Hey guys. Longtime Twin player turned Storm player turned back to "fair deck with unfair wincon" player. I'm playing the Breach version and I've been torn with the sideboard Madcap Experiment/Platinum Emperion combo because most of my opponents are aware it's coming, so I decided to run 3 Young Pyromancer tonight for our weekly and it over-performed for me. I have a pretty diverse meta at my store so it could've been confirmation bias, but I beat Mill, Infect, Burn, and Affinity. I'll probably keep this configuration for a while but wanted to see if anyone else is trying out the Pyromancers and what their sideboard is looking like. Thanks!

I tried out Pyromancers. They're pretty good. I like them more than the Madcap Package for sure. They don't do much against burn though so I swapped mine for a Spellskite and Entrancing Melody to see if that's better. If your meta is a lot of jund/shadow, Pyro probably over preforms.
22 land build felt pretty great. Went 3-1 losing to Jund, beating Grixis Shadow, Esper Shadow, and Affinity. I think I made a mistake bringing the combo back in for game 3 vs Jund. The game was pretty close but I got low on cards and kept having to loot away combo pieces for interaction and ended up dying slowly. Might be good to run pull from tomorrow? Or just play better lol.
Hey guys, ill be travelling to two GP's this year and I will be posting my results in this thread as I will be playing UR Breach in the main event of GP Portland in December and Modern side events at GP Sacramento. Ive been on the deck since the EFro article and I'm really glad its getting as much attention as it has been. I haven't played UR Breach and had a record worse than 3-1 in over a year and a half. Its beautiful. Ill post my current list below and cards I have left out.
Why 3rd Blood Moon and only 3 Seas? I often wanted Blood Moon early and Seas will come eventually with so much digging in the deck. Maybe i will add a 4th Seas to the maindeck at some point but right now im sticking with 3/3. Logic Knot is overperforming. Its so strong and often just reads "counterspell". Delve away those fetchlands and cantrips, we wont need them later. Grave hate makes this card worse but no one is bringing in grave hate against this deck.
I have 1 Clique in place of Emrakul #4 but I'm not sure how long that'll last. Emrakul is sometimes hard to find fast enough without 4 but Clique is a very strong card that I am hesitant to cut. It offers us a strong turn 3 play or something to bait out interaction in the matchups that matter.
SB plan often is just bringing in some number of Wurmcoil Engines and disruption. We can get super grindy with Search, Keranos, Wurms and counters. Wurmcoil wins me games so often. After game 1 my opponents often side out most removal like Path and Terminate. Wurmcoil just dominates the board and gains us a ton of life. Its also often sided in against Burn on occasion. Opponents dont know to side in artifact or creature removal, seriously, just try him out. Lantern is becoming more popular and so im considering going up to 3 Ancient Grudges or adding in a Shatterstorm. But being able to bin an Emrakul from ur hand to shuffle everything back into your deck is strong. Surigcal is their best card against us so we need some Dispels coming in and a different win con. Keranos is strong in this matchup.
Cards I think need to played more in this strategy its Ceremonious Rejection. E Tron isn't much of an issue locally but it would help a lot and makes Affinity and Lantern better matchups. Not sure what I would cut but probably Search for Azcanta, Keranos or the 3rd Anger of the Gods. If colorless gets more popular we have a strong answer.
Out of curiosity, has anyone considered making a primer for this deck? I think it's about time we have a proper setup. I'd do it myself if I wasn't brand new to the archetype (as in, having played one match last night), so do we have any volunteers?
EDIT: It appears someone may be doing one? I can't find it in my records anywhere. If someone is working on this, let me know! Thanks!
+1 for a real primer. Both Madcap and Breach have done well recently including being the third highest win percentage of archetypes in the pro tour. Deserves a real primer that's not just the old shackles moon title.
I have been playing Blue Moon (Madcap Version ) for some time now and am also very experienced in blue based control decks ( Jeskai, U/W , U/R ). I would love to write the primer for this deck. It is a great deck and deserves a fully updated primer. If needed i would be happy to start working on it. Let me know!
I think the jace question is a bit tough actually. We're not going to outgrind whichever deck is built to run jace, so we need to be able to race that deck or find some other way to beat em unless we wanna just give up that matchup. Maybe peezy or all in on a combo? Combo to just go over jace or peezy to overwhelm them? I think remand + bolt deck is going to be great in this new meta as remand is good against jace and bolt is good against the decks racing jace. I just don't see us then trying to close the game with jace, cause the UWx jace deck is just going to be better than us at that.
Why? Cause I gotta pay rent this month. If I had jace money lying around I'd play this
Creature (10)
4 Snapcaster Mage
3 Young Pyromancer
3 Thing in the Ice
Sorcery (5)
4 Serum Visions
1 Roast
Jace (3)
3 Jace the Mindsculpter
Instant (20)
4 Opt
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Spell Snare
2 Remand
2 Mana Leak
1 Logic Knot
2 Electrolyze
3 Cryptic Command
Land (22)
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
3 Steam Vents
2 Sulfur Falls
5 Island
1 Mountain
3 Field of Ruin
But anyway, my logic for this. I like the breach combo but I feel like this'll be better for the meta. I feel like the best decks moving forward will be the real actual jace decks (uwx control, grixis, etc), aggro decks punishing people for playing too slow, big mana, and fast combo. Especially fast combo as that's always been a problem for control. So for us, I wanna fit into this meta by going under the jace decks with our peezy, using TitI to help us fight aggro, and use counters + peezy to fight these combo decks. We wont be the greatest against the real jace decks but we'll have a gameplan while running a deck to take out the rest of the meta. Roast is in there incase a lot of people are trying out BBE decks, but I could see that being an abrade easily. Also, I tend to like the blood moon plan more than the feild of ruin plan, but if we're running 3 jaces we need to make room for instants and sorceries for peezy, so field over BM. And jace is there because jace (again, 3 is the max while running peezy).
Piloting this for the past 2ish months to 9 FNM's at my LGS. 3-1 four times and 4-0 three times and 3-0-1 twice. Tweaked the list back and forth from izzet charms and electrolyzes in place of spell snares, logic knots, and roast but came to this. This deck is tuned for my store meta that has various control decks, creature decks and only a 1 or 2 burn and affinity decks. I would sub out logic knot and/or roast for electrolyze, izzet charms and/or abrade mainboard if the count of those decks rise. My most difficult match ups are thoughtseize/hard removal decks and humans can be very annoying if they name well with meddling mages or make a creature too big to deal with.
Some card choice reasons;
Wandering Fumerole replaced 1 Desolate Lighthouse and it has won me several games. I kept drawing lighthouse in multiples and fumerole plays nice role in the matchups where lighthouse is good too. Play test it to see if it does the same for you.
Everytime I have resolved a Hazoret the Fervent against any control based deck I win that game if I'm not dead the following turn. Very nice and way better than Keranos, God of Storms IMO.
3 Anger of the Gods sures up all creature matches for me and stops humans from getting out of control too quickly. You can easily run
2 but I need to draw that card against Humans almost always to have a chance unless I Blood Moon them and destroy their Aether Vial with my Abrade.
The 2 Spell Snare have been hit or miss. Great against some decks and literally a blank card against others. I believe this would be the first card I would like to cut to help game 1's against some different decks.
Thanks for reading and any advice or tech is greatly appreciated. Questions about the deck are welcome too
I see a lot of Breach decks on here - but I havent had much luck with them. My list is non-combo, based on the list that achieved 21st at GP Toronto. I've made some changes based on unbanning JTMS.

Blood moon followed by jtms = ggwp? (jk)
edit: now more serious, i think this would be an auto-include in blue moon, the only question would be how many.
