It's on par with Outpost Siege, with Moons I think the flipside will be rarely relevant as the cannons will be late-game material. Besides, it's very hard to flip if you're on the Ensnaring plan.
Outpost Siege isn't played, so why is this any different? Chandra is still miles better for the flexibility and finishing potential.
I now have the strong urge to build the slowest, grindiest version of Skred possible with the win con being to Shrine of Burning Rage someone for 20.
Looking over the Ixalan spoilers, there isn't much else for us in this set. I guess the hasty trampling 5/5 is funny if you detest that lizards have wings. Maybe with the next set we can build Pirate Skred!

Had a fun experience at FNM the other day. Crowd has been bigger lately because of the Fatal Push promo and we're seeing a mix of people coming in, including the hyper-competitive types from another shop that I don't usually play at.
The guy is on BG Rock and already I can tell he's the type of player I hate because when I cut his deck, he takes mine and shuffles it for like 30 seconds. It's an FNM bro.
Game 1 he's on the play and plays a Verdant Catacombs, passes. I play a Snow-Covered Mountain. End of turn, he foolishly fetches an Overgrown Tomb and mash shuffles 10+ times after doing so. Turn 3 I drop a Blood Moon on him, no response. I ride a turn 4 Koth to victory.
He comments, "Fun and interactive Magic..." while admitting he should have grabbed a basic.
Next game is even funnier to me. He actually fetches for basic Forest and Swamp this time, and has a Bob on the field by the time I drop a Blood Moon. You can see he's irked, but on his first Bob trigger after the Blood Moon, he finds a Maelstrom Pulse and has the mana to cast it. I figure he would want to actually play a game of Magic this time, but he decides not to play it. Next turn I Molten Rain his Swamp and lock him out of the game again and ride a Stormbreath to victory.
He goes on a small rant about how Blood Moon is his most hated card in Magic and how all the other "unfun" cards at least end the game quickly. I'm biting my tongue trying not to laugh, and all I could say after is "You had a Maelstrom Pulse."
I probably could have said more, but the salt was palpable. This was clearly the type of guy who felt he should have won because he had 4x Goyf and 4x Lily in his deck, and taking the win from him with a deck that costs less than those cards alone was so satisfying. Really refreshed my love for the deck even though I've been on it for over a year.
This sounds exactly like the Rock opponent I played against a few weeks back. Assuming you're in the US, what state are you in? Maybe we're secretly locals and never knew it lol. Truthfully, the salt is always worth it, and there is nothing more fun than smashing face with a Koth while the opponent can't do anything.

Hah, unfortunately not a local. I'm fighting the good fight from up north in Canada. I'll make the trip down to NY-ish states from time to time, though.
Congrats Yorck! Would be interested in a report or even just your list.
Just played the Skred mirror. It seems to be in the Merfolk caliber of bonkers mirrors. Game 1 I stuck a Koth and rode to victory. Game 2 my opponent slamed Dragon's Claw on turn 2 and he went to town. After a massive grind and slogging through 3 walkers and a second Claw with a Batterskull that couldn't stay equipped for more than a turn, I managed to stick the clutch sideboard card -- Ensnaring Bridge. I sat on my Koth emblem and domed him for 7 and 8 for a few turns, turning his 37 life points to nothing.
I also wanted to bring up the rules change concerning Blood Moon. Now, the lands coming into play are Mountains before hitting the battlefield. This means a few things:
A) Shock lands now enter untapped under a Moon. Not a huge deal, but it could be relevant in GBx matchups.
B) Temples (such as Temple of Enlightenment) also enter untapped, and no longer get a scry trigger.
C) As far as I know, all other "comes into play tapped" lands come in untapped when Blood Moon is in play. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
D) You can't name a creature type with Cavern of Souls.
E) For those of us who found that Blood Mooning people in one format wasn't enough, Dark Depths now enters with 0 counters thanks to Moon, but thankfully won't make a 20/20.
B) Temples (such as Temple of Enlightenment) also enter untapped, and no longer get a scry trigger.
C) As far as I know, all other "comes into play tapped" lands come in untapped when Blood Moon is in play. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm pretty sure that the Scry Temples entered tapped and didn't scry under the old rule. I think the only relevant change was "As ~ enters the battlefield..." will no longer apply under a Blood Moon.
You are correct in the come into play tapped lands will now come into play untapped (unless at some future time they make a basic land type that enters tapped).
I played a whole bunch of matches today, and had some really good results. I still won about 80% of my matches, which were about 1/3 decks with some form of Death's Shadow and/or Tarmogoyf, 1/6 blue-control/combo, 1/6 other tiered stuff, and 1/3 random things. I still lost to some occasional nonsense like the Phyrexian Unlife + Solemnity combo, and once or twice to luck, but it felt really good overall. Favorite moment: Temur Ascendancy pressing me hard, I drop to one life; EoT bolt them; attack with Reckoner, cast Blasphemous Act.
I moved away from Anger of the Gods, finding that most of my opponents were either too big for it (Tarmogoyf, Eldrazi) or would be killed just as dead by a well-timed Volcanic Fallout (Goblins, Elves). They are in range of Act, but that feels like a less solid MD play. MD Relics still did a lot of work, and I did get an opportunity to make Stormbreath monstrous a bunch of times. The Berserker came out of the SB and did some serious work in a bunch of games. I also played Molten Rain, but am convinced the Instant speed of Boil would have been better in a lot of cases, which is why I made the switch.
Regardless, the deck is still a bunch of fun to play, and it seems opponents still don't know how to handle it (though the few who are familiar recognize it immediately, and complement the choice).
Seems like a lot of people are moving back to Boros Reckoner. Maybe I'll get back on that train. I've yet to Skred haduken someone, so at least I can do that again.

I have not seen the Update on gatherer for Blood moon, but it is listed for Magus of the moon. Could be due to something with layers, why the enchantment is different then a creature for applying the effect??
WHOOPS... Just went an looked again and there is an update but its post dated as 9/29/2017
Seems like a lot of people are moving back to Boros Reckoner. Maybe I'll get back on that train. I've yet to Skred haduken someone, so at least I can do that again.
It's a lot of fun. Fatal Push can be annoying, but it also saturates targets versus PnKN, and generally makes for a very rough time when their plan is to attack with Death's Shadow, Tarmogoyf, Confidant, or Snapcaster.
So when cavern of souls enters under a blood moon it loses its ability to name a creature correct?
Yep!
Other notes:
1. 4 Blood Moons has drawn me unnecessary multiples more than once (in one game, I got all 4), but it just crushes so many decks outright. I could see myself going to 3, but that's as far as I'd go.
2. Scrying Sheets seem increasingly irrelevant. I'm debating dropping them and adding one SC Mountain and one more threat. Mana Flood is an issue they don't quite solve, I've occasionally not gotten to drop Reckoner on turn 3 because of them, and they eventually turn into Mountains anyway.
3. That said, Snow is relevant, because Guardian-Saheeli is the new Splinter Twin combo, and both Bolt and a 4+ Skred are VERY strong against that. So is PnKN, and especially Volcanic Fallout, which is one more reason for the switch.
Yes please! I'm advocatin for that for years
I never understood how can people play Sheets with Reckoner/Blood Moon/Koth - it's a tripple non-bo! And even then, they are slow and they miss almost 1/3 of the time...
If you want to play Skred, ok, that's respectable choice of playstyle. But Sheets are IMHO flat bad.
Ever played vs. Blue Moon or something similar? When both players side out the moons and you celebrate a grindfest?
Or when you're playing the control-role, dropping EoT Skreds n Bolts, Scrying Sheets helps you not flooding that much.
(Remember, we are not playing Fetches, Serum Visions, Ponder, etc)
Saying Scrying Sheets is bad is like saying Cryptic Command is bad 'cause its 2late vs Burn...
If youre up Skred vs Skred, I bet the Deck with Scrying Sheets wins 80% of the matches

"From my rotting body,

I'm in the "Scrying Sheets are good" camp. What Skred Red really lacks that other control decks have plenty of is card-draw. Sure they only draw you lands, and sure Chandra, Torch of Defiance draws cards(I personally don't have any as I am waiting for her price to drop...I checked this weekend and she's up to $37 ), but we also don't run fetches to thin our deck. Just the fact that I can use Scrying Sheets to get lands out of the way to make room for more gas is good enough in my book.
Side note: When I say "card-draw" I mean "card-advantage," I don't really count Relic and Mind Stone since they just cycle.
Another underrated benefit of scrying sheets is it can be a wincon against aggro decks. Against stuff like CoCo and affinity i'm usually siding out my top end for some cheaper interaction. Sheets makes it a lot easier to come out ahead after making lots of 1-for-1 trades.
I have a lot of control in my meta and was wondering if Guttural Response would be a good SB card for this?
There's not many reasons to play it over Ricochet Trap (you can answer counterspells by redirecting them to the ricochet trap itself). Personally I dislike playing them though. I feel like sideboard cards need to be a blowout when you cast them instead of just being a 1-for-1 trade. You can also deal with control decks by adding more action spells that they need to counter. I add molten rains and rabblemasters post board. Modern decks don't run that many counterspells so if you can just jam threats turn after turn something will usually get through.
Relic + Eternal Scourge is another strong play against control if you're not running the already.
Glorybringer is one I was looking at. Using it as a 3rd or 4th Stormbreath Dragon isn't bad. Ultimately, I value protection from white and the Monstrous ability more than the capacity to remove a creature which I could usually remove another way, but in low-White metas I could go the other way.
Outpost Siege isn't played, so why is this any different? Chandra is still miles better for the flexibility and finishing potential.
