So having completed the main deck this week I took it to 2-1 finish at FMN. Lots still to learn, sideboard to finish and a punt or two but so much fun at my first modern FMN with titanshift. My only loss was to Infect where I was just too slow. Any ideas on how to fix this in future?
Back when I was playing Titanshift in an Infect meta I found Sudden Shock useful. But yeah, not a good matchup because they usually goldfish faster than you. Remember to kill them endstep to prevent blowouts. That's why split second from Sudden Shock is so good.

You pretty much can't win against infect, which is why this deck rose to tier 1 once infect mostly died.
I agree completely. Even 4 Sudden Shock was not enough, although I did win half of the games that I got a Chalice of the Void on 1. Probably was around 15/85 in their favor.

Against infect we used sudden shock and chalice of the void.
Sure the MU wasn't easy but we definitly had some answers.
Btw. since U/W was mentioned - what are any possible hatecards against them?
Gaea's revenge seems week against blessed alliance and supreme verdict.
Thrun, the Last Troll wrecks them. They never have blessed alliance post board so they have 0 answers to it. I play the Jund version and keep in Fatal Push for their colonnades so even animate and block doesn't work. But even outside of Jund you can still regenerate.
I was wondering what we had to do against Gifts Storm? I got wrecked by it tonight when he turn 3 killed me in both games. Is this just a bad matchup? I have Relics already.

In my experience, Titanshift's worst matchups are specifically decks that combo off quicker than we do. Storm is one of the worst, but Infect was also a bit of an issue back in the day.
Chalice of the Void can help, but I'm not sure if we can ever make the matchup particularly good.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
Gifts storm is rough. Chalice isn't enough because all of their really important stuff is at 2 and dropping chalice on 2 on your third turn is only good enough on the play.
I try to use my removal very aggressively on their dorks. They can't really go off before us without getting incredibly lucky in their draws if they don't have a cost reducer. Relics like you mentioned are good. Honestly, the deck is just hard for us to beat because we are soft to them Remanding our threat then winning while we are tapped out.
I won a 50 person pptq running this yesterday. It was my first time playing in quite some time, so my list was pretty untuned but I wanted to try some things out. I played 2 Coursers (which I sided out a lot - they weren't good), a Chanda ToD, 6 removal (2 bolt, 2 anger, 2 roast), no pacts, 2 omens, and 4 hour of promise.
SB:
1 Wurmcoil Engine
3 Obstinate Baloth
2 Dismember
1 Ancient Grudge
1 Natural State
2 Nature's Claim
1 Krosan Grip
2 Chalice of the Void
1 Crumble to Dust
1 Relic of Progenitus
There were a lot of cards from my list that weren't optimal. I'm in professional school and haven't played Modern for a long while. I realized that morning that I misplaced a foothills, apparently, and would swap another fetch out for the final copy. I wasn't crazy about coursers or angers main, and would consider swapping those 4 out for 1 omen, 1-2 roast, 1-2 bolt. I had too many enchantment/artifact removal spells in the sb and would put the angers there in the place of 2. I'd cut the crumble unless I expected the mirror, as I realized I didn't need or want it against Tron.
I played against 3 varieties of GW creature combos, 3 Eldrazi Tron, 1 Merfolk, and 1 UW spirits. There was a fair amount of death's shadow in attendance, including some of the better players, but it surprisingly wasn't abundant in the top tables. T8 consisted of me, 2 Eldrazi tron (semi and final opponents), UW spirits, GW counter combo (quarters opponent), burn, BW tokens, and what I think was Esper Death's Shadow.
With the mom and pop lists running around, has Huntmaster ever been a consideration? Or is the extra body plus reach more important? I'm just wondering because life gain plus being a pact target seems relevant to me.
Honestly, I've never considered huntmaster of the fells but that doesn't mean it's bad. I think the issue with it though, is that it rewards a long grindy game. Something that traditional Jund did very well. And we don't really want to get in that situation. We want to be casting a spell every turn. There are matchups that get grindy and long (read, UW control, traditional Jund and abzan) but there are better cards against them. Thrun, the last troll and chameleon colossus being my favorites. Thrun lives through anything short of Damnation or wrath of God and chameleon colossus lives through any removal the BGx decks will pack while also blocking their Shadows/Tasigurs/Anglers and being unblockable.
I think huntmaster is just too weak to removal and gives too little instant value in the matchups where you would consider it so be worth it.
A 16 person capped PPTQ was won by Titan Shift in my local area of SoCal from what I heard. It looked like Affinity, Eldrazi Tron, and 1 other deck that I'll find out soon was in the top 4.
I was in NorCal visiting family, so I couldn't go.

The issue is that Huntmaster on his own just isn't relevant enough. Obstinate Baloth gives you a bigger body that doesn't die to Bolt and gains you more life immediately while also being a house against discard which makes him better as that stopgap card while you make land drops to hit your haymakers. I would probably run a 4 CMC 2 land ramp spell before Huntmaster.
Speaking of 4 mana 2 land ramp spells, does anyone have experience with hunting wilds? BtL shift used to run it. I think it has potential in a similar way to Hour of promise.

U/W usually sides out their supreme verdicts, leaving just the PoE's in and bring in more counter magic.
