It severely punishes delve decks, as they have the most fetches, DRSs, wastelands. Your two drop could do 4-8 damage a game in a format where those decks exist.
Mediocre in combat-centric matchups, but it has random moments where the ceiling is absurd, or it shuts off several of the opponent's cards. It has a high enough ceiling for a 1R costed card to justify the floor of being a red Grizzly Bears. The ACS has been like 2-6 direct damage (or shutting off some number of the opponent's cards) and getting in once or twice in combat before being traded away with anther body. Well worth the 2 mana.
Looking to add another 2 drop to my 450 red section - would people play this card or Plated Geopede? Leaning towards the latter, since you're more likely to have a land drop than your opponent getting hosed by this card.

I would go for Harsh Mentor; a more interesting/unique effect that taxes a lot of strategies and lets the red 2 drop slot do more than just swing for 3. He has appeared for us a few times and has been fairly good (he has wiffed once, but for all I know he was keeping something from hitting the board).
If you are solely looking for agro beats the geopede might be better, but I can't say for sure as I don't run it.
TBF Geopede swings for 5 with any fetch. That's pretty big game.
Seems good when it pans out, but in my head he is a 3/3 first striker most of the time and a terrible top deck. It reminds me of the argument against the non 2 power 1 drops that grow; often when you NEED that extra power you can't guarantee it.
It probably comes down to the direction you want to take red, I'm just not a big fan of the glut of 3 power guys who aren't too interesting outside of that.
How would you guys compare Harsh Mentor to Abbot of Keral Keep? Thinking about making the swap but I'm unsure. Abbot has been fine, nothing exciting in my 450 cube.

Both have definitely been pulling their weight since being added in. Abbot is a better topdeck, but Mentor is more disruptive. I like both quite a bit, TBH.
