I'm putting together a commander cube with multicolor legendary creatures drafted in their own pack. Do you think it would be worth making a special rule for the player who drafts Nazahn to get the Hammer along with him? Has anyone tried this versus just having the hammer in like any other card? I understand some people have done such a thing with the Urza lands in their cubes.
Short answer: Go for it, it's your cube. Give us your feedback on how it works out for you.
Longer anwser: It's an interesting option. Alot of people opt to include 'squadron picks' (named for cards like squadron hawk) for cards that NEED multiples or only work with a certain card (e.g. cards like Gisela/Bruna and Hanweir Battlements/Hanweir Garrison). It is an interesting option and lets you push certain cards that wouldn't make the cut in a lot of cubes, the key (IMO) is that one of the cards must be cube-able on it's own.
I don't run a commander cube so its hard to evaluate it specifically but I don't know if Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith (or his hammer) is good enough to earn a multi-coloured unless you are supporting some kind of equipment sub-theme. It feels like it is only great if you are the 'equipment deck', otherwise its just kinda ok and probably worse than other W/G options. He seems like he really wants to be a commander, otherwise he varies based on the equipment you draft. That being said 'squadron-ing' is very powerful since it's a 2-for-1 pick and that is inherently pretty solid.
Personally it wouldn't something I would jump to include, but it is interesting and flavorful. If you like it try it, if it sucks cut it or support it more.
