How many Caverns would you guys recommend? I see some lists run 2, some run 3, and others run 4. I suppose the deck is still playable without the Caverns, but would be at a huge disadvantage vs blue?
Blue-based decks aren't really the problem since they would most likely save their counters for Cocos and Chords. Caverns are for Chalice, especially those with SSG. Without Caverns, turn 1 chalice for 1 is backbreaking for us.
Okay,i am looking for feedback on my 75. Hope you guys have some inputs suggestions, comments anything. I just hope to become an even better Elves player. I dont have so much time to travel to GPs as when i didnt have a kid, but i do still play the bigger events near me.
3 Path to exile
1 Shapers´Sanctuary
2 Stony Silence
2 Rest in Peace
1 Lead the stampeed
1 Kataki, war´s Wage
1 Burrenton Forge-tender
2 Reclamation sage
1 Eidelon of Rhetoric
1 Aven mindcensor
There is much Burn and Lantern in my meta. The things i am most in doubt about are the Ooze, Essence warden( those i play because the list lacks life gain and as a bit of extra sideboard space) and Selfless spirit. The split between Raorverge and Canopys i change some times. 9 White sources make Rip and Stony good sideboard cards. I usually like powerfull cards like RIP and stony, the problem is the creature count gets lower and that is allways a considerration.
Hmm, I feel like a single Shaper's Sanctuary isn't enough. It's useful in the early stages of the game so you'd want to draw into it as early as possible. Maybe cut the lead? Or cut the Sanctuary and go with Leads instead.
You are overpreparing vs artifacts.take Affinity for example, you would want 2 Stony, 2 Rec Sage, Paths and Kataki. You never want to sideboard that much. You can cut a Stony since Kataki works just as well and is Chordable. 2 Rec Sage is a bit much for me. If you do this, you get two extra sideboard slots. This can go to Ooze or Finks for your lifegain.
If you still go with Ooze mainboard, one RIP is enough I think. The other slot can go to a big beater like Sigarda or Chameleon Colossus.
You would really want Ezuri vs Mirror Entity. I get that they are essentially the same but the trample does matter a lot when going off.
Lastly, I really don't feel Aven Mindcensor to be good in the match-ups that it's brought in. Maybe I'm not playing it right?

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering how many Canverns should I invest in? I was only planning to get two over time...
I guess that I should list my current deck and see if there other upgrades I should get over Caverns.
Has anybody tried Sigarda, Host of Herons? I'm really interested in including 1 in my sideboard. Seems like a strong card vs BGx decks and ETron and an awesome beater against other go-wide decks. Or is she too slow/too hard to cast?

Your deck is close to mine. Cavern big plus is if you know your going to run across chalice or control. Otherwise you can use Unclaimed Territory with good results also. Since your black splash gilt-leaf palace is really good also. If your not going to face control cavern has the bad side of not giving you any color so can just not use it to keep a easier color base.
Edit
Haven't played my elf deck in a bit. Below is mine. Anyone else using Throne of the god-pharoh. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
I've seen that devoted druid and Vizier of Remedies is being tested a lot. Is that a stronger build than the previous GW or GB?
I'm using throne as a 1 of, it's never been a disappoinment to see. It's not win more if it speeds up a win and doesn't let opponent try to wrath u with 5 life left. Don't let it slow down if it's in ur opening hand, play your elves first. My meta is red happy, so I play both essence warden and potf as 4 of's. Anger is still brutal, but it adds turns to pop off. 1cmc elves are a great abundance to have, I think I have 20 1 drop elves. Helps insure nut hands that have heritage and archdruid do their thing. I also run life Crafters and g wave as opposed to lead/Coco. Similar output, no misses. Any gb elves list should run potf as a 4 of IMO. It does like 8 things for the deck and the biggest one of all is keeping elf counts up by defending against removal.
PS: don't use dwynen's unless your trying to do bramblewood paragon/rishkar. It's the worst possible play to make on turn 2. They'll bolt the dork, they should. Core + draw + anti removal is my flavor of elves. Bramblewood/potf is super funny watching your opponent grimace while deciding if he wants to block a 1/1 visionary
I am building an Elf deck and I am leaning towards the GB build because I do not have Horizon Canopies for the GW version. I just bought a set of Cavern of Souls (first print) and I am waiting for the reprint of Horizon Canopy before I buy them. Are they necessary on the GW build?

Any basic tips you can give in playing GB? TIA!
Canopies help a lot vs flooding. It isn't necessary but it has a lot of value in a deck like ours. You can add forests or Temple Gardens instead.
Some tips:
Don't be greedy when casting Shaman of the Pack. Draining them for 4 is better than holding your shaman and getting your board wiped.
Use Durees/Thoughtseize in your sideboard. Easily the best caed out of GB sideboards.
Use Elvish Visionary. It's really good even if some hate on it. It replaces itself and one of the rare good topdecks of the deck.
Remember that you can stack your) Shaman triggers. While the trigger is on the stack, hold priority and cast Chord or Coco to get another Shaman. This way, both triggers "see" both Shamans.

I understand what you mean by this, but just want to clarify that you cast your Shaman and with the drain trigger on the stack you'll cast Chord of Calling to fetch another Shaman or collected company in hopes to hit one since we don't have a way to cast Shaman at instant speed. . This will increase the damage by one over having them come in to play one at a time.
Has anyone plaued against the new deck floating around? The one that has Vengevine and Hollow One and wants to have creatures for free? I don't know what the deck is called. The guy that consistently tops an LGS near just calls it "Free Dudes".

I have not but this is the one your talking about I think. It looks fun. It don't have Vengevine, but this is the one I see winning stuff
Went 3-3 in the last pptq I played in (almost identical list), lost both of my win and ins due to elementary errors (somehow forgot to untap a devoted druid to block against burn). I feel like I understand the ins and outs of my deck pretty well at this point, but I'm always looking for new angles and ideas so I can perform my very best. Thanks!
