I have mine in KMC Matte Dark Blue sleeves with KMC Perfect Fits. The lands are in one of those fat pack boxes and the cube itself is stored in the card box that came with the Beatdown boxed set (which makes me happy because it is somewhat cube-like in shape).
Black Dragon Shields. Each color is in a black Dragon Shield box, along with a box for nonbasics and a box for gold cards. THose boxes, along with unboxed artifacts, all fit into an 800-count white box. My basic lands are kept in a fat pack box.
I'd like something spiffy to keep them in, though. Maybe one of those metal Rook cases is the answer.
Pink Dragon Shields, soon with some perfect fits and maybe even a Rook Steel Storage but 1) I want pink and 2) I need a place to put my dice and counters.
For my counters I use some "ortho bucks" which are these wooden coins that were given to me from my orthodontist. They're awesome.
I can't find any of those rook cases anywhere. Anyone know where I could find one?
Right now I have all my cards sleeved in Black Dragonshield sleeves. I should have pics of my cube up in about 3-4 weeks if my flight home isn't delayed

Ultra pro Sleeves split eventually. I got Ultra Pro because I could get them very cheaply when I caught a sale at a local store (.50 cents per 100 sleeves), so I have about 1000 extra right now.
Having 500+200, you would only have 50 extra, which probably isn't enough. I would try to track down at least 100 more so you don't run out and have to buy new sleeves for the whole thing.
Dragon Shield or KMC are the way to go if you want quality sleeves. And the Rook Cases are sweet. I have my cube in a white Endura Tournament that I've had for years.

I have a bunch of black Ultra Pros for my cube (for about a year) or so and unfortunately, they split pretty often. I don't know if I got a bad batch but I'm definitely in the market for some sleeves that won't have the same fate.

I'd go with DragonShield. I've had my cube in it for 18 months now and haven't had to replace a single sleeve.
My classic cube is in Red DragonShields and my modern cube is in Black DragonShields. My classic cube is in a Black Rook Endura case that holds the entire cube & all the basics. The modern cube is kept in the same case but in White.
Every once in a while you'll see the rook cases on eBay for like $20-$25 for the 900-count size (that holds like 720 sleeved cards). I paid $22 (+ shipping) each for my two Rook cases. Everywhere else I looked had 'em for like $50+. I'd wait until an auction for "Rook Endura" shows up on eBay for cheaper before spending that kind of cash for the same case.

yeah, if ur willing to wait on ebay, u can definitely get those rook cases for cheap. I wasnt as patient and dropped $50 on mine
haha
Not so magic related but do you think it would be easy to repaint those rook cases? Do they come with a lock? Can I get like three pictures of them? Thanks, I just want to make sure it's worth the goyf prices.
Okay what do you guys use for counters and dice? Anything special? I played against a guy who used a Jesus figure for tokens.
Is it all right to go with Dragonshields/KMC, or should I also spend about $35 on the perfect fit sleeves? Do they make a big difference?
It depends on how expensive cards you pack.
I have had KMC sleeves for a long time, and I were perfectly happy with them, until recently where I started adding moxen, library and more expensive foils. With these cards I think it's good to double-sleeve. If you plan on aquiring some of those expensive cards, I think you should double-sleeve to begin with, as it's a hassle to re-sleve. (I've just resleved my entire cube from single KMC to Perfect Fit+KMC, and it took a lot of time...)
BTW: I recommend KMC sleeves a lot. I have tried all popular brands, and I think KMC beats them all by a fair margin.
haha. i like mine too but maybe not as much since i dropped $50USD + Shipping for mine.
i am still trying to find the old KMC Sleeves (100ct) for cheap. I had a deal to get 11 packs of 100 on motl, but the guy never got back to me, sad
anyone have any leads where i can pick KMC 100's (not the new 80 cts) for cheap, let me know (USA if that matters)
Why do you want the 100 and not just the 80's?
On ebay the prices are adjusted so they cost the same per sleeve anyway. I've just bought sleeves to my Tribal Cube, so I've been searching as well, but came to the conclusion that it didn't matter anyway, as the price are the same.

from what i have heard, there has been a rather noticeable difference in the quality (/quality control) of the new (100 ct) sleeves vs. the 80 ct sleeves.

yeah i can get a box of kmc matte 80's (10x packs of 80, so 800) for 45 shipped.
i also need like 1100 sleeves, so i still need to get a few more packages if i get that. I rather just get 11x packs of 100 and call it a day.
You keep the whole thing in toploaders? Meaning the thick rigid plastic things?
That seems like it would be a colossal headache to me. How do you shuffle them?
This is sarcasm, right?

You throw them at each other. It is painful but it works.
My secondary "cube".
Really out of date cube thread with pictures.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
Would this be adequate?

I'd stay away from Ultrapro because they split, at least from my experience.

For counters and dice we use casino D6's. (D6= 6-sided die) Casino dice are really, really nice.

As stated already; Its only worth it if you are running expensive cards (power, etc.) Otherwise it won't make much of a difference.
