I had started out with the rather typical Mono-White build and had moved to White / Blue after Hour of Devastation was released.
Perhaps it was just getting use to the new (W/U)build but it had not played as smooth (speed being the main concern) as I had thought it would.
I am now back to Mono-White - but - with one modification with the addition of Aetherstorm Roc.
Again, perhaps just luck, but this worked VERY well for me, growing at a steady rate with a hard +1/+1 counter being added to the Roc, while tapping down a troublesome blocker an opponent may have.
There were no issues at all generating Energy, which I had thought may be a problem at first.
How many people are closing out games with Westvale? I feel like I never need to use it when play testing.
I close A LOT of games out with Ormendahl, but only in certain MU's, so zombies, mono red, and other low to the ground aggro strategies. These games usually come down to races, and if I'm on the draw or never get a monument down, I'm usually loosing the race, and Ormendahl completely flips the game around, and odds are the opponent has no answer to deal with it. double grasp can deal with it, so can a Dark Salvation with 7 zombies in play, but the fact is he's a 1-2 turn clock that puts you out of lethal range, so unless the opponent has the answer in their hands, you're going to win.
The other time I'll go for the Westvale flip is if the game gets real grindy, and I can just sac 5 free warrior tokens, at which point I'm down no cards for him. Against any deck that has disallow, or even the potential for stifle bird in the board, I usually won't risk it.
Also, just curious what kind of MU's people are bringing Angel of Sanctions in for? Reason I ask is because if I bring in the angel, I really want to be SB'ing out all of my Dusk // Dawn, as the 2 do not play that well together. I'm thinking Fairgrounds Warden might just be better.
I think Fairgrounds Warden is okay in some matchups where removal isn't as much of an issue, but given how much Abrade is running around right now I think the Angel is the right choice. It's tough enough to survive the Abrade and can be embalmed, making it so they have to kill it twice.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Post-board? Cataclysmic Gearhulk is a maindeck card in Gift Reanimator, you're just lucky it didn't show game 1. Your best angle is probably Cast Out or something to prevent the gearhulk effect, the Gate effect, etc. Eerie Interlude could finally find a use. Aven Mindcensor, Stasis Snare could be useful complements to let you hold up the mana usefully. Also, Ormendahl is a great trump to Gearhulk.
Crook of Condemnation seems to be a real important SB card, as the Prized Amalgam and Haunted Dead variants are still running around, along with the new gifts re-animator. Possibly Scavenger Grounds in the SB as well, as an extra land for game 2 is always nice if that MU is going to get grindy.
Hmmm, Aven Mindcensor is an interesting choice, I assume you would want try and use it to stop the Gate to the Afterlife trigger that tutors up Gifts.
If you want to go that route, I'd just have Nimble Obstructionist in the SB, which would have a lot of different uses, including stopping Ormendahl in the mirror, stopping the Gate to Afterlife trigger, stopping all the Gearhulks ETB triggers.... the list goes on, its a versatile card.
The deck is extremely out of favor right now because consensus is it's just bad against Ramunap Red. A ton of aggression plus Abrade makes spending turn 3 on Monument them a very bad plan. Dusk also doesn't do that much. Yet the scheme has a lot of resilience, and perhaps pairing the Monument/Bishop plan with a lifegain plan could give longevity.
Imagine running most of Sacred Cat, Glory-Bound Initiate, Lone Rider, Anointer Priest, Sunscourge Champion, Gisela, and Crested Sunmare, and how well that might trouble an aggro deck.
But somewhere the deck needs room for its old tools because you can't be great against everything. The traditional build was pretty good against BG and zombies.

He finished 1st after 5 rounds and so he won the turn. I had good hand. But lost on turn 4-5. It's just too tough. Before 2nd game I sided in all my heal creatures and spells, Stasis Snare and Fumigate and sided out 3 Dusk//Dawns, 2 Hanweir Captains, 1 Selfless Spirit, 3 Spell Quellers and 1 Bishop. I won because on turns 3-4 he missed his land drops. 3rd game: I kept hand with Port Town, Westvale Abbey, Blessed Alliance, Anointer Priest, Thraben Inspector and 2 Stasis Snares. Then I drew another Alliance, 2 Islands and Stasis Snare. He was very aggressive and killed me on turn 5-6 after casting Hazoret... I had no chances.
I think some cards in Ramunap Red should be banned. Deck is unrealistically powerful.

Still Amazingly powerful deck, has the same feeling Mono-Blue Devotion gave me in theros standard. I Highly recommend the deck going forward Stupidly powerful and a blast to play.
It felt like the deck almost couldn't lose to your average aggro or midrange deck. Ended games against Temur and Zombies with life well over 30. Only had trouble against the over-the-top game plans of Gift decks and Approach, but even there it had powerful game and could weather almost anything. (Except an early Approach, because no counterspells.)
By having a hybrid gameplan (Stockpile//Anointed Procession//Anointer Priest and Monument//Bishop//Ormendahl), it can't be hated out, and you can pretty much count on something fun coming together.

Spell Queller was the reason for going UW, and that's gone, and Westvale Abbey was the payoff that justified the archetype. Also Bygone Bishop and Thraben Inspector provided the cards needed.
I think going green and Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun is a more likely justification for continuing the monument deck.
