Pretty sure it's worded this way so if you have 6-mana, the second half of the card is substantially better. I might be interested in the card if it was at instant speed, but as is, these effects take a pretty big hit from being a sorcery.
That's a great catch! So then this can be 4 and 4 damage. But I think we can all agree, flipping these would've made it super fun and probably playable 450+.
Not a fan of this one. I think six is too much to pay for both effects. If one of them (probably the Insult half) cost 1R instead, I'd have some interest.
Might test this out. I want another burn spell and the first side effect here is quite interesting for aggro and could work well as a psuedo-curve toppee. It will also be straightforward to pitch this for value in many decks, and it procs twice for the Prowess guys as well. I think it could be pretty good. Looting this away and having a free Staggershock of sorts seems nice.
This is a nice combination of effects. For the normal flow of the game, I'd rather have the effects switched around, but once you reach six mana, casting both in the same turn is brutal. So, I am actually fine with this order.
Insult will play kinda like a better Trumpet Blast in an aggro deck. Better, because with almost no 1-power creatures in the typical aggro deck, the average bonus damage should be more than 2 per creature. Also, because it makes any burn spell cast in the same turn simply insane. Then, you get a Lunge for free. That card would be totally overcosted and uncubable, but since it doesn't cost you a card, the mana cost is totally fine. I mean, we are playing 5 mana shocks in the same situation.
All in all, I think this is a decent card for aggressive cube decks. (Too bad it looks totally stupid, so I won't be cubing with it.)
Adding flavor insult to the functional injury: the Insult should follow the Injury to fit the idiom, not the other way round.
Huh? The idiom is "to add insult to injury" and that is just the order on this card. These new split cards should be read as "X to Y", making this "Insult to Injury".

The point being you're adding the injury after the fact, so you're adding injury to the original insult. To add insult to injury implies the insult comes after.

I think I may test this one out as well. I think there is enough value here that it's worth a cube slot and casting both together is pretty brutal. Anyone have play test results yet?
It's a bit of a win more card to me. Casting both halves on the same turn is cool, but aggro won't be able to take full advantage of the double damage late game most of the time.
I think this works well as a finisher in an aggro deck. Either you have a few creatures out and alpha strike for double damage. Or you use this as a Fork for a finishing burn spell the face. Or both. And the card itself provides a burn spell and increases the chances for doing both. Unless you win very quickly, you will eventually reach 4RR. Even in an aggro deck.
This card seems like a decent and interesting inclusion for larger cubes.
Just wanted to report that this card was the sleeper of the set for us. It performed very, very well, surpassing our expectations on all fronts. It just ends games in a hurry and is great both when each half is cast separately and obviously also when both are cast at the same time. It's also very good in aggro.
Yea, this card is an aggressive powerhouse of near Sulfuric Vortex levels. Should be a staple of nearly every cube soon (reminds me of Craterhoof from many years ago in how underrated it was). This blog gives a more detailed reasoning than I'm able to do from my phone here though: http://mtgcube.blogspot.com/2017/07/winners-and-losers-from-hour-of.html?m=0
We also support burn, a deck in which this card is obviously very strong; but it also needs to be good in aggro in order to justify the cube slot, hence my remark.
Alrighty, double strong recommendation from Fredo, kmayer and it's stayed in goodkings cube.

Same. Comparing this to Sulfuric Vortex is pretty much saying it's the best card you could get in a RDW, so I'm interested to see if it would play the same for me.
Just some feedback after playing this for a while now:
This card is very popular here. We have seen amazing kills with Fireblast, we have seen brutal, crushing attacks from Reality Smasher. It also makes for great value plays with the Injury part added on.
All in all, a top level red card for us . A great addition to our cube!
Insult // Injury — Overrun type of effects tend to suffer in Cube due to how efficient mass removal is, as having an Overrun stuck in hand can be awful if there's nothing to pump, and Overrun's awkward {2}{G}{G}{G} cost didn't help with that either. Insult // Injury looks innocuous but is better than it looks since I found that it works somewhat similarly to Overrun by doubling the power of creatures and the power of Planeswalker damage or burn. This typically meant that cheap burn was cast afterward at an incredible rate. Having a Lunge in the graveyard isn't efficient as a burn spell, but it acted as a bit of impending doom that the opponent has to be able to deal with if they get to 2 life (similarly to Seal of Fire or a Firebolt in the graveyard.) I found that it being cast for both halves didn't happen that often, but it did happen if the aggro deck found itself in the later stages of the game and needed to end things.
There's some additional side benefits, like being able to stop the damage prevention on creatures with protection, but this mode was more flavor text than real text. I wasn't able to get as many reps with it as I'd like to, but this card was a lot like some of the cyclers where it exceeded my lukewarm impressions.
My impression remains the same and if anything, my opinion of it is higher than it was before. It's a very good card that kills out of nowhere.
This card needs a mirror. The exact issue with this card is that it shouldve been reversed.
Somewhat *****ty burn spell that you find a way to use. Then it sit there all game, waiting for that one window to BOOM.
Sadly that fantasy is untrue.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:

Only good with a lot of creatures.
