I don't really know how you feel about Meloku in cube, but I don't think it cracs 360.
I was thinking about getting a Spanish Meloku, since it makes 2/2 tokens, and that is much better (also, lol)
What do you think is the best 5-drop in blue and how it competes with this?
Meloku is paobably at the top of the 5cc section for blue creatures already (since Mulldrifter isn't always a 5-drop and also isn't a finisher) so running a strictly better mistake is obviously good.
It's one of the several amazing cards you can add in if you count misprinted cards as real options.
There's a thread that collects all these kinds of cards floating around here somewhere.
Also if you're playing conspiracies, the one that gives the specific creatures haste can name Illusion since that's the name of one half of a split card. Got killed the other day when my opponent returned all his lands and alpha strikes me out of no where with the hasty card naming Illusion. (Illusion//Reality)
Oh wow, I didn't know that naming actually Illusion works.
I'm pretty sure it's the only token that works, since split cards are technically two different cards and Illusion is the only token type that actually shares its name with a real card.
In terms of skullclamp: missing that isn't nothing, but the consistently much-faster clock makes up for the lack of skullcap synergy.

There are others, but that's the only case relevant for Cube.
If your looking for misprints at all, I recommend the german Keranos, God of Storms, which does it's effect every turn, not just in yours and the german Ugin, the spirit dragon, which exiles everything with converted mana cost X or more.
Our Meloku is Spanish because my buddy just loves misprints, but we don't play it as printed. We use the current rules text for the card.
As you should. I don't see the appeal of not playing this way, really. (Custom cards and their associated rules would be an exception.)
He has the misprint Cursed Scroll that only costs 2 to activate as well, but I won't let him put it in. It's already annoying enough to have to explain to people that "No, Meloku does NOT make 2/2s." I don't want to have to tell people that Cursed Scroll actually costs 3 to activate also. Some of our players are newer (as in last five or so years) to the game, so they aren't as familiar with the older stuff. I'd feel bad if a game was won or lost because someone accidentally played it as printed when it's actually a misprint.
Well, at the end of the day don't worry about us, if you and your cube group want to play a Meloku that makes 2/2s and you think that's fun, do that!
To answer a question you had that I didn't see in OP originally: Treachery is the best 5-drop in blue, maybe in cube in general. Free control magics are just ******* disgusting.

For those curious, Splintering Wind produces tokens named Splinter; and there's that Future Sight cycle of six cards that produce tokens named after one-drops (Llanowar Mentor makes Llanowar Elves, etc).

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
