I like the card, but I think it needed to be able to copy PW's to make it (I'm assuming it can't because they get their starting loyalty as they enter the battlefield, so this would just die as an SBA if it tried to copy a PW). As it is you've invested 5 mana before you get your first attack or block.
Cool design though.
Edit - Although, we run Topsy Turvy, and (I think?) this goes infinite with that, so yeah. Maybe I'll test for the lulz.
For what it's worth, you can turn it into a land eot and have an extra mana the following turn. Little tech like that might push it over the edge for me. It's a unique, interesting effect.
Quick rules question - can I have it become a creature and then attack with said creature that turn, assuming I've controlled the Mirror through 1 upkeep?

Yes, you will have controlled that permanent since the beginning of your turn, even though it changed characteristics. Similarly, you won't be able to attack the turn you play it, even if you copied a creature that had already been in play.
Mimic Vat / Pseudo Clever Impersonator does have me intrigued. It may not trigger ETBS, but there's plenty of other useful attack triggers or copying yours or your opponent's super fatty seems like big game. I may give this a test run over some random mana rock.

The copy a land trick doesn't work since it's worded "until end of turn."
Yes, you can copy / attack with mirror as long as you controlled mirror since the beginning of the current turn.

Ah I stand corrected - until end of turn effects are indeed checked during cleanup. That makes this card much less exciting to me, as it would be super awesome if you could stagger the effect so it didn't suck up mana during your main phase.

If I'm reading it right, when it becomes a copy of X it loses the ability to copy something else until it reverts back to artifact form at EoT. Probably a corner case that won't come up very often but it would be cool to have the ability to copy a land after already copying a creature in response to removal. This is a cool card but I think it's a pass for me.
You could activate to copy something, hold priority, activate again to copy a Cradle, tap the copied Cradle for mana, then resolve the first copy activation. That seems like Magical Christmas Land, but pretty sweet. I think I like this card enough to try to find room to test it. It's not broken, but it looks pretty fun.
Looking forward to tutoring this with Trophy Mage in my Kami of the Crescent Moon / Iron Maiden EDH deck, but hard pass in the cube.

If you support the Time Vault combo or the Dark Depths package, this works well with both. Otherwise it's an easy pass.
Yeah it does go infinite with Vault. That's good news. Maybe we should give a try after all. Don't know if it's that good somewhere else though. We think we still prefer Voltaic Key for that matter. Even if it narrower, it's certainly more powerful anywhere we end up putting it. Untapping a Grim Monolith or a powerful artifact creature is always good. Copy stuff UEOT for 5 mana won't always be.

You could easily switch the subjects of what is and isn't good in these statements. Untapping a Monolith or a powerful artifact creature isn't *always* good, and there are a lot of times copying a ridiculous cube creature/artifact/enchantment will always be better than what key could do outside of vault combo.

Yeah. If there's an argument to be made for this card, it's in how versatile it is. Best thing in play is an artifact? K, you get it. Now you have 2 swords, or 2 skull clamps, or whatever. Great enchantment in play? Now you have one too! Only bummer is I don't think you can get the upkeep trigger enchantments like arena, since you won't get priority until after those triggers would have gone on the stack.
It is a surprisingly rattlesnake card. In my opinion it is rather inexpensive for what it can do and typically only gets better late game. Sadly it doesn't make for a good planeswalker (Mcyosynth Lattice and such) which is probably why the devs didn't just have it instead say "target permanent". This isn't too much of a loss because it can still evenly trade with Emrakul, the Promised End and Blightsteel Colossus (and since Blightsteel's triggered ability is a replacement effect, Mirage Mirror would also be shuffled into your library after said trade[since the MM'd BC doesn't leave the battlefield before the trigger resolves]). Also, 3 to activate anyone's Nevinyrral's Disk even the one you just cast and entered the battlefield tapped (because chances are that Mirage Mirror is untapped).
This forum is for cube card discussion. Rules questions belong here. I can't really blame you for that, though, as you're new.
That being said, a few questions here and there are completely valid/unacceptable/make no difference at all. Magic is confusing, and cube may be one of the more complicated formats due to all the interactions.
Loses ETB triggers, but still strong since it can copy a lot of things. Thoughts?

Follow me. I tweet.
Costs 5 mana to impact the board at all , with 2 cumulative mana per turn to do something that at most matches something on board.
This is far from a clone creature effect as it loses ETB triggers.
There's cool tricks with it, but far too mana intensive imo
