggest problem in our deck is the problem Naya Lightsaber had. Dorks. Hitting a dork or sprawl would feel bad. Can we not play those cards? I think the answer is no. BBE is't right for our build of LD.
wait are you saying you'd get hands with a blood moon, mana dork, but no second land?
i goldfished about 7 games on mtgtappedout with a 20 land base and the deck doesn't seem bad; less mana flood issues. on the flip side i had a couple games where i missed the 3rd land drop (with dork in play) and couldnt get huntmaster or chandra down on time, but instead just played a second stone rain or whatever. i'll probably stay on 21 lands but may also experiment with boarding out a land while on the draw. this strategy has worked well for me with affinity (in certain matchups).

The discussion of bans/unbans is restricted to the State of Modern thread. It is specifically stated in the subforum rules. Please keep all BBE in an speculation there.

It's not okay to discuss whether or not BBE is going to be unbanned, but it's entirely on topic to discuss using it in Ponza. Whether or not it's unbanned isn't entireley relevant as the discussion can inspire people to try new ideas. 4 mana Cascade in Ponza definitely has some implications and it's not out of line to recognize that. If you feel posts are off topic just report them.
I could see the deck running a couple bloodbraid.
Anyway, how do we board against control? Off the top of my head I was thinking something like -3 bonfire -2 beast within -2 birds // +3 relic + 2 baloth + 1 thrun + 1 dismember. Assuming one ran a sideboard/mainboard with those things.

I'm well aware of the sub-forum rules. I had no intentions of discussing the ban-list in general; that's why I explicitly singled out BBE, because regardless of its legality, it's a card that could dramatically impact our niche in the current meta, either negatively or positively, and I thought it was something worth considering due to the fact that WotC is on record saying we could see an un-ban in February. I don't know about you, but if BBE does indeed become Modern legal again then I'd like to be ready for it and have a game-plan well in advance, so we can adapt quickly. I didn't think this sort of discussion would be problematic based on my interpretation of the particular sub-forum rule quoted below.
Only discuss bans in the "State of Modern" thread
Users may not post with the primary purpose of discussing, debating, or speculating about the banlist or unbanning/banning cards outside of the Official "State of Modern" thread, which can be found stickied in Modern general. Follow all thread rules when posting there.
Users who post about these topics outside of the thread will be warned/infracted accordingly.
Users may mention bans outside of the banlist thread if the primary purpose is not to discuss, debate, or speculate on the banlist or the banning/unbanning of cards. The primary purpose of the reference must be related to the thread in which the user is posting. For example, saying "Card X is probably getting banned on Monday. Should we swap Card A for Card B in our sideboard?" is okay in a deck thread. Responding to that with "Card X is definitely not getting banned on Monday; it will be Card Y" is a violation of this rule.

Okay, dis a tricky question. The way I personally sideboard is bringing in cards I think are good. Then cutting cards in order of what I think are worst in the match up. I know it sounds heaps obvious but the 2 important things in play here ae that I'm focusung on whats comming in, rather than whats getting cut, and that I don't swap out average cards for other average cards.
Anyway, against deaths shadow I like Chameleon colossus, relics, groffdongers codge. Cards I dislike are Bonfire, Chandra and stnerain. So I cut them in that order. If I suspect young pdiddy I bring in anger, and MAYBE keep some bonefire.
Against U/W I like Thrun, Relics, Codge and sometimes, just sometimes anger (if you suspect pdiddy in a jeskai variant or if they play geist)
I dislike Bonefire in non pyro geist builds, Baloth, Chameleon colossus and inferno titan isn't great here. Stonerains are good because they rely heavily on man lands and beast within is great because it deals with Dsphere, search for Azacantanazaza, Walkers and 4/4 flying vigilance mofos.
As far as I have seen, there is nothing that indicates whatsoever that BBE is up for a possible unban in February. Speculating that a card may be unbanned in 3 months is riding the rails of what the subforum rules outline. The specific example references an imminent, likely ban or unban, not complete speculation 3 months from when it may or may not occur. It totally derails the thread from talk of the deck in the current meta to talking about a hypothetical meta 3 months from now.
How about we agree that this is the perfect place to talk about the card in Ponza... in early February once we are close to a ban list update?
Just um, buy a cheap playset of bloodbraid elf and sit on it in the event of an unban.
Okay so beast within and birds of paradise can stay in against u/w control. I figured bonfire can't hit collanade anyways so it comes out first. Against grixis shadow I was taking out stone rains and beast withins. I found this matchup to be pretty bad.
On second though I was thinking of bumping up inferno titan back up to 4 with all the collected company/aether vial nonsense going around lately. Decks that swarm the board and start swinging early are a problem for this deck; I think bonfires and inferno titans help stop this.
What do we value thragtusk in this meta? I think I'm gonna trim him down to 1. Seems good against burn but thats about it. Stormbreath on the other hand clocks quicker against big mana decks and storm. I like that thragtusk can stop a gurmag angler/tasigur but every time I've played him he gets bolt-snap-bolted which is probably just bad luck but oh well. Either way, Stormbreath just flies over that nonsense and hopefully their life total is really low already where we can just trade blows and win.

Since nobody is arguing if it's going to be unbanned or not and thus not breaking any rules, how about we keep discussing the affect of a card in our deck? Again, if you have a problem with it feel free to report posts instead of mini-modding.

I don't think cutting Thrag down to 1 is a bad idea; my list eventually went down to 1 copy MB, then it was relegated to the side, and then I cut it out altogether and have been running Finks in the SB and x2 Chameleon Colossus split b/w main and side. If Anglers/Tasigur are a big concern, I'd definitely suggest giving CC a shot, assuming you already have not done so.
i think I'll put chameleon colossus in the side. was never a huge fan of mainboarding stuff like thrun, chameleon, scavenging ooze ect. but that's just me.
what do we take out against collected company combo decks? the ones that make infinite mana or life or whatever? i was thinking -4 blood moon and bring in something like +2 anger +1 dismember +1 cage. or maybe stone rain should come out. i was thinking moon comes out first because of the mana dorks

I bring in spot removal, sweepers, Relics and groffdongers codge if they play abzan combo. I take out Baloth, Pia and Kiran, Moons, maybe something else like 2 dorks if I need too.
I guess I could still bring in the relics. Relic has lost some of its value in this matchup recently with all the decks new additions but it should still shut off parts of the deck like the infinite life gain. I could maybe take out my singleton thragtusk but i'm always cautious of removing too many of our "finishers" so i'll probably pull the moons out first.
I think i'll tailor the sideboard to beat the top 6 or 7 decks and kinda-ish ignore the rest. I plan on using the deck in one or two larger tournaments, somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 people (iconic masters tournament stuff). usually deeper sideboards is the way to go in larger tournaments but i really dont want to lose to stuff like affinity, storm, burn ect. plus we're already looking pretty good against valakut/tron stuff.
one more thing, is trinisphere good against grixis shadow? or do they slip around it with delve stuff, k-command, ect?
It's good. They can only cast delve cards and K command at the usual rate. Literally everything else goes from 1 or 2 to 3 mana. And making them slam t3 k command if they even have it in hand is a big tempo swing as well.
