You're reiterating something Ben Bleiweiss said about the reserved list in the past. $200 cards do not "sit in the case" at many LGSes: if they did, it wouldn't be so hard to buy a good quality Tabernacle or unlimited Mox online. In some ways, having these cards be that expensive adds to the mystique of the game. They're completely unobtainable, but they're badges of honor for those who were playing the longest. I don't think that we should have the Reserved List, but I also don't think it's bad to have $200 cards.
Anyway, at my LGS, we have trouble keeping any Modern staples in the case because they sell so fast. It's anecdotal, but there's no LGS singles reporting system for formal data.

Oct 3, 2015Richard Arschmann posted a message on The Magic Street Journal: Wizards Always Hurts The Ones They LoveThis article is absurd. The singles market is a major source of revenue for LGSes, and LGSes are essential for paper Magic as we know it. There are so many awesome decks for Modern and most of them require expensive cards. You'll go broke trying to obtain all of them, and it's not worth it anyway. Just play one or two and focus on mastery.Posted in: Articles

Half of all Bant Eldrazi players play 2, half play 3. What's the difference? The ability to afford a third copy without taking out a second mortgage. Actually, it's the anticipated meta. The card is at its best against affinity and fish and rather underwhelming against Tron/the mirror and Breach/Titanshift.
1 Forest
1 Ghost Quarter
1 Sanctum of Ugin
12 Tronlands
2 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
4 Death's Shadow
2 World Breaker
4 Dismember
4 Sylvan Scrying
4 Street Wraith
4 Chromatic Star
4 Expedition Map
4 Karn Liberated
3 Oblivion Stone
2 Noxious Revival
3 Nature's Claim
1 Fatal Push
3 Collective Brutality
3 Surgical Extraction
2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
I'm not sure about the Noxious Revivals but you can get back Tron pieces that have been Ghost Quartered with them or really mess with Grishoalbrand decks. Relic of Progenitus or Chromatic Star might be better. Based on the increased # of colored spells we might just be better off making that Sanctum of Ugin an Overgrown Tomb. I'm a bit worried about the burn matchup but the burn player will probably see Death's Shadow and the Tron lands and get confused as to what they should do, hopefully buying us enough time to get Tron online.
Great set though
Make it happen, Wizards
