I was gonna say the same thing about the triskelion combo but idk, I think I still like revilark since you're still playing the rest if the combo pieces and have so many small utility creatures that it could bring back. How about putrid imp for a super cheap discard outlet instead of packrat which costs 5 mana?
Maelstrom Wanderer is showing up a lot in the new meta now that Oloro is banned and there's already a few new lists on mtgtop8. What does everybody think about this creature centric version that placed 2nd in Link Commander Challenge 3 (Nîmes)?
The fact that its based more on big overpowered creatures means that it's less hurt by Gaddock Teeg and hits harder with big hasty etb creatures. It also has a combo with Greater Good + Dream Halls that lets you sac MW over and over and draw cards and discard to keep playing him and cascade your whole deck. It also abuses cards like Eureka with permanents that draw even more permanents, Food Chain and Sneak Attack, and Flash to chain out a ton of big cards.
The addition of black and blue is pretty strong IMO as it opens the deck up to some of the strongest cards in 1v1. So far I've been doing well against top decks in the meta and haven't struggled with mana. Changes from the placing list
I'm just getting into this deck and learning all it's tricks and everything but I have to say this things a well oiled masterpiece. Here's a few changes to my list from the stock list but let me know why I'm wrong if you don't mind.
- Daze
- Probe
- Land Grant
- Wirewood Herald
- Owl Familiar
- Cursecatcher
- Lotus Cobra
Daze and Probe seem random since it's mostly just an all in combo deck with no interaction. Is it worth having just one slot to soft counter and a cantrip instead of going fully all in with more combo pieces like sylvan library and food chain? library doesn't do anything the turn it comes down but it draws 2 extra cards after that and food chain provides a ton of ramp and color fixing to keep the chain going. I know having creatures on the board to clamp and bounce is good but when I tested food chain for a little while it let me play more creatures in general, made use of the useless ones and ramp crazy high by playing a 4 drop for 1 and then sacing it for 5 mana of any color for example.
What do you think of Chrome Mox over Land Grant? Mox can get Animar out a turn faster and can be used during a combo after a land drop already so it's not a dead draw like Land Grant can be.
How useful is wirewood herald? There's no sac effects in the deck so you have to wait for an opponent to kill it. Isn't it usually a dead draw over vs another combo piece like pod even though it needs a lot of mana? Although it actually seems really good alongside pod.
Owl Familiar vs Alchemist’s Apprentice is clampable vs not having to discard a card.
cursecatcher vs Elvish mystic. Both one drops and I like mana dorks to get out animar turn 2. Seems more relevant to the deck
And lastly Orcish Lumberjack vs Lotus Cobra. Not sure if this one's right or not but lumberjack provides a ton of mana.
I put in Sylvan Scrying and Maps to search for Cradle, Nykthos, and Wirewood Lodge along with Wayfarer and KotR and replaced Sprawl and Growth because I want to get those lands out asap and I don’t want to be blowing them up so I don’t like Armageddon and Ravages of War. Hokkori is great with Cradle out and 4 ways to tutor for it.
I like Voice of Resurgence as a hatebear much more than Aven. Resurgence is great against counters and removal while I don’t think that Aven does enough.
Earthcraft is just a good card, i think it needs to be in here. It turns every creature into a mana dork with haste for 2 mana and all the Marath decks run it.
Oblivion Rings is a direct upgrade to Council’s Judgement imo since it costs 1 less W and can be tutored for with Enlightened Tutor.
Fauna Shaman needs to be in here and I think Elvish Archdruid can replace Wood Elves since it’s the weakest 3cmc elf. Woodelves can fetch a white source but I really think Archdruid is nuts in this deck especially with the untap effects.
Genesis Wave is one of my personal favorite cards and I think it fits perfectly in a deck that ramps this hard and is almost all permanents.
So like
-1 Kotr, +1 Archdruid
-1 Wayfarer, +1 Maps
-1 Sprawl, +1 Sylvan Scrying
-1 Wild Growth, +1 Birchlore
That would add 3 more elves to the deck also for synergy. And then maybe Gyre Sage over Bloom Tender since it has the potential to get bigger but I'm not sure about that one. I also like Earthcraft for amazing synergy with chaining low cmc summoning sick elves with Skullclamp, Genesis Wave, ect.
Looks nice, just want to let you know that you have 40 creatures in that list, not 41 so you're short a card. I'm gonna try it out, I put fauna shamaman as the missing creature and summoners pact instead of tanglewire.
Sorry if this has been discussed before but what's up with the Gifts Ungiven in shoktroopas latest few lists? Is it just for value and Mindslaver + Ruins?

The deck is basically a Marath deck that combo with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Zealous Conscripts, Deceiver Exarch, Pestermite, or Restoration Angel and has all of the same core cards and tutors plus better ones that take advantage of the addition of black and blue like Demonic Tutor, Tainted Pact and Lim-Dûl's Vault.
The addition of black and blue is pretty strong IMO as it opens the deck up to some of the strongest cards in 1v1. So far I've been doing well against top decks in the meta and haven't struggled with mana. Changes from the placing list
- Scavenging Ooze

+ Vindicate
+ Chromatic Lantern
Thoughts?
Black Sun's Zenith
Bubbling Muck
Snuff Out
Peat Bog
Lake of the Dead
Ebon Stronghold
Although i can see you wanting Stone over Zenith since stone hits other things too even though it costs a lot of mana but it's a thought.
How useful do you find Lightning Greaves to be? That's what I would cut for pact.
Loving the deck so far though, I played against you tonight on cockatrice with Animar

- Wood Elves
- Yavimaya Hollow
- Flagstones
- Aven Mindcensor
- Council’s Judgement

+ Genesis Wave
+ Mirri’s Guile
+ Expedition Maps
+ Sylvan Scrying
+ Earthcraft
+ Elvish Archdruid

I put in Sylvan Scrying and Maps to search for Cradle, Nykthos, and Wirewood Lodge along with Wayfarer and KotR and replaced Sprawl and Growth because I want to get those lands out asap and I don’t want to be blowing them up so I don’t like Armageddon and Ravages of War. Btw how do you feel about Elvish Archdruid, Fauna Shaman, Genesis Wave, Nykthos Shrine to Nyx, Sylvan Scrying, Expedition Maps, Birchlore Rangers, Earthcraft, Gyre Sage, Beast Within and Summoner's Pact in here?
Personally I think
-1 forest, +1 Nykthos
-1 Gaddock, +1 Genesis Wave
-1 Tangle Wire, +1 Fauna Shaman
-1 Aven, +1 Summoner's Pact
And maybe Elvish Archdruid over Knight of the Reliquary since it would ramp as well and pump up everything else and Expedition Maps or Sylvan Scrying over Weathered Wayfarer since they're probably more consistent.
One more thing I see is that there's a little anti-synergy with Utopia Sprawl and Wild Growth with Armageddon, Ravages of War, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, and Hokori, Dust Drinker.
So like
-1 Kotr, +1 Archdruid
-1 Wayfarer, +1 Maps
-1 Sprawl, +1 Sylvan Scrying
-1 Wild Growth, +1 Birchlore
That would add 3 more elves to the deck also for synergy. And then maybe Gyre Sage over Bloom Tender since it has the potential to get bigger but I'm not sure about that one. I also like Earthcraft for amazing synergy with chaining low cmc summoning sick elves with Skullclamp, Genesis Wave, ect.
