Counter target spell unless its controller pays 1.
Cycling U (U, Discard this card: Draw a card.)
A new Miscalculation! I've been wanting another 2 mana counterspell, and while I'd rather have a hard counter to fill that spot, perhaps the modality of this gets there?

Decent filler card, but I don't think this is going to crack a lot of blue sections. Too bad this couldn't have been Spell Pierce / Negate with cycling or something.
I agree there are a lot of ways to may this more exciting. Spell Piece/Dispell/Negate/Essense Scatter/Stifle etc would have been great with cycling but this is what we get.
For the record I love Force Spike/Force of Will/ Daze is powerful cubes and Daze gets played for 1U plenty of times. I will have to think on it if I have room because cycling for U is great, and then it is the yard for snap/gearhulk/jace on the offchance it is needed. I also really like it in tempo shells as you are often forcing them to have answers on tight mana.
Not sure if it is a keeper but it is my prediction as the most underestimated card of the set. (at least so far)
So easy to cycle it away when it stops becoming relevant.
Feel saturated with situational counter spells at the moment , all of which are probably better than this, so the card may not stick ...
But definitely testing.
Large cubes should windmill slam this.
Do not underestimate the value of 1 mana cycling. There are combo decks in cube that could consider running a card that's literally just U:draw a card.
Unlike plenty of other conditional counters, this is simply never dead: you can always draw a card if you can't find a use for it. And the fact that it cycles for a single blue mana is also sweet. Seems like a shoe-in for large cubes, and worth considering for medium-sized ones (I certainly plan to test it at 540).
Excited to test this. I don't think it's going to be the world-beater here that it will be in constructed (things are much more curve-oriented there), but U cycling is incredibly powerful to have access to. It's the best soft counter we've gotten in ages.
This is a good card. 1-mana cycling is great, and it still counters any on-curve spell for 1U. It may ultimately miss the cut for me, but I want to test it and be sure.
This card is okay, but I was really hoping for something a little better. I'm running 4x Counterspell and 2x Mana Leak until more decent two-mana options come out, and I'm certainly not going to cut one of those for this, although I'm always clamoring to cut duplicates. I'll probably throw this in because cycling is good, but I'm really not a fan of Force Spikes that cost more than 1. They get so much worse in game 2. I guess you can cycle this out of game 2, but still...
BUT this is a 2 mana counter, and it is vaguely playable, which is more than we generally get. Small victories.
I like it. It counters a spell on curve perfectly regardless of if it asks for 1 extra or 3 extra or 10 extra. And mid-to-late game you just ditch it EOT or when you have spare mana. Cycling U is really cheap and the value is in smoothing out your game when the effect is redundant. I have enough good two mana counters that I probably don't need another, but this card should be tested by folks.

They do get worse game two but that is because your opponent is already playing off curve. Then this one is the best because you can cycle it when they try to outplay you.
This feels quite a bit worse than Miscalculation and Daze to me, but the way you guys are talking, I feel like I'm missing something. Do you think it compares well to those cards?
A card doesn't have to compare well to staples to be cubeable. That being said, I think those will be consistently better but there are a number of scenarios where this will perform better.
I'd rather diversify the card pool by breaking up multiples, and in a 1000+ card cube, Censor easily makes the cut on merit. Plus, it's an interesting design. Somewhere in between Miscalculation and Complicate in powerlevel.

I like complicate more than this. It will counter a spell much more consistently than censor and it has the possibility of countering and drawing. It can't help smooth out a low mana hand the way censor can but I think it's a better counterspell and that is the main purpose. I was recommended complicate from this site and is become one of my favorite counterspells.

I also thought the days of getting counterspells that are even in the conversation with these cards were over. Do I need another card that plays so similarly and is probably a little worse. I don't know
I think I like this slightly better than complicate.
U: cycle is so good to hitting land drops, digging for answers etc
That's it's worth an effeciency hit on the main side of the card
