I think I'm happy with two 6 drops in black at my size and very confident it's less good than the two I play (massacre wurm/grave titan), but card is good.

worth testing in large cubes imo

I currently just run one 6 drop in black. Not sure if this one will make me run 2 but it's really good. I like that it survives Wildfire.

It's good, but I prefer Noxious Gearhulk. Artifact synergy is better than vampire synergy, and I'd rather have life than counters when I'm trying to stabilize with a six drop. It's debatable, but I don't think gearhulk sees that much play any.

I like both Noxious Gearhulk and Massacre Wurm more, and currently don't run either.

I like Gearhulk more, but this is somewhat close. Lifegain is a needed effect in black, artifact synergies are relevant, and Gearhulk is a better stabilizer, especially against decks that go wide. The 5/4 menace body and 5/5 flying body are comparable.

This isn't crazy exciting, but it's probably good enough to make my 720 cut. I think it compares favorably to my weakest six-drop, which is Kokusho. Both are probably 5/5 fliers for six mana, but this one gives a benefit on the way in, whereas Kokusho has to die to get extra value. Plus, this one can grow to be even larger if unanswered and you can keep killing their creatures. I do think I prefer Noxious Gearhulk and its lifegain effect to the exile effect here, with comparable evasion between the two... but at 720, there's room for both.

I'll be a little sad if this is the end of the line for Kokusho. Recurring Nightmare is probably my single favorite cube card, and Kokusho was a game-winning pairing with it. Recurring this will probably win those same games, but not as decisively or entertainingly.

I wish this card cost 5 mana, even 2BBB. I would be all over including it.

What does WotC have against pricing black cards at five mana? Both this and Gearhulk could have been fives and not broken any formats.

I prefer Noxious Gearhulk. That lifegain is huge.

But yeah, couldn't this have been a 3/3 for 3BB?
