Ranger is consistently amazing for me... I find it really hard to go back to Ajani. Just won me a game against Zur i would have lost badly otherwise(although ajani to lock down zur would make it go longer) and once you bait all the counters out hes amazing against UWR.
Basically I am turned on by this card.. never thought I would be that 'value' guy. But here I am. I really need to try figure of destiny(saw play in the legacy version) and Mikaeus(soso good with lingering souls).
A couple more obervations. Liliana of the Veil has been one of my weaker cards. Some matchups it is invaluable sure, but overall I feel i board it out the most(maybe I am wrong there?).
Lingering Souls is fine as a 4 of? Considering trying just 3. Drawing two with a land light hand is pretty bad, but you always want at least 1 in creature matchups, and a second is usually fine.
I really just need to work on the sideboard tweaking. What decks do you bring rule of law in against? One of the cards I haven't tried.
I still like Liliana.
As for Lingering, I run it as a 3 of.
I don't like rule of law, it seems to be only good against combo decks and maybe some control decks.

Rule of Law is great against Living End, Storm, Goryo's Reanimator. Liliana is the best planeswalker of Modern, it can sometimes control the game by herself. Lingering Souls has great synergy with the deck's own Liliana and it's pretty good against jund and affinity. Lingering is freaking awesome.

I've just discovered this deck in my attempt to find a modern deck that I enjoy playing, and it's been a blast. I haven't gone to any tournaments yet but I'd just like to share some thoughts.
A lot of people seem to be taking a very midrange direction with this deck, and I wanted a bit more control. My first change was getting rid of Grim Lavamancer. Every time I played him, I felt like I was playing a worse Deathrite Shaman. I replaced him with Damnations, feeling that I needed a sweeper to take care of some decks that played a large amount of bodies, but not enough for Rakdos Charm to just one shot them.
I quickly removed the swords and placed in Hero of Bladehold (saw other people were using her here), who instantly became one of the best cards, next to Helix. While she lacks protection, she can end the game whenever she sticks.
I've noticed that the hardest matchup I've faced so far is anything with Sphinx's Revelation. Any suggestions to combat this?

Game 1: Took a mull to 6, which was still mediocre. I had no idea what deck he was playing. I was confused with his T2 Ash Zealot, and thought it was some RDW. I was soon wrong when he played Lootings dumping the Demigods. He managed to get a T6 Demigod, swinging for lethal.
In: 3 Rakdos Charm, 3 Bonfire of the Damned
Out: 2 Thoughtseize, 2 Inquisition of Kozelik, 2 Liliana of the Veil
Game 2: Again, anther mull (no lands) to 6, with ok cards. Again I couldn't stop his T5 Demi god hitting me in the face.
0-1
Round 2: Living End.
Game 1: Thankfully, I started with a good hand, and kept some pressure on. I decide to play a T4 Hero of Bladehold forcing him to cascade and he does. He gets back some guys and starts pounding my face. I then start to stall with Elspeth tokens and Souls. I then play Sculler taking his other cascade spell, then play and equip war and peace on it, he attacks into my guy and I clear the field with burn and swing away for lethal.
In: 3 Mirran Crusader, 3 Rakdos Charm
Out: 2 Liliana of the Veil, 3 Lingering Souls, 1 Baneslayer Angel
Game 2: He took a 1 lander, and I had an aggressive start.
1-1
Round 3: RG Tron
Take note, I did not think anyone would play tron here, so I actually took out my Sowing Salts from SD. So I was scared.
Game 1: He got a T3-4 tron and I couldn't keep up.
Game 2: Was close, I took a good hand this time and manage to keep his coils at bay with Paths, and stalled his tron with Tect. Edge and GQ. Afterwards, I got him to 3 before he got tron active again followed by many MANY karns and clasms and board wipes. I top decked souls forcing him to wipe, then crusaders forcing him to use karn's -3 to take care of my threats, then I managed to Hide//Seek casting Seek on him taking his Emrakul gaining 15 life. When I didn't top deck threats he destroyed my red sources so he wouldn't die to burn but thankfully I managed to get a arid mesa for another red source and managed to top deck a Smash to Smithereens for the win.
We then agreed by end of turn 6 of turns, whoever had the lowest life total/more board presence would win.
Game 3: I mulled to a decent 4 LOL? While he mulled to a awkward 5. Turn 1 DRS then T2 Bob, got me there for he scooped.
2-1, getting a pack.
Overall, this deck OK. I may need a 24th land. I may also take out DRS or Lavamancers for something more aggro-y. I don't know what yet. Maybe Goblin Guide?

Also, I'ma have to find room for a 4th Path to Exile in the MB.
As well as room for B-skull in sideboard.
I don't really like batterskull. It's very expensive, and I can't think of decks I would side it in against over Mirran Crusader. Definitely fit a fourth path though, card is very good.
I've been playing lots of Cockatrice recently, haven't had any matches that have made me rethink any part of my current list. What does everyone think our hardest matchup is? I haven't been having too much difficulty outside of RG Tron pre-sideboard.

Yea tron sucks, since even though i bring in like 8 cards against them a nut draw still kills me. I think twin may be the worst overall, I don't have that much hate against them, just the instant kill combo and remand on lingering souls and such is so brutal tempo-wise.
I think tron is favored by a bit, but stony silence t2 is basically game over most of the time, and Hide/Seek in insane against tron. (if you don't run this card you should, very strong on MTGO since it instant beats Ad Nauseum as well usually, and is good vs bogles)

I haven't had too many problems with Fish so far. I mulligan hands until I have plenty of bolts and paths, I think you just have to play a much more controlling game. Getting Bob is usually pivotal in those games too. It's close, but not terrible.
I've faced bogles once, and it seems to just lose to liliana or hand hate. The mainboard damnations also help a ton. The only sideboard I have for them is Mirran Crusader, which works very well until they get a rancor.

Land hate? Why does Bogles lose to land hate? By time they get one to 2 lands, they've already have a hexproof dude swinging for 5 damage with trample and nonsense.
