Mutavault is great, I don't run it, but It's one of those I really should run, I just haven't taken the time or $ to acquire it. I would't mind seeing a more accessible full art version of it though since its so $$$$.
I can't think of anything that comes to mind either of things that would be cubable if it had another creature type, Maybe hornet queen if it was more like a flying squirrel version of deranged hermit
Mutavault is sweet and me being cheap is the only reason I'm not running it. But since tribal isn't really a thing in my cube, Mishra's Factory is doing a great impression of it.
Lumbering Falls has been great. Also, protip: don't wasteland the falls when they can activate it! I learned that one the hard (read: brainfart) way.
Amonkhet was awesome, even in comparison to older sits they really knocked it out of the park flavor-wise. In stark contrast, Ixalan has some of the worst, as it's just a bunch of characters and types of creatures thrown into a jungle without it ever feeling like a jungle or anything special at all.
Lumbering Falls is a solid manland. It can be really hard for some decks to deal with.
The floating plains in the sanctum of Serra was a really cool setting. Featured on the Plains, Drifting Meadow and Serra's Sanctum itself from the Saga block. Such a cool locale.
Nightveil Specter is really nice if you support devotion in blue or black at all. Drawing cards from your opponent's deck is worse than drawing from your own, but it still is a 2 power flyer for 3 mana that nets you extra cards.
Agreed. If devotion is a thing (in both colors) Specter is a sweet card. If not, I think it's too cost-prohibitive with all those mana symbols to be worthwhile.
I do not like the prerelease date stamps, and I go after the regular pack foils instead.
ran spectre for a while and it just never made it into decks. I also really hate the promo art. its so black and on a foil promo it might as well not be foil at all and you cant see the creature at all.
I like date stamps on cards from events I actually attended. otherwise i try for pack foil.
Never even heard of this card until here. The ability is a very conditional "draw" ability. I'd rather have the classic Shadowmage Infiltrator.
I like the golden stamps on prerelease cards. I don't intentionally pursue them, but I like to have them in some of the cards.
Hostage Taker is so awesome. I'm the most resistant to multicolored spells because I feel like every cut is a Sophie's Choice-like decision, but Hostage Taker is the real deal. It's truly sickening when your creature gets bannisher priest'd and then they just have your friggin creature.
It hasn't come up yet, but I imagine eventually someone will bounce or kill their own creature in response and then it'll be some bad news bears.
Hostage Taker is ranked #2 in Dimir after Baleful Strix for me. All cards in my cube are played with their current Oracle texts, though it would be nice to have an FNM promo of Hostage Taker printed so there can be a version with the correct text.
Filler-gree Familiar is ok if you're going deep on the artifact.dec, and blink/bounce decks, since it's a decent value creature if you can abuse it. But otherwise, it's just not good enough, IMO.

Agree. It's cute and all, but standard cubes don't have the space.
Today's card has been able to retain its value despite having over a dozen printings, while seeing almost zero competitive play. Commander is one hell of a drug, apparently.
Is there an old Standard deck you try to support in your cube, aided by cards from across Magic, or is cube too powerful a format for that to be viable?
Every time I play it in commander I kinda want to add it back into my cube. Any deck with creatures can probably find a use for it; Midrange loves it for fighting control, control likes it for protecting its finishers and even agro might want the haste sometimes.
Getting it down early can be a real nightmare for your opponent since any creature resolved after it comes down can be granted haste and shroud so if your opponent didn't have instant speed removal they are in a tough spot.
Being a cheap equipment with a 0 equip cost helps it a lot, it is probably as cheap as this kind of effect will ever get. It is a bit unusual in the fact it doesn't tend to get equipped to the same kind of creatures as most others, it's nice to have an equipment for the non-evasive creatures.
No examples come to mind, but I'd like some more green elves or black vampires.

Which plane (or Dominarian continent) has your favorite looking geography? Such as cityscapes of Ravnica, or the floating islands of Zendikar?

Hostage Taker
Those who run Hostage Taker, do you play it with or without the errata? If you do, how do you ensure people who might not play Standard know?
It hasn't come up yet, but I imagine eventually someone will bounce or kill their own creature in response and then it'll be some bad news bears.
