@racing089 I own both talisman and Dimir signet. Dimir gives you two mana for the price of 1 while talisman only taps for 1 while you only get 1 colorless or B or U with Talismans plus taking 1 damage. Maybe im dense... I see the consensus here seems to be run talisman but I don't understand the reasoning. Might you enlighten me?
May I? Paying one to get two off Signet, or just getting one free mana off Talisman, is the exact same payoff / ramp effect. The occasional 1 life you'll pay matters less than the upside of being able to cast Serum Visions / Inquisition / Thoughtseize / any artifact trinket off Talisman when it comes down T2, which Signet can't do.
Saw a mention of another thopter deck making a 5-0. This one looks pretty cool, with notably 4 copies of thraben inspector, and 4 copies of relic. I was just thinking how nice it would be to have a value 1-drop creature, and inspector gives you an early blocker, an artifact for improvise and metalcraft, and card draw later. I wish it were a 1/1 to get swords back, and to that effect, I was musing about the 1/1 that scries 4 on etb, but inspector is probably better.
Only 1 bridge seems suspect, but the 4 main deck dispatch must fill that hole.
In the same vein, I just saw that Zac Elsik’s last iteration of Blue Steel was running Artificer’s Assistant. Looks like there is at least some amount of utility in there, and it does bring the sword back.
I'll echo the other Old schoolers here saying that Tezz is still a powerhouse in the shell. Set up right, he's one of the strongest things (one-turn clock, card advantage engine, etc. etc. etc.) -- Good stuff even against Jund, yes.

Clarification on an earlier post: In the 2nd round of the PTQ at Hartford, Grand Prix, I was the cat that Dustycrumbz faced, not Racing089. He was an exemplary opponent - good laughs. If I find the time to take a break from my mono-red prison deck, Pyro Prison, I'll be back here.
Why wouldn't I return? Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is the single greatest card in the pantheon of Magic, The Gathering.

I found myself in this weird spot where most of my modern collection (including my sacred foiled out Tezz deck) got sucked in a big trade for Power nine cards (yay!) so i’m looking to rebuild Tezzerator from the ground up now. And your deck config looks like a very good budget-conscious build, save for the Opals. So i might head there.
This being said, does any of you guys have spare pieces that are up for grabs?
2 tezz decks day 2'd GP kyoto so thats cool. i've not had a chance to play for a while now and i've been busy with work and training, i've got a comp lined up for a couple weeks so magic is taking a back seat to fighting right now and for the foreseeable future as im planning on competing a few times in the next few months. i'll try and keep up to date with the deck when i can but i won't be contributing since i probably won't be of much help. hope every one is having a blast with the deck though and i'll be back eventually
