I don't think one-for-one discard is good at all, and that's why piracy charm isn't useful. The worst spell in your hand (piracy charm) is frequently not worse than the worst card in the opponent's hand (land). Raven's crime works because it turns your bad variance (too many lands) into upside.
I think more or less is possibly extremely useful, or at the very least it will come up constantly. There are plenty of turns in magic where either +0/+1 or -0/-1 is worth a card, it's just that the cards that do that are dead every other turn. Occasionally having infinite combos is really interesting, and I'm sure there's more.
I thought about a comp for More or Less and I settled on Stifle, which is a similar card with tons of little uses and a few big ol' uses (fetches, Planeswalker ultimates). Stifle is not in the average 720 list on CubeTutor, which I suppose does not portend well for us here in Peasant.
That said, I want to test the card in some capacity to see if the ceiling is high enough to justify the low basement. Similar cards to this do not tend to stick around in cubes, because it is much easier to build around consistent cards than inconsistent cards.
If there were more fetches we would probably see more stifles, but there are a lot of triggers that when they're stifled are kinda lame, or there are none and stifle sits in your hand. This has a lot more options, since it can proactively deal with creatures along with all the other proactive/reactive applications, whereas Stifle is purely reactive and not only that but kinda narrow in a way that wildly varies.
I don't believe More or Less is going to be dead for a long time very often, it works with so many cards.
edit: I have to say though, what I appreciate most about the card is that it makes you think outside the box. It'll be a great feeling to realize "Sh*t, I can actually do ~this~" during a game. I'm really tempted to put it into the cube just to see what people come up with.
It's like Searing Blaze/Blood in concept, obv different in a number of ways as RR is tough and 2R is obv worse than CMC 2 especially for removal, but killing x/4s and not 'wasting' points of burn on smaller creatures seems good.
Yeah it's a strong card, but so many other good red burn spells are out there. Death Ray is probably about on par with Volcanic Hammer (Incendiary Flow, etc) just on sheer power level.
Yes, you can. You have to target it, and it's not a spell until it hits the stack, so that's how it would work. Cloudgoat Ranger could make 2/1s the same way Gather the Townsfolk could make 2/1s, I think the difference would be that since it's an ETB trigger you after to do it on Cloudgoat after it ETB? This un-set has been asking a lot of our rules knowledge lol
A bit late, but I also like More or Less. Didn't think I'd consider anything from this set. On most cards it only has a very small effect, but having an effect on almost every card will probably make up for it and the more versatile a card is, the more fun it is to play with it. There will always be a use for it and the worst case in most games should by cycling for U. I also like that neither the card rules nor the art are too silly. Maybe the flavor text, but I'm ok with that. Just blackened the border of my Booster Tutor, which looks just like a real card if double sleeved, so I may actually play this.
EDIT: More or less also gives infinite mana with Devoted Druid (additionally to the already mentioned Basalt Monolith). And it's even green mana.
EDIT2: Just for clarification. If a spell is on the stack, can I still change the numbers with More or Less? Eg if I cast Spectral Procession, then cast MoL, can I use it to create three 2/1 tokens? I assume yes, but...
If I understand the card correctly you'd have to change the text on Cloudgoat before the trigger goes on the stack, because you can't change the trigger text. So you'd actually have to change it while Cloudgoat is on the stack.
FWIW, XMage is an awesome online program. It's free, and similar to MODO in the regard that things are automated in game vs other software like Cockatrice.
We also organize drafts on saturday afternoons, and it often is/has been peasant cubes as the lists rotate depending on who can make it.

Yeah, I was trying to get a group like this together at some point. Wish it had been a stable thing.
I think I'll throw up a post in my local groups and see if I can get something going this week.
It's pretty great for organizing 'private' drafts too, as you can include bots if you want a bigger card pool. I would play more with my friends on there if they weren't too busy to even get online and learn. (Some are more lazy than busy lol they're often the same who complain they never cube anymore.)

Trample on spells doesn't quite work with the rules as written as far as I can see, but who cares.

How many Welkin Tern does your cube want.
Pretty sure this is number 4 in blue with the same text? this, Welkin Tern, Tattered Haunter, Vaporkin on top of Skyship Plunderer.
