Liliana, Heretical Healer
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric
Lifelink
Whenever another nontoken creature you control dies, exile Liliana, Heretical Healer, then return her to the battlefield transformed under her owner's control. If you do, put a 2/2 black zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
2/3

Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
Loyalty: 3
+2 - Each player discards a card.
-X - Return target nonlegendary creature card with converted mana cost X from your graveyard to the battlefield.
-8 - You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature dies, return it to the battlefield under your control at the beginning of the next end step."
Oh yes! It had to be a damn three drop though, after years of me complaining we have so many great ones within the space of a year. I really like this card and the flavour is just off the charts!
So if Liliana and another dude die at the same time to like a Wrath, DOES she come back as a PW? I'm not clear on the rules here. I think that greatly affects her playability. A shame she can only reanimate dudes from your own graveyard
Oooh, fancy. She's quite the removal magnet, but that's what you hope for out of a 3 drop. I imagine you can chain some pretty fantastic turns together with her, perhaps even an infinite combo with the right pieces (though I don't know if cube can offer them).
It's ludicrous to try to evaluate exactly how a card this complicated play out in practice, but I think this definitely has potential. Can't wait to give it a spin.
Awesome flavor. First a creature, then a spark, then flips to a planeswalker. I'll definitely be cubing this one! The additional 2/2 zombie is just extra
This is the type of card my cube was made for. Don't know what is moving at 3 but this lady is in. I also love that it isn't just a raw power three drop. It is certainly powerful but I have no idea if this will be a first pick card or a wait and see if you are in black. Flavor is amazing though so my group will love having it.
Snap include. Any sac outlet lets me play and flip her for a 2/2 zombie and a plameswalker. A 3 drop planeswalker that summons a zombie etb is insane, this is great!
From what I heard about Magic Origins, I expected something like this: Creature to planeswalker DFCs.
Another playable lifelink creature in black is nice. And she turns into a good reanimation enabler. That even comes with its own reanimation spell, if you need it. The bonus zombie is also great to protect her new planeswalker form.
I'd really like to know if she transforms when she dies at the same time as another creature. That can make or break this card. I suspect that it doesn't work, but I am not sure.
It seems obvious that she doesn't become a PW when a wrath happens. She isn't on the battlefield anymore when the exile trigger tries to resolve and thus can't be exiled and can't come back as a PW. It's sad though. Still a pretty great card. Might make me think about more of a pronounced sac theme.
EDIT - those symbols for card type are kind of a big deal, by the way.
I'm pretty sure that those are just front/back symbols for the DFCs and not card type symbols like the future-shifted cards had them. The Innistrad DFCs also had two different symbols for their two different sides, only that those symbols represented day and night and these here represent human (?) and planeswalker.
So if Liliana and another dude die at the same time to like a Wrath, DOES she come back as a PW? I'm not clear on the rules here.
I asked around, looks like a no.
Wait, what? Pretty sure she sees the creature die and the trigger goes on the stack even though she's in the graveyard. JUDGE?
Not quite a judge, but no.
"Exile" means "exile from the battlefield" if not stated otherwise. As Liliana is already dead, she can't be exiled from the battlefield and is in turn not returned to the battlefield.
Some proof:
-Palinchron's "Return Palinchron to its owner's hand." VS Eternal Dragon's "Return Eternal Dragon from your graveyard to your hand."
-If the nonactive player casts Venser, Shaper Savant and targets the active player's Saltskitter, it ends up in the active player's hand.

Also a plausible theory.
Of course, this being the last core set ever and also having DFCs... it would be a great time to introduce a momentous change like card type symbols to the game.

If they wanted to do that, I suppose they would have done that last year when they changed the frame/layout. I can't imagine them changing it yet again. I'm pretty sure those symbols are just side-indicators for the DFCs.
Karla Ortiz hasn't done a lot of cards (hasn't had many sets) but I'm a big fan of her art and think that the Liliana art is her best. Wow.
I also think this card should be sweet; I'm going to be sitting out Tuesday's draft but this is the one I'm most excited to hear about since it's pretty absurd if she can turn into a PW (gets a zombie to defend her which is really sweet.) May make for some interesting scenarios where the opponent won't want to block your attackers and very nice with ones like Bloodghast/Bloodsoaked Champion (yes, it gives them a choice blah blah blah.)

This obviously isn't a cube thing, but can you cast a second copy of Liliana from your hand to flip her?
