The End of an Era

After a long time lurking, time to share what I have. List if far from optimal but has a feel things going I haven't seem here yet. There's only 1 point I'd really like people to take seriously: Sagu Mauler is lights out against a HUGE part of the field and that includes - to some extent - eldrazi (in my opinion nothing beats or should beat Eldrazi consistently. Eldrazi is an aberration that only Aaron Forsythe should answer for - with his resignation - but still, any edge is an edge).

Also, this list has a big potential for turn 2 double planeswalkers (without being a dedicated Curio Walkers deck). This is algo huge. People get out of their minds and even start making stupid plays after facing something like this. Use it.

Finally, this is MTGO only and due to this absurd bug on Genesis Hydra thats never fixed (no need to say there's a sea of people responsible for MTGO that also needs to be fired ASAP) this list is playing Wave. If the bug is fixed, I'd change things so I had 4 hydra and 0 wave..

I played a version of the pact based lists floating around here at GP Detroit today. Went 4-4 and dropped had a blast, got multiple compliments, 2-0 a living end deck round 7(which our decks should struggle with), beat one u/w eldrazi, lost to another, and got my last loss 0-2 from a merfolk player that really knew his deck well. Oh and one round I was about to untap and swing for lethal but after a complicated opponents turn,I forgot to pay the troll toll (upkeep pact) and lost the game 3

Side story,I picked up some cards for some deals from the vendors, in case I want to try out any of these other versions. In my testing pile i have playsets of genesis wave, primetime (was using only 1), and a pair of doubling season (because I enjoyed the Anissa version and really hope to be inspired by some of the lists here and hope the g/r wolf-walker in the new set ignites a new version from this group.

Does any one have a doubling season based build they can share? An update from curdbros?
If I get one before morning I will bring that build to play some constructed side events.
    Thanks everyone.

    Care to share this list?

Isn't pulse of the fields the ultimate anti-burn card for this deck?? I mean, the games go long, you have enough lands... their creatures will be brick walled, so... they have zero counters for the pulse, so its pure inevitabilty.

Has anyone considered swapping the Elvish Mystics for Rattleclaw Mystics? It has a bit more bite to it and can at least provide some Blue for the disrupt spells like Negate and Disdainful Stroke late game. You sort of lose the early advantage like a Courser of Kruphix or Nyx Weaver on turn 2 but you can still bring out Sidisi, Brood Tyrant on turn 3 with it.

I agree, and would be interested in the opinion of others. Especially because, T2 Courser or T3 Courser before a land drop are both great. Rattleclaw keeps the second option open, and is much better all around. Midgame if you play the morph, people will believe it's sagu mauler and waste removal.

I recently started testing the four whip, four hornet queen version of the deck. The deck feels much better than I initially expected. Most of my sideboarding has been very minimum. What do you guys do as far as sideboarding?

Siboarding is also very hard for me. I read Eugene Hwang's deck teck from the last GP, but his sideboard advise is very brief and I can't agree entirely. What to take out is usually the hard part. Many cards you can't leave out and you always have to try to keep at least 24 creatures for Sidisi.

Finally, for people that want to play Endless Obedience, check this out:

none of the sucessfull lists on recent mtgo events use auriok champions. there's no matchup in which they shine. not dying to bolts is nice, but it's a blocker and we just don't need blockers, we already destroy aggro. if it was a strong threat + protection from UWR removal, then it would be great.

damping matrix is better... shuts down your maps, and their entire deck.

With Pod everywhere and a really bad matchup, why isn't anyone running Graffdiggers Cage on the SB? Ok, the hate enchantments are white and help Martyr, but cage is much more powerful hate.

Also, someone said it's hard to lose to UWR. Really? Do others feel the same? Cause in my experience, control is pretty bad.

the Myr is great. I have it maindeck and it's indeed, at worse, the card described above (when pathed).

also, it's a 2-turn clock vs. whatever non-creature deck that has no path to handle it.

it also immediatly shuts down the table vs. aggro, which is a nice effect. gaining one turn for another threat while they spend their elimination on the myr is excellent.

makes sense... for some reason I haven't been facing many of those, but since they are the worst possible matchups, it should be worth.

altough they are the same matchups in which I think the Myr Battlesphere shines. it shuts down the table and usually leads to a concession... maybe I should run both maindeck and have an Inkwell on SB with the slot angel will free.

in which matchups? maybe I have to search for them more agressively then.

myr battlesphere has been a good option to me when I'm afraid people are holding path. they are going to expand it, I'll get the island and keep four tokens. I can probably follow up with another threat...

no the ultimate solution tough. maybe the inkwell is worth a slot.

what I don't get is angel mainboard when it comes out against so many decks (and is especially bad against path anyways).

and on talismans and lands... I've considered cutting one for an island, but all of them? also, I'd never said all of them out just because of stony silence (altough here is another reason to run only 2 and an extra island).

btw, people should really be running 1 halimar dephts and 1 dreadship reef.

finally... 3 dismember takes too much space if it's only good against infect and splinter twin (which I never seen to face). I bring then in against anything with tarmogoyf, dark confidant and maybe even for DRS (also against fish, this MU sucks btw). But it makes me wonder if maxing out on ratchet bomb and still having 1-2 slots for stuff like dispel or a 4th negate wouldn't be better (especially considering path is such a problem).

I haven't seen that much affinity, I'm more concerned with RG.

Also, I run a total 3 ratchet bombs between main and SB, because that is a more adequate answer to affinity. Apart from that and Hurkyll's Recall's (really narrow) I'm not sure what you can do against affinity.

On another matter, I find it weird that Forbidden Alchemy has not been mentioned in any comments on this thread and the other one. Impulse for one more mana with a flashback that is possible with tron and a talisman. It digs really deep, should help a lot assembling tron.

I'll consider replacing a mage for one of those.

Silent Arbiter is definitely something to try. Theoretically it can be too slow to have real impact, but if you manage to Remand/Repeal something and then play this T3/T4, it can be good.

I don't see how it's slow and O-stone isn't. Or even ratchet bomb. Ratchet for 1 will explode on turn 3 while taking mana on turn 2. Arbiter can also come down on turn 3 if you have a meddalion and worst case let's you free to counter/bounce on turns 2 and 3.

4 is too much tough, I'm using a singleton maindeck in place of O-stone (a card that makes no sense since it doesnt help the bad matchups - it's there because it's cool and expansive), especially because it collides with sad-robots. I have a second on SB.

About removal... path is going to hurt sooner or later, and bolt can't kill the arbiter without an attacker (so he's a time walk that will eat a bolt).
